Wow. Wow. Wow. I felt like a queen! This house has the most perfect view of Queenstown and the lake and i was in the incredible room with a bay window and HUGE bathroom. It was heavenly! I love boutique hotels but this was a few levels up! The food was delicious and breakfast choices were always new and fresh. I have a bad stomach and new zelanad food is so clean i could eat everything they served - through out all of new zealand too! c’mon beer and pizza! ha! back on topic - Hulbert houseis a fantastic and memorable place to stay! have them help you with tours and the outrageous spa where you take a hot bath with treats while seemingly hanging off the side of a steep mountain! I’ll never forget that either! Hulbert house - the room with the bay window overlooking queenstown is Honeymoon worthy! ha!

We concur with all of the previous reviews -- what a wonderful property with such gracious hosts. Chris, Tav, Sasha, and everyone we encountered during our visit made our stay in Queenstown outstanding. From the accommodations and the views to the breakfasts and the wine hour(s) in the evening, Hulbert House was a dream. We especially noticed the details: the music playlist in the afternoons was always on point, the fragrances throughout the building were refreshing and not cloying, and the fresh bottles of water and chocolates on the nightstand after turndown service were a welcome sight after a long day of activities.

As so many have said, the incline from town up to the property is indeed steep (think San Francisco). We found it fairly easy to trip down the hill into town and then grab an Uber (less than NZ $10) back up the hill afterwards.

If we ever find ourselves back in Queenstown, we would DEFINITELY stay at Hulbert House again, without question.

First off, we want to say thank you to Jay, Tavae, Sasha, Stephanie and the whole team for making our stay truly spectacular! From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel like this is your home in Queenstown. The whole team is great to chat with and gave great recommendations and tips (They saved our legs from extra unneeded hiking when doing the Ben Lomond track by recommending the gondola). Also a big thank you to Nookie and Sasha for going above and beyond for our housekeeping and being very thoughtful in helping us, even leaving a hand written note. The service and thoughtfulness you get at Hulbert House is impossible to replicate at larger hotels. The hotel is extremely well kept and well decorated and the hearty breakfasts, evening cocktails, canapés and snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks available through the day are such nice touches (the brownies and baked goods are the best!). We stayed in the Firth Suite which was very spacious and had amazing views! We looked in-depth at all of the top hotels in Queenstown and absolutely think this was the right choice. There is a short, steep climb when coming back from town but it also means you are a few minutes removed from the noise in town. On weekend nights, the music at the bars in town is very loud and can be heard from the streets. At Hulbert House, we didn’t deal with any of the noise. If the hill was too taxing on a given night, an Uber back from town was under NZD$10. Hulbert House definitely ranks as one of the best hotels we’ve ever had the opportunity to stay at.

We spent two wonderful nights at Hulbert House, and it was magical.

The House itself is beautiful and charming, in a great location with a stunning view across the lake. Our room was so spacious and comfortable and there are endless thoughtful touches that really make the stay special.

The team is small and they honestly felt like family by the end of our short stay, such is the personal care and hospitality they extended to us. Nothing was too much trouble, they always tried to anticipate our needs and make sure that we had everything we needed to feel relaxed and comfortable.

Whether it was enjoying the delicious breakfast cooked by Chris, or enjoying complimentary canapés and cocktails before heading to dinner, there were so many moments where we just felt so cared for and special. We were utterly spoilt!

We pretty much floated away after checkout, and we cannot wait to return.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone at Hulbert House from Jonathan and Connie xxx

We had a great 4 day stay here. The setting is idyllic, nestled on a hill overlooking the town and harbor. The walk to town is only 5 minutes ( it does require walking up down and then back up a small bit steep hill) making it the perfect location. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. This boutique hotel is in a Victorian house from the late eighteenth hundreds and is well appointed. The rooms are large and comfortably furnished. The breakfasts were very good and there was wine and canapés every evening.
The perfect place to stay!

The Hulbert House in Queensland, New Zealand exceeded all of my expectations. Our hosts, Jay and Jade, were so warm and welcoming, it felt as if we were staying with family. Their hospitality skills are truly unmatched, and I highly recommend that they train hospitality employees in the US. The accommodation itself was decorated in an opulent 19th century Victorian style, each room was equipped with all the amenities one would expect from a high-end hotel, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The location is also great, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and easy access to the wharf and downtown areas, as well as local attractions. Overall, I couldn't recommend The Hulbert House more highly, it was truly an unforgettable experience. We want all of our friends to be able to share this wonderful experience.

Always wanted to stay here. Lived up to the hype. Stayed with my husband and my mum as a birthday getaway. Simply amazing. Have stayed at alot of places in Queenstown and this is definitely one of the best. Particularly if you enjoy boutique accommodation! Beautiful rooms, amazing views, lovely gardens, homemade sweets always available- a bit dangerous for your waistline but oh well. The view from our room upstairs and from the front patio is, in my opinion, one of the best views of the Queenstown Lake I've seen. Short walk into town. Will be even shorter when the road works are done. Staff amazing and look after you so well they make you feel like you're the only guests staying. Tav welcoming us and treating us like family, even driving into town to get us one night because we got stuck in the rain. Chris making me better margaritas than most restaurants do these days. Laura making me a pot of 'wellness' tea when I woke up feeling under the weather. Honestly do yourself a favour and stay here. My brother (who had stayed at Hulbert House a few months prior to us) was going to propose to his partner at the Amisfield winery but ended up proposing at Hulbert House instead because it was just so picturesque.

The only problem with our stay is that now we won't be able to stay anywhere in the world without comparing it to Hulbert House......

Gorgeous boutique property with only 7 rooms and personalised service. Loved the decor! Excellent al a carte breakfast, no dinner on site, but we loved the free drinks from 5-7pm with cakes & canapés and fabulous views across the lake from the terrace. The host Chris was excellent, so friendly and welcoming! All staff go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable. Would highly recommend!

Hulbert House is perfection: a small elegant Inn full of personal touches like baked treats and drinks in the kitchen 24/7, tea kettles and beautiful china in every room, a gorgeous garden patio overlooking the town, lake and Remarkables and an incredibly warm staff ready to help in any way. The daily canapes and wines and breakfasts were wonderful, rooms have big tubs and showers and both of ours had stunning lake and mountain views. Jay and Jade and Martina welcomed us like family, it was hard to leave!

This is a sublime boutique BnB. Really exceptional. It's the kind of small hotel I am always looking for and rarely find. First, the location is perfect, you can walk to everything in Queenstown. There is ample parking. Next, there is the decor. It is absolutely stunning. Vibrant, quirky, lush. Incredible wallpaper, lovely antiques, impeccable bedding, colorful tiles, but all in keeping with the age of the house. Then there is the pampering. The staff turn into friends immediately, and they will do everything in their power to make your stay memorable and perfect. Breakfast is divine, but there are also treats in the midday, followed by wine and canapés after 5. Also, my husband is celiac and they went above and beyond to ensure he had his own gluten free treats, they even bought a new toaster to prevent cross contamination! I can't applaud them enough, we stayed 4 nights and I just about cried when we left. This is true luxury.
