Not happy. I’m not a super fussy person but hate being ripped off. This Standard Queen room cost us US$198.25 a night and besides being clean, free tea and coffee down the hall, and very close to town, it is very small, no place to put your clothes plus having to contend with sensor lights going off all night and no TV unless you have a Smart Phone, I won’t recommend it to anyone.

Hi P416HBleeb, I'm really sorry to hear we didn't provide the experience you were looking for. We feel our prices are pretty competitive and we take a stance against price gouging in the summer period, when many other hotels will increase their prices significantly. We've opted to charge the same amount at peak periods as we would either side of them instead. There are lots of other great hotels in town, albeit further away from the main centre, that offer all the extras but this may be reflected in their prices. Our model is to offer people everything they need and nothing they don't for their stay. We appreciate that may not be for everybody and we're always happy to help people relocate if they're not satisfied here - we'd rather everybody enjoy their time in Queenstown! The bathroom sensor lighting will go off if the door is left open but we're looking at capping the sensors to avoid any confusion about this so we hope to have this resolved soon. The TV operates as a normal TV and there is a remote in the room to run the standard free-to-air Freeview channels. Whilst there is no Sky TV, we have Chromecast in all rooms so guests can stream their own content from any compatible device. We do try to ensure we get these differences across in our marketing material but we'll review what content we have out there. Once again, we do apologise if we couldn't meet your expectations in this particular case and we trust you enjoyed the other aspects of your experience here in Queenstown. Warm Regards, Joshua mi-pad Manager

The Mi-Pad hotel is in the center of Queenstown and walking distance to almost every restaurant and meeting spot for tours. The hotel room itself was somewhat small however the bed was comfortable and they had chrome cast set up on the TVs to stream shows from your phone or iPad. You have to download the app to get in and out of your room so just keep that in mind. Overall, not bad for a 2 night stay but I wouldn’t stay there longer than a few nights.

Hi Garf7337, Thanks for staying with us during your visit to Queenstown, we're glad you liked it overall. Our rooms are compact but we do pack in many features and ensure what we do provide is the best quality - like our organic, refillable toiletries, GHS hair products and personal digital safe. We understand not everyone comes with a smartphone or wishes to download the app so we do have regular key cards that can be given on check in instead - we don't want people to feel forced in to using their phones when sometimes, a holiday is the chance to leave it behind! Warm Regards, Joshua, mi-pad Manager

This place is good to stay for value and central location, however the technology is overrated and unreliable. The app did not let us in to the room, we had to call up for help and the staff member also could not unlock our door after many attempts. The staff member gave us a normal hotel key card, and even this did not work on our door when we returned back from dinner - we needed to call down for help again so they could get an extra key card. Overall the inconsistencies with the technology were a hassle more than any kind of benefit. But I would still recommend this on location and price, just do not expect anything special from the app!

Dear Gem, Thank you for your comments and constructive criticism in relation to the application. We endeavor to continually upgrade and interface our systems to ensure the technology works with a variety of phones as this is one of our unique quirks of the property. We apologize this caused issues during your stay but thank you for notifying us so we can continue to improve and develop the application. If you could kindly send me an email to manager@mipadhotels.com describing the phone you use and any other relevant information in regards to the application not working so I can rectify the issues with our technology developers. Again we apologize for any issues caused and will continue to improve our services to ensure you are well looked after if you decide to return to Mi-Pad Queenstown Kind Regards Toby Welford Live-In Hotel Manager

Aside from the wonderful staff and lovely rooftop space this hotel is extremely expensive and poor. The rooms are small with open showers and toilet.
The ‘Complimentary’tea and coffee is a machine in the corridor which is frequently not working a kettle would doubtless be easier, cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

Hi Gaby719D, We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay but completely appreciate your feedback on the hotel. We offer compact rooms with smart designs incorporating lots of features. We also aim to offer high quality alternatives to the regular hotel offering. You may be correct in that the kettles may be be cheaper but our hot drink machines offer freshly gournd coffees as well as tea, chai, hot chocolate and soup. By doing it this way, we also greatly reduce the single use sachets and tea bags and with the thermally resistant cups in the rooms, we aim to avoid the use of disposable cups. We understand our model isn't for everyone and we're always happy to recommend alternatives if people aren't happy here - there are lots of really good traditional hotels in town. I'm grateful for you mentioning the staff as ours is a small, dedicated team and they'll be really pleased to hear your feedback. I'll be sure to pass this on. Once again, we're we do apologise if we didn't meet your expectations but hope you'll go on to enjoy your other stays around New Zealand. Warm Regards, Joshua, mi-pad Manager

I was visiting Queenstown, New Zealand for the first time and I was a bit nervous due to the low price of this hotel. However on arrival I was very impressed by the service and the room.

I was even very fascinated how you are to use an app on your phone to access your room. Although near the end the app failed and I did have to ask for an electronic key instead. But I am sure that can be improved on.

Also I was a bit worried as it was mentioned to me on arrival that the city's water supply had been contaminated. However the hotel very generously offered mineral water bottles as a substitute as the tap water was not suitable for drinking.

The location of this hotel was also excellent as the lake was only a 5 minute walk away as were other eating and drinking locations. I would definitely stay here again should I ever return to Queenstown

This hotel is ideally located 5mins walk from everything Queenstown has to offer. The rooms are a little on the small side but they are very clean and have all the amenities you could could need, including hair straighteners!! There are free tea, coffee, soup and hot chocolate in the vending machines in each floor. The staff are lovely and friendly and were so helpful when it came to linking in with tours etc, they assisted with making calls and checking information which was greatly appreciated.
Really enjoyed our stay.

Dear Grainner, Thank you so much for your wonderful comments about your stay with us. Although the rooms are conservative in essence, we ensure we have good quality products such the spa quality La Clinica and GHD products and the benefit of free vending machines on every floor to compensate for not having the facility in the room. I am glad the staff were attentive and helpful during your time here and will be sure to pass this on. We hope to see you again in the future. Kind Regards Toby Welford Live In Hotel Managaer

This place is close to the town, no parking but there is street parking if you’re lucky and time it right (park at 4pm to not have to move after 2hrs). Check in was ok, no one at the front desk ever, but eventually came from a call button.

Room is a bit on the small side, not a fan of the shower and toilet not being in a seperate room, but visible behind glass doors. Better for just one person. Room would benefit greatly from a little fridge under the sink.

Tech is a bit gimmicky. Thankfully we were given physical door key as app on phone never worked to unlock it. Was good to be able to change heat pump temp on app though, and work the lighting. No one replied our message on app when we needed something refilled in the room. Vending machine was under stocked and didn’t appear to have a way too pay.

Free tea/coffee/Hot chocolate vending machine was great, the one on our floor didn’t work the first day though. Ice machine a bonus to fill ice bucket (painfully slow to fill as only a little bit of ice comes out at a time), needed ice in lieu of a mini fridge to keep drinks cold. No real place to put clothes.

Room is better suited to a single occupant, but it was clean, modern, and the bed is comfy. Quiet location too, even being in the heart of Queenstown.

Dear HisBoyElroy2, Thank you for your feedback in regards to your stay. Unfortunately, the hotel does not provide parking we try to make this as clear as possible through all our web forums and we apologize that this may not have been clear for you when booking. Our staff are normally very proactive throughout the hotel this is why we implemented the call bell which links to the duty phone so we are always able to be at the desk to help when required. Mi-pads concept was to provide "Everything you need and nothing you don't" hence why the rooms are compact. We have tried to minimize clutter in the rooms but provide the comforts of modern hotels to allow people to stay in the beautiful destination of Queenstown. Our technology is what makes the property unique and we strive to provide seamless connectivity for guests and it is disappointing to hear that this was not working during your stay. We are constantly trying to update these services to keep in line with all the advancements with devices and to ensure they interface with the hotel. If you are referencing the paid for vending machines these you can pay with a debit card as it has a pay wave system installed, we do have stickers on the machine to inform guest of such I am sorry this may not have been clear for you. Thank you again for your comments and constructive feedback we are always looking to improve our service, technology and amenities and will take your comments under advisement to ensure we provide a better service to our guests in the future. In lieu of your comments we hope to see you again in the hopes to better improve your opinion of Mi-Pad hotels. Kind Regards Toby Welford Operations Manager

Great location in downtown Queenstown, a stones throw from the airport bus and of course restaurants, supermarkets and tourist attractions. I got a great price for this place and I was very happy.

I had a nice upgrade (for operational reasons) to a mountain view room with breaktaking views. Overall the rooms are modern and comfortable and make good use of the space, e.g the under bed space for luggage etc and a fold down desk.

As a solo traveller the glass bathroom wasn't an issue but I could see it being with a couple. But the water pressure was good and the bathrooms were clean.

There is NO housekeeping at the moment (the front desk agent was doing housekeeping, they are so short staffed and so is most of QT apparently). However I picked up fresh towels from a corridor off the lobby each day and left the dirties in the hallway for the housekeeping to collect. (They were only cleaning changeover rooms, obviously).

All the staff were very pleasant (didn't see much of them, front desk was not manned 99% of the time, again because the staff were off doing housekeeping) and friendly - especially the (Indian?) chap who checked me in.

My criticism/constructive feedback would be to improve the wifi - it is slow and kept blocking my VPN. In addition, the hot drinks machines: most of the time the machines had no cups. In addition the tea and coffee tastes absolutely rank (and I am not a coffee snob!) - although the hot chocolate and soup was fine. My suggestion would be to have some drip filter machines/and hot water dispensers instead or something for a decent quality coffee. (Or just go the girl with the silver coffee caravan near the bus stops, you can see her from the hotel!)

We stayed here for two nights in Queenstown before and after our Kepler Track. This hotel has a great location - just across the road from the QT city centre. You can walk to anywhere within the city centre right from your hotel. It’s also clean and comfortable and has a really soft, comfortable bed, good hot showers and provides a full suite of toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body wash) within the shower. I also love that each floor has a vending machine for complimentary hot drinks (and their hot chocolate is delicious).

There are available street parking spaces at the hotel. Not too many but so far we’ve not had any problems parking our car. There is also free wifi, and comfortable shared spaces such as the rooftop.

The only reason for a star less would be the shower / toilet set up. The shower is separated from the toilet, and stands between the toilet and the sink. The doors to both the shower and the toilet are thin glass doors, which means there is minimal privacy in either space. It’s fine for solo travellers and still somewhat workable for couples, but I imagine families or friends would find this arrangement uncomfortable.

Service is also good - we received and returned our card keys promptly with little fuss.

The hotel is perfectly located one block from the city center. The hotel staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND to be helpful and friendly. There is also a great balcony area with a view of Queenstown. One key issue is the room may be too "smart" -- the lights are automatic when they sense movement, so in the middle of the night if you turn over in bed the lights would come on in the whole room. Not ideal. Hotel staff said unfortunately there was no way to turn that feature off. Also, the shower and toilet are essentially in the bedroom with no separation.

Hi mogi14, Thank you for leaving your score and we really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to give us some feedback too! We're absolutely delighted you enjoyed your stay and found the location and roof terrace to be some highlights. Our team here are small but super-dedicated so it's great to hear you were so well received. I'll be absolutely sure to pass on your kind words, they'll be equally pleased :) It's disappointing to hear they lights were coming on during your stay - that should certainly not be happening. The sensors for the lights are only meant to come on when movement is detected in the shower or toilet and there are sensor guards in place to ensure it doesn't pick up movement from outside these locations. We'll have to check to ensure they're still in place because we certainly don't want lights coming on when they're not meant to! Thanks for letting us know, it's only from feedback like this we're able to correct any irregularities and make the hotel a little bit better. Warm Regards, Joshua, mi-pad Manager.
