The hotel is a heritage building with some great antique features within and an interesting history, but it appeared much of the grandeur has been lost. The location was good, close to the railway station and within a few blocks to the Octagon and city centre, the theatre and a couple of two supermarkets. The university was a bit further...

I have to say this place was very dated and run down. We were very surprised that such a central and well used place has not been cared for and restored. It looks shabby and unclean. The beds were very old and soft. The linen was of poor quality and dated. The pipes make a horrendous noise when you run...

We love this hotel. Very reasonably priced right in the centre of Dunedin with free parking and Wi-Fi. We had a large room with small kitchenette and lounge area. Laundry facilities are available. Meals are excellent and large. There is a bicycle storage area and the hotel is a 5 minute walk to the station and CBD. However traffic noise...

The Leviathan Hotel saved our life! Dunedin was fully packed with students and their families on the eve of the new university year, and we looked for a room everywhere with no success. We even had dinner in a petrol station bar because our accomodation quest lasted for hours and it was too late to look for an open restaurant....

I wasn't thrilled with the manager of this hotel. I asked three times for a heater for my bedroom because it was so cold but it didn't come. Otherwise, it's not a bad location, central and close to the city. Traffic noise is a bit of an issue if you're a light sleeper. It's an old hotel and could do...

The staff are reluctant to help. Everything is too difficult. Even the small stuff like asking directions is a challenge. It seems like too much trouble. The building itself is alright, kind of an old style, though a bit cold inside the rooms, especially in the morning.

Definitely a great place to stay, comfortable, staff is fantastic and the price is great. Great room, nice and clean. Very highly recommended. I've stayed here a few times in the past and it's always consistent and hassle free.

This hotel is in a historical building from the early 1900’s, and still retains some of its grandiosity in patches. However, beyond the occasional historical décor, the hotel itself is not particularly attractive for a number of reasons. Reception was prompt, but without any form of warmth, greeting or even information. Just a “here is your key, you are on...

I stayed here 1 night in a budget backpacker twin room. It was a little outdated but it was comfy, the beds fine and an en suite to myself. Again small but for $60 I'm not complaining. It was a little outdated but I think that added to the character of this place, I don't think it would be the...

We chose this as it was opposite the Early Otago Settlers' Museum and that was where we were to visit with two elderly parents, one in a wheelchair and the other with a walker. We were not expecting a lot from a place referred to as "genteel" but were pleasantly surprised. Although old and creaky, with some odd noises coming...
