New name and new beds! The new 4 Bed Dorms are sensation and probably the best rooms i've stayed in, in Queenstown. The beds are super comfy and incredibly sturdy - no noise at all when you move around. Every bed has its own massive storage space with lockable doors and its own reading light and power points. Most of the rooms have their own bathroom, which are kept really clean by the daily housekeeping team and the reception staff are second to none. They even have special deals for tours in town! They also have a set of brand new self-service laundry machines and driers - no more out of order signs! Excellent value and incredible stay again.

This is probably the best and cleanest hostel I have stayed in, and definitely the best location.
My husband and I stayed for four nights in the third floor queen room with ensuite. It had its own fridge, electric kettle and microwave. It's a corner room so has amazing views over the lake front and out to the mountains. Probably the best view in Queenstown for this price, so handy to all the lake activities, and close to the nightlife action, restaurants etc.
Parking was a little bit of an issue, but the staff were helpful in directing us to where we could find close-ish free parking.

All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful in every way, and it was nice having our room cleaned everyday by the housekeeping team!

As other posters have said, the kitchen also has amazing views from the breakfast bar.

Being a hostel, you did have the odd noisy guest - I think we were woken after midnight every night by other guests returning from their night out. I would recommend taking ear plugs, and we also had a white noise app on our phone to drown out the late night conversations of others. Just remind yourself how good the view and location is and don't let some noise ruin your stay in amazing Queenstown! I would definitely stay here again.

Hands down the best hostel in Queenstown! Choosing this place to stay Absolootely made my time in Queenstown. The staff are sooo friendly and made me feel very welcome from the moment I walked in. They took the time to answer all my questions and gave me some epic recommendations which really helped me get the most out of my trip.
I did shop around before booking Absoloot and booked it for the BREATHTAKING view from the kitchen and it did not disappoint! I loved sitting there and watching the world go by (although sitting there meant I maybe made too much use of the free tea, coffee and hot chocolate ahaha oooops).
The other big thing I must mention is how clean the place is! I've stayed in alot of hostels after years of travelling and this is by far the best. They keep everything to a very high standard which blew my mind as that's not common in hostels but made my stay so much more comfortable.
Because I loved it so much I suggested it to a friends parents as I know they had private rooms and for me this place was so clean and felt like a home that it would be better than an expensive hotel and they also loved the friendly vibe, beautiful room and thought it was such good value for money.
I could go on forever about all the positives, but I will finish on saying thanks to the staff at reception and housekeeping, you are all so awesome and I loved chatting with you and hearing your stories!

First time in Queenstown and the Hostel did not disappoint. Right near the waterfront and central to all the attractions. They provided us with everything we needed and the kitchen/shared bathrooms were very hygienic. No problems with our stay other than no private parking but the free street parking was only a few minutes away. Would definitely stay here again for the great price and hospitaliity!

My kids (4 children, age 10 and under) and I stayed here for two nights and would return. The location is great, very central, and the staff are young and enthusiastic. The family room was the best we have stayed in, with great beds and a small en suite that was just what we needed. We had a small fridge in the room, and the big shared kitchen was easily accessible.
That said, keep in mind this is a hostel, so don't expect much by way of amenities.
When we got there, we learned there is no nearby parking. Even unloading luggage was tough as the front desk warned that we could not stay in the loading dock. So I had to dump all luggage inside (with the much appreciated aid of the front desk worker) and leave it with the kids while I drove around in search of parking. Not a major crisis, but a complication that is particularly challenging for families with young kids (esp single parent families). Would have been nice if we knew to expect this.
Front desk was not staffed at all times, though there was an emergency number for checking in outside staffed hours. We did not know that the elevator was turned off overnight which made early check out difficult - again with lots of small children and luggage, particularly given that the car was parked at a distance.
We also had a problem with no hot water on the first of the 2 nights we were there. Very frustrated with poor communication by the staff, esp when we got home on night #2 to learn that the hot water was out again! Happily, the issue was resolved within the hour, but the handling of communication and guest services was lacking. That said, an email complaint to the management resulted in a very nice apology and explanation a few days later and while they didn't offer to reduce our bill, they did offer a discounted stay should we visit again.
In summary, great location and bedroom/ensuite. Staff was young and enthusiastic if not well trained in customer service. Policies for complaints/problems clearly lacking, and ancillary amenities (parking, lift, front desk staffing, etc) minimal. But it was reasonably clean, very warm, well organized, safe, affordable, and brilliantly located. If you go in with a clear expectation of what you will get, it is an excellent choice.

The environment inside and outside the Absoloot Hostel is amazing; located just a minute away from Queenstown CBD, it is the place to stay if you want to experience the world's capital adventure. The rooms are clean, beds done, sheets changed and cleaned always. The staff is amazing, friendly and ready to help. I would totally recommend them to anyone.

Its impossible to overstate how amazing this hostel is. The location is fantastic and in walking distance to many of Queenstown's most popular attractions and right on the water. The feel and atmosphere is cozy and fun. Whether you're traveling with friends or traveling alone (like I did), there was something about Absoloot that just made you feel comfortable.
Now for the people. The owner, manager, and everyone working behind the front desk are ABSOLOOT gems (see what I did there?). They're warm and friendly and demonstrate that they actually care about your stay, and won't hesitate to banter with you down in the lobby. It's an incredibly welcoming feel, and something I really didn't feel at any other hostel over the course of my year in New Zealand.
I'm back in the States now, but there is ABSOLOOT-ly no other place I'd rather stay when I come back to visit.

Love you guys! Hope to see you again soon!

- Chris Rogers

This hostel was really well located right by the lake. Staff were helpful upon arrival and it was good all rooms have keycard access. We stayed in a six bed dorm which was clean and had a basin in the room. The shared bathroom and showers were clean and showers nice and warm. The communal kitchen on the second floor has huge windows and an incredible view of the lake. Very good value for one night in Queenstown.

Thank you Absoloot Hostel for making our time in Queenstown so great.. Everything was perfect from the moment we check-in to the moment we check-out, the staff is so friendly and helpful and helped us to book different activities in Queenstown + Milford Sound. The rooms are great, there is everything you need inside (lockers under the bed, small reading light, en-suite bathroom + plug). I feel appreciated as a traveler when I find hostels like this.. The kitchen has everything you need and the views from there are just amazing.. makes cooking a lot more fun :) I would recommend this hostel to everyone who visit Queenstown and will definitely come back! Thank you all :D

The hostel is located in the lakefront, if not the best location for a hostel!! Close to all amenities, it is very well looked after, with brand new bunk beds and free storage. The team is super helpful and friendly. Grab a frisbee at the reception (for free) and take the lakefront walk towards the Gardens for a round of disc golf (free), or hang out meeting others in the kitchen with the best views in Queenstown. Honestly the value cannot be beaten for this place!! Highly recommended!

Hi There! Yes the windows can be fully-covered by the shutters in the rooms. Please be aware though that these are not 'black-out' shutters if that is your preference - like most curtains/shutters they will allow a very minor amount of light to permeate. Hope that helps!

Answer from Shaun K
Queenstown, New Zealand6 contributions
Hi There, We do not have any parking on-site because of our premier location, however there are a couple of options available. There is free 24hr on-street parking in the surrounding streets near the hostel, which we can show you on a map on arrival. Otherwise there is a parking facility near the hostel, which costs approximately $24 for 24hrs. You can also park in any timed park or loading zone from 9pm until 8:30am in the downtown area. We hope that helps! AVA Management

What is the noise level on a thursday night. If close all windows is it still noisy?
Answer from GeordieManners

Its the most centrally located hostel in Queenstown, but most of the others are within a street or two away so it doesnt make a difference where you stay for the noise. If you dont want noise then you dont book a hostel in the centre of town - simple! The windows are double glazed so yes it reduces the noise... there's also free earplugs at reception so you should have any issues anyway.

I don't believe there are any packages available through the hostel. However, yes there is a lockable drying room for all ski gear, and the buses to The Remarkables or Coronet are literally just around the corner about a 2 minute walk away. Good choice on hostel by the way. It's the best in town in my opinion
