The hotel has a good restaurant. Some residents in Invercargill think Kelvin hotel is the best hotel in the city. so, I booked a room but the room was ok. The bed was terrible, too old. I would never try this hotel again.

Hello Jeong, I am disappointed that you didn't like the bed. what was wrong? which room did you stay in? without information it is very hard to do anything. Changing rooms or beds can be a very simple fix. Aaron More

This is the only real hotel in the central city. On the plus side, it's quiet at night (once the neighbour turned the TV off). The bed was very good and not too firm... The aircon unit was nearly silent which is nice if you're a light sleeper. The only downsides are that the room I had did have a... More

Spent 2 night at the Kelvin with a friend. The room was large and very comfortable containing 2 double beds, coffee/tea making facilities, small fridge and very clean and tidy en suite. Staff were amazing and very helpful. Southern hospitality at it's best. Nothing was a problem. Free secure car parking available adjacent to the Hotel. Great little public Bar... More

The hotel is close to shops, bars and restaurants. Invercargill was quiet when we were there, even during the day. Hotel staff very helpful - when we arrived we discovered agoda had not booked the hotel for us however the lady at reception rescued the situation and found a room despite being fairly full. I had already booked a few... More

This is a lovely hotel with great service, friendly staff and an outstanding restaurant. The menu was extensive and the quality was fantastic. My room was spacious with 3 beds in it, very quiet and overall extremely comfortable. I've stayed here a few times and every stay has been enjoyable. It has a bit of an olde world feel about... This booking was pre-organised as part of a tour to Stewart and Ulva islands. Very comfortable. Excellent restaurant. Excellent staff. Just avoid the rooms above the live entertainment on Floor one. We were in Room 201 right above the music. It would have been ok but the singer on Saturday night was flat AS! Earplugs worked well otherwise. I would... More

Very friendly staff at check-in, and I liked the valet parking option as well. It's located in the middle of town which was very convenient. I had a refurbished room on the 5th floor. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was tidy although the water pressure in the shower left a bit to be desired. The views from my... More

Stayed for a few nights and found the staff to be amazing!! The hotel is tired in places but that adds to the charm, if its modern you want then this is not the place for you. GREAT FOOD, BREAKFAST, LUNCH and DINNER Would stay again

this was a great hotel in its day - today its a really good travellers hotel. It well located staff are really helpful and room are dated but very clean. bathrooms have been updated . However air conditioning noise was irritating. The room was billed as having city views - technically correct but an aesthetic fail..

Let's face it, The Kelvin is old, so it's not going to be super modern, and some of the finishings are a little old, But the Staff and the Service more than make up for this. I having been staying at The Kelvin regularly for the last 6 years for this reason and I will continue to do so. Also... More
