Our room upstairs was very spacious, with a staircase leading upstairs to another couple of single beds. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were perfect! Very well kitted out with everything you'd need. This place has character from the Spanish design to the upstairs sleeping area, giving the room added space. Check in was pleasant and staff friendly....

Not sure when this was built but it did seem like entering a time capsule with the stained red circle windows in the bathroom to the oval doors in the kitchen. Everything seems dated BUT in a good kind of way. We actually really enjoyed our stay there. The rooms were spacious and the kitchen huge. The bed was comfortable...

Stayed 4 nights as part of a sports group. This place was perfect, and the staff could not have been more helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff and management went out of their way to assist, even washing and drying some sports gear for us, as well as extending one of the rooms to enable...

What a great place to stay at. The staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms large and comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom areas were well appionted. Coffee, tea, hot choc and milk supplied daily. Double glacing on all windows is great not only for room temperature control but for noise reduction from the city. Electric blankets, heaters, loads of...

Lovely friendly, caring owners who took the time to take me to my room and show me how the tv worked. I liked the dated style of the accomodation which made it feel rather special. Lovely big, clean, warm and tidy room with comfy beds. Nice dark curtains kept the morning light out and well off the road so no...

We booked through another website & thought we were getting a different room layout than what we arrived to which was unfortunate. We didn't discuss this as 2 of our guests ending up staying somewhere else. The manager adjusted our fee according which is the only reason I've given them 2 stars not one as the rooms were awfully dated...

We stayed here for 1 night. Good location as easy to walk into Dunedin. However as another reviewer mentioned the stair to access the accommodation were in serious need of attention .The apartment itself was spacious and clean but he in need of updating. We have been travelling around nz for 3 weeks as this was one of the oldest...

Good central location but poor accommodation. We arrived as guests of New Zealand Sky to a dull, dreary, dated room on the second floor, which was accessed by a poorly maintained concrete staircase (rather like a stairway found in a 1960 council flat block). The room was a two bedroomed unit, one room downstairs and the second was accessed by...

We were lucky to organise 2 nights at this villa style motel. Very spacious, very clean and very comfortable. The owner offered a good description and map of what we might to explore. He was knowledgeable and lovely chap. Walking distance to the main shops.

The Econo Lodge Alcala offers a central location with friendly and helpful staff. While the rooms are dated its comfortable place to stay with reasonable facilities and I wouldn't hesitate to return .
