It is simply not possible to fully experience Milford Sound in a day trip... Stay in Milford to enjoy its pure beauty after the day tripping crowds leave and before they arrive. Just 5 minutes drive from Milford Sound cruise boats, Milford Sound Lodge is ideally located. With picture...
A beautiful little accommodation in Milford Sound. They were very accommodating to allow 3 adults in the single Chalet. The Chalet was clean and modern and to be able to look out over the flowing river and mountains was amazing
It does depend on the weather as to how your experience goes, but really - this is a must see experience. The lodge is fine, we stayed in a river view cabin which was nice. Not very private, and seriously needs new beds but had...More
Words cannot explain the beauty of this hidden place! Stayed for two nights, food at Lodge was good and accommodation was super luxury! Heated floors and towel racks make the cold bareable once u return to your house with spectacular views!
Firstly, make sure you book well in advance, it's popular. The drive in and out is un describable. It rains 260 days a year which only adds to the magic. Our cabin on the river had views of the snow capped mountains and incredible waterfalls...More

We just returned from new zealand. drove from queenstown to milford sound and it was a pretty long drive. try to start the drive early. We started at 10am and we arrived at about 4pm so it was a total of 6 hours. we had a few times of stop for some stretching and coffee. a drive without breaks is simply impossible to be honest. We also did just a day visit at milford. It was an amazing stay at the lodge and also the cruise was beautiful. there are many place to hike at milford and if you plan to do that, you will need more than a day. but if you are only doing just a cruise and aren't tired from the driving, one day is enough.
