This was one of the nicest spots we stayed in during our trip to New Zealand. New buildings with very nice layout and very modern bathrooms. Very clean. Each room steps out onto a deck that has spectacular views of the mountains all around and the river that flows beside. Once the sun goes down, open the door to the... More

For $50/night I expected to be able to have shower in a clean environment. Impossible. During our two night stay, there was not one moment when the bathrooms were not full, even the 3am pee break found that there were people showering. This is likely due to the fact that that there are only 6 showers for an entire campground... More

We spent a night here but would not recommend it. The Lodge has dorm style rooms, small rooms for couples and a few rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Most people who stay here share the common bathrooms which we found disgustingly dirty. If you have many people sharing bathroom facilities, you need to make sure that they are cleaned often and... Our family of 5, 3 children under 10 were booked into the lodge in a powered site for 2 nights. The setting was lovely and we enjoyed our day and cruise in the beautifully breathtaking sounds area. That's we're it ended the sandflys at the lodge were so bad it was impossible to standout side. The lodge facilitates were way... More

This place is probably the best option in Milford. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the bathroom is functional with hot powerful showers (if you choose the right one, some are just trickles. The best men's shower is the third from the left). The lounge area is really nice, it is the same as the cafe seating area so... More

Milford Sound is one of the most isolated tourist destinations in New Zealand. Because it is is so remote, the pricing is a bit high, but it makes sense. Be aware that if you're staying in the dorms, it's not much better than staying in the campsite. This isn't to say it's bad - I enjoyed it once I'd adjusted... More

Not a bad hostel. Visited at the start of autumn. Shared a dorm with 4 friends. Bed was comfy and had a decent blanket. The food from the cafe was really nice. We chilled in the lounge area in the evening, it was nice, but hard to get seats as it was so packed. Only thing I wasn't keen on... More

Stayed at the lodge for 3 nights . Initially were worried about getting bored but what an amazing experience. Booked one of their mountain chalets. Utmost privacy , amazing unblocked view surrounded by mountains . The chalets were worth the money , big spacious rooms , amazing view , big beds , nice staff. Milford is totally worth the money,... We stayed 2 nights in a motorhome at the lodge. Lovely area, so picturesque. Administration could do better. Booking process was strange, blamed on computer malfunctions, conditions of booking had changed however when pressed honoured the advertised deal. Word of warning, great scenic area but unless you are adventurous and ending or entering an outdoor activity there is nothing to... More

We shared a dormitory room with my daughter and my parents, and have no complaints - apart from my Dad's snoring! The onsite café is great, healthy and tasty food and not expensive which is really good because it's not like there is much competition in Milford. The shower and toilet block facilities are clean and modern. The stars in... More
