After a long day of driving from Christchurch we were very pleased to arrive at Pounamu - especially to be told that they have a spa on site that can be booked by guests (no charge). Our 'apartment' was basically a small room - but they utilised the space really well so the room was packed with amenities (including kitchen)....

There is very little negative here. The views are crazy amazing. Ultra modern finishings, clean, AC, fireplace. Negatives, coming from the US, we are very ADA concious. Anyone with a mobilty restriction would have serious trouble. No elevators and at least 3 flights of stairs to get to any room, that I saw anyway. Twin beds feel undersized, and had...

We stayed in a studio room which is average in size but clean, comfortable bed and large floor to ceiling windows. Our room faced the back which was quiet for the most part however the other rooms closing their doors could be heard. The location is not close to the action, however on a nice sunny day it was very scenic...

We stayed for several days at the Pounamu Apartments - a well-appointed studio apartment with everything we needed (and GREAT Manuka Honey toiletries). It was everything we needed. What set the stay apart however, was the stellar staff...everyone went the extra mile to help us with logistics (i.e. to get our tour bus to pick us up in front of...

Booked expecting an apartment style but the room (studio) was more rightly a hotel style room that served as a bedroom to the 'real' apartments - which by the way I would recommend as we actually upgraded to one one night (while view was great if you are a light sleeper the road noise is pretty bad).

Would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Queenstown! I stayed for four nights during March. Found the studio apartment to be a bit pricey, but was a nice room. The only drawback I found was that the internal road between the blocks is unpaved, quite unexpected really, given how pricey the apartments are. I had to pay for...

A 10 minute walk into Queenstown means your central, and only $10 cab fare. The view from the apartments (not studio) is stunning over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountains. We had the opportunity to view in sunshine, moonlight, rain, cloud and the view takes on a different persona accordingly. The apartments are comfortable, well fitted out and have everything...

We've visited Queenstown four times now and Pounamu has been our most disappointing accommodation thus far. It's a good solid place, but is so over-priced that it's not worth it (over $550 NZD per night for a small one bedroom). What's great: the apartment itself is well-appointed and nicely furnished, very sleek and modern with gleaming white cabinets and counters...

Pounamu Apartments are conveniently located by the main road into Queenstown overlooking the Frankton arm of Lake Wakatipu. Our modern ground floor apartment was beautifully appointed - two double en-suite bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen with large living room, laundry, and a patio for evening drinks. Reception was friendly and efficient, and the offer of a bottle of wine when attractions/tours...

Recently stayed at this property while on vacation in Queenstown. I booked it off hotels.com and unfortunately it did not mention that there are essentially two rooms in the suite which means someone else would be staying in the room adjacent to your suite. It's not a huge deal but it means that you have to share the laundry facilities...

“The one bedroom apartments are best. The studios do not have a view. With the glass doors at the front closed the traffic noise is cut off”

“The apartments are all self contained.”

“Even though more expensive, the front apartments are the ones to go for. Those at the rear get the afternoon sun, which is probably welcome in winter but way too hot in the summer months. There is an air pump which alleviates it somewhat, but remains uncomfortable until nightfall.”
