I spent three nights in total at The Dairy, before and after tramping (as the New Zealanders say) on the Milford Track with Ultimate Hikes. From my arrival to my departure, Sasha, Evelyn and their colleagues provided excellent, thoughtful service during both my stays.
Other reviewers’ positive descriptions of the hotel’s rooms and facilities are spot on in my opinion. My rooms on each stay were perfect - cosily warm and comfortable bed, a well equipped bathroom (with bonus heated towel rails), snacks, milk in a real bottle, coffee machine and kettle with a great range of teas.
The lounge area made for a comfortable space to chat with fellow guests as well as indulging in some yummy NZ confectionery. There is also a private little courtyard where smokers didn’t need to feel like pariahs!
I returned from the Milford somewhat stiff and sore to find I’d been allocated an upstairs room. One look at my plaintive face was all it took for Evelyn to juggle my booking that night back to a ground floor room. A small but very considerate gesture that was greatly appreciated.
I really enjoyed my stays here and will definitely be recommending The Dairy to any friends visiting Queenstown in the future.

Kia ora Leigh, Ngā mihi nui for your incredible review! We're over the moon to hear you had a fantastic stay with us, both before and after your Milford Track adventure. Sasha, Evelyn, and the rest of the crew are sending a big shout-out for your kind words. Stoked that you found the rooms cozy and well-equipped – those heated towel rails are a game-changer, right? And the lounge area is the perfect spot for some Kiwi confectionery indulgence. Evelyn is all about those considerate gestures, and we're glad she could make your post-Milford recovery a bit easier with a ground floor room. Thanks a bunch for recommending The Dairy to your friends visiting Queenstown – we can't wait to host them too! Ngā mihi nui

The Dairy is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed. Located on a quiet hill close by the gondola and walking distance to Queenstown centre, it has great decor, homey vibes and lots of little complementary extras like free toiletry bag, bath salts and shower bomb to add that touch of extra pamper, snacks, drinks and a generous happy hour in the lounge room in front of a well lit fireplace. Our room was spotless clean and the staff was polite and extremely attentive to guests needs. The cherry on top of the cake was the outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the Remarkables, which could be reserved for exclusive use. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Queenstown!

Very comfortable, all in the room was complimentary so if you took the popcorn you were faced with a 10 dollar charge! Staff were friendly, there was a complimentary drinks and snacks from 5-6pm in the main area, how lovely is that. We sat with guests sharing travel tales. Super stay, second time we have stayed with Naumi Hotels and both hotels different but fabulous and staff were super friendly!

In June, I booked a three night stay at The Dairy Private Hotel in Queenstown from October 12-15, as a surprise getaway for an early celebration of my wife's birthday, which is October 19th.
After having booked via the property's website, I communicated directlywith Abhishek Kokje, General Manager at The Dairy Private Hotel, to let him know I was brining my wife to Queenstown, and I asked him to let me know if the Junior Suite would be available during the dates of our stay. He replied affirmatively, so I decided to splurge for the upgrade, and am glad I did.
The Junior Suite has a small balcony, which provides a nice view over Queenstown, and of The Remarkables.
The Dairy Private Hotel is "boutique" (only thirteen rooms), and in an excellent location, only a few short blocks from the centre of Queenstown (with its outstanding offering of cafes, restaurants, pubs, and shopping) and Lake Wakatipu.
Barbara and Sacha both provided genuinely warm, friendly, and heartfelt service to my wife & me, and they made both of us feel like welcome and valued guests.
Many years ago, I came to understand you can train someone to provide a service or perform a task, but you can't teach passion, pride, or enthusiasm. The way Barbara and Sacha went about their jobs every day indicated to my wife & me they enjoy working at The Dairy, interacting with their guests, and that they both are consummate hospitality industry professionals.
My wife & I highly recommend The Dairy Private Hotel in Queenstown, and if we are ever fortunate enough to be able to return to Queenstown, we would absolutely, definitely, most certainly stay at The Dairy Private Hotel.
Thank you Abhishek, Barbara, Sacha, and your fellow team members!

It sounds like early birthday celebration was a success, and we're delighted to have been a part of it. It's great to know that you enjoyed the Junior Suite and its view of Queenstown and The Remarkables. We believe those little moments of serenity can make a stay truly special. We couldn't agree more with your sentiment about passion and enthusiasm—it's something we hold dear here at The Dairy. Stayed here for 3 nights for my honeymoon and would absolutely stay again. The location was ideal (walkable to everything in Queenstown), the rooms were a comfortable size, and the decor was bold and unique. The amenities were also lovely, as the hotel provided wine, coffee, seltzer water and snacks in our room (all locally made) and offered a light happy hour with wine and snacks from 5-6pm each night. The bed was also quite comfortable.

I wholeheartedly recommend staying at The Dairy during a stay in Queenstown.
We loved everything about the hotel, but the amazing lounge and cute complimentary items were extra special.
The location is perfect for a stay in central Queenstown, with attractions like "Fergburger," the gondola, and the luge (all of which are great!) practically on your doorstep.
We opted not to rent a car during our stay at The Dairy because we found we could access everything we wanted to by walking or by bus. You may want to consider that to save on rental and parking costs.
On a side note, I'd also recommend "Bespoke Kitchen" which is a fantastic cafe next door (as of 2024).
Thank you to the team at The Dairy; we had such a great time. My wife said it was "... the favourite hotel she'd ever stayed at", and it was definitely up there for me too! Cheers!

The Dairy Private, what can we say - we LOVED our stay SO much! The best hotel experience we’ve EVER had!!
We had the first four nights of our honeymoon booked and the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. They also brought us a bottle of champagne and cheese platter to our room which was so special and really lifted our honeymoon vibes.
We loved the free happy hour and just the experience of meeting other guests in the lounge during that time - it was something we’ve never had and was so memorable. Rooms were so comfy and cosy, we slept so well! And we also loved the decor, so warm and unusual and made things feel more thoughtful and welcoming than being in a large hotel.
Our whole experience is what made us book again for the final two nights of our honeymoon when we arrived at the hotel we had originally booked only to find that they had major constructions going on just beside our room (which they hadn’t mentioned when booking). Straight away I looked to see if The Dairy Private had availability and they did - such relief!! We booked immediately and came to check in, and were met warmly by one of the staff saying ‘you’re back!’ We felt so welcomed for the second time, it was definitely the right decision and the perfect way to finish our honeymoon.
Biggest thanks to The Dairy Private team for making our honeymoon exceptional! We can’t wait to come back for an anniversary stay in the future 😊

It's those little details that we believe make all the difference! When you decided to return for the final nights of your honeymoon, it truly made our day to welcome you back. The Dairy Private Hotel was the perfect choice for us, 2 ladies celebrating their 60th birthdays with a week in Queenstown.
The hotel is perfectly situated for convenience to walk downtown, and we had spectacular views of the mountains from our room and balcony. We stayed in the Junior suite which was super comfortable and plenty spacious for all our gear. We were there to horse ride, and the backyard hot tub was great for our tired muscles after cold days in the saddle.
Happy hour, or more appropriately, 'complimentary wine time by the fire', is a terrific daily event, between 5 and 6. It's an opportunity to relax and get to know fellow guests, or just sit quietly with a book. Quality local wines and nibbles are offered by the super friendly staff. The 24 lollie, cookie, juice, tea/coffee bar is brilliant for those out of hours peckish needs. And fresh milk is always on hand for your tea or coffee.
The staff, Paula, Ornella, and Cam were delightful, always friendly, and catered to our every need with a smile.
The Hotel wallpaper is an adventure in itself, which adds to the feel of being somewhere very special. As I read in other reviews before I booked, "this place makes you feel like you're staying as a guest in someone's home, rather than in a hotel". I loved everything about The Dairy Private Hotel, and will definitely book here again for my next adventure in Queenstown.

It was a beautiful hotel, we both loved the cozy, unique vibe and it was super close to everything the center of Queenstown has to offer. The 5pm happy hour was such a lovely touch, with the open fire lit as was having the bar filled with tea/coffee and extras, such a delightful extra touch. Everything was wonderful, my only comment would be the parking situation, we saw when booking that parking was included which was important given the central position of the hotel. Only when we arrived, we were told there wasn't any onsite parking unless we paid extra to reserve a park, it cost an extra $80 for the days we stayed there. If you're fine with this, I couldn't praise the hotel, room or stay enough. Thanks so much for your hospitality, we would absolutely stay there again.

We stayed at the Dairy (beautiful place) and then stored our bags there while we were on the Routeburn Track for a little over a week. The bags were in our room when we checked in after completing the hike.
I think most of those questions can be answered from their website. I don't know the specifics for these questions. Sorry. All I can tell you is that this is one of the nicest places we have stayed in. Highly recommend it!

Yes e have a drying room for ski all ski gear.
We don't have a restaurant on-site, although we have just introduced a Private Dining option, with some of Queenstown's top chefs - so you can now dine at the hotel.
Alternatively, there are plenty of great restaurants in Queenstown itself - just a short 2 minutes walk from the hotel
