Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Crowne Plaza Queenstown, an IHG hotel, is frequently celebrated for its harmonious blend of vibrancy and serenity, according to guests who also commend the spacious rooms and overall comfort. Nestled in a central location beloved by many for its proximity to restaurants, shops, and the waterfront, the hotel serves as an ideal base for exploring Queenstown. While the rooms are lauded for their views and cleanliness, some guests feel the decor could use a refresh.
The hotel's amenities and service earn high marks, though the added cost of parking and occasional service hiccups during peak times are noted by some travelers. Despite these minor points, the prevailing opinion is that the hotel provides good value, particularly highlighted by its cleanliness and stunning scenic views.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here on two non-consecutive nights separated by our 3-day hike of the Routeburn Track. The front desk staff are reason enough to stay here. Our first night was wonderful, having a high-floor waterview king room. Amazing views. Very good breakfast buffet. Walkable to all the restaurants in town, the gondola, BirdLife park, and botanical garden. The next morning, the front desk host was more than happy to store our bags for us for the two nights we were away hiking. Upon our return, we were slightly disappointed to get a 2-queen room instead of the king we had booked, but the host made up for it with some free drinks, a generous late check-out, a chocolate bar and his friendly apologies. Appreciated the service.

I kinda have a mix feeling towards this hotel.
On the good side, the hotel is in a very good location. The room, although very small, is cozy and comfy. The service in general is nice, staff are friendly and helpful. However, I experienced a few incidents that given me bad impression.
First, upon my arrival at around 5 pm the front staff told me that my room was not ready, without given me any explanation nor the time that it would be ready. Instead she gave me a voucher for drink ( a glass each) and that's it, no words of sorry. 15 minutes passed by without any progress and that was the point I started to seriously complain. The hotel duty manager arrived, he was nice, a lot nicer than the front staff. He apologized and explained the reason and said that he would love to offer an upgrade but we already got the highest type of room in the hotel (I doubt and never checked but my room was double lake view room). Not long after that the room was ready and the duty manager walked us to the room. Our room was on the 7th floor and the elevator only come up to the 6th floor so the manager had to carry all luggage for us which were quite a lot as we are not a light traveler.
everything was good at that point, the room as mentioned was small but cozy and comfy. The view was nice and we enjoy sitting at the balcony.
But then my wife discovered a piece of broken glass on the floor and when we started to look closely at it there was many pieces of broken glass and it was all over the room. The duty manager again came up. I have to say he was nice and he did all the deep clean himself with a help of one staff. He said the hotel was fully book so he couldn't relocate us but if we want, they would move us the next day to the room with better location (he reiterated that we already got the best type of room in the hotel). I didn't take the offer as we wanted to unpack and didnt want to pack again. The room was cleaned all over again and he changed everything for us - bed sheets, blankets, towels so that we felt safe to sleep.
The next day, the cleaning staff forgot some cleaning stuff in our bathroom and forgot to refill our towels - so another flaw.
This is to share our experience. these 3 incident aside, we like the hotel. On our checked out day as our flight was very early in the morning, the hotel prepared a packed meals for all 3 of us. The packed meal was nice with a lot of good stuff. I forgot to mention that eventually the manager gave us the voucher for a meal at the hotel which although we had all dining plan laid out already, we manage to had another late night dinner there.
As we like the city a lot, we plan to go back and I have to say I still have this hotel as our choice although I would do more research to see if there are some other interesting hotel. I probably have to write to them to make sure this incident would not be repeated the next time I stay.

We stayed 4 nights at the end of February and cannot fault this hotel for location, view, room size and service. We were on the 5th floor in a lake-front room, with a perfect view of the lake and mountains. The balcony was wonderful for taking in the view whilst enjoying a wine and some cheese. The wifi was excellent and they had loads of TV channels if you felt like taking it easy for an hour or so. The only thing we weren't that keen on was the shower over the bath. I think they should get rid of the bath and have an amazing, large shower. It is awkward for elderly people to clamber in and out of. The bed was huge and the sheets felt brand new, so we had an excellent nights sleep every night. Don't let our comment about the shower put you off as you will not be disappointed in a stay here.

When our trip to Milford sound was cancelled we booked in here at short notice.
The room was very comfortable.
We paid $20 per person for breakfasts which we thought was a good deal. They had a juice making machine and a good egg station.
Would definitely return.

Excellent stay in the Crowne Plaza Hotel during the school holidays. Loved the morning buffet breakfast, great views of Lake Wakatipu and generally clean and comfy rooms. Reception staff were hospitable and allowed us to store our baby car seat in their storage room. Also had good Wifi connection in rooms to help with down-time and the kids loved the Games Room where they played table-tennis, foosball, Nintendo Wii and interacted with other kids. Only issue was that the bathroom towels were not changed daily. Would recommend to travellers especially those who have kids and like nice lake views. We were lucky to book during a time where a special deal was available so that made it more attractive.

Disappointing! After 4 days & 3 nights we came to the conclusion this is an overrated hotel. The good parts were few: breakfast, laundry room, location. The not so good are very numerous but it starts with the room air conditioning system. We had to change rooms because of the sauna effect. The second room was standard and ok. Housekeeping was minimal. In fact, we had to go the the front desk to ask them to have housekeeping return to the room to do basic cleaning; bathroom and vacuuming. They did provide towels, shampoo etc but did absolutely nothing to clean the counter top, toilet, floor etc. BTW. No-one responded to our request to have the room redone. Not exactly customer service oriented. Perhaps that is due to the captive audience they have with waterfront hotels. Queenstown has about 30K of visitors in one day to supplement the 23K of the permanent residents. Another point; we had dinner with a group of 18 on the first night in their 360 restaurant. I counted the number of people in the 360 restaurant: 8 plus us. We started at 715 in the evening and were finally served our meal at 915. If we were dining as a couple we would have walked out. Ok, the meal was actually very good. I could go on and on about this place but my recommendation is find another hotel. Despite this, Queenstown is incredible and worth a longer visit but use another hotel.

Great hotel, very friendly staff.
Extremely clean rooms and prompt service.
Best part was the valet service and parking facility at 20$ a night which makes things so easy considering how busy the town gets and it's always a challenge to find parking.

This is our new favourite hotel in Queenstown, and here's why:
1. We had a fabulous view of the lake and mountains from our room.
2. The staff are friendly and helpful but not too intrusive. Eg. There is daily room servicing but no turn down service in the evening.
3. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom modern and clean.
4. The location is the best, adjacent to central Queenstown dining, shops and activities.
5. We also enjoyed the hotel restaurant- great food, great view, prompt and friendly service, and not too noisy.
Valet parking is $20 per day, which we thought was reasonable for Queenstown. We were able to leave our car there while we went tramping for a week. They were also happy to store our suitcases for a week between our two bookings for no extra charge.

Over $400 for one night including breakfast and parking and we're underwhelmed.
Rooms are refurbished, but you could have fooled us, very meh decor, old shower over bath combo with a shower curtain (very upmarket) with very poor pressure (seriously bad) and hot water that comes and goes, single glazed windows, rattily old air conditioning (that kept us awake most of the night) and a massive gap between the power point and tiles (dangerous in a bathroom!).
The best bit though is zero sound proofing, so we got to hear the couple in the next room talking etc, not a low muffle, but word for word, totally not acceptable in a hotel of this standard.
We had to sign a waiver on checking in that we wouldn't smoke (never have) which was strange, as the hotel is "smoke free" yet the table on our deck contained a custom ashtray with dirty black marks from smokers, nice touch.............
Came down for breakfast and it was packed as they appeared to be understaffed despite 100% occupancy (ie they knew this was coming). We got asked to wait (with a lot of others) but that was not problem, and we asked could just grab a coffee while we were waiting & we'd read the paper etc, got abruptly told no by a very stressed lady who appeared to be the manager, despite being able to see filter coffee sitting on the buffet table, a poor way to treat customers obliging you with a wait, saw a few others being treated the same way as we were herded into a holding pen.
For a hotel buffet the breakfast was very fresh and tasty & with a wide selection.
The check in staff were lovely as well, but unfortunately this hotel is a long way off the star rating they purport to.

There is also a convenience store located a few steps outside the hotel’s front entrance. They sell sunrises, beverages, snacks etc.
Not that I am aware of. Best to contact CPQ directly yourself :)
Yes , there is one in the room
Hi. I think that the deluxe room is nice but doesn't have a view of the lake. The rooms with a view of the lake are amazing however will cost you more.
