Great central Dunedin location( can walk into the octagon and so close to loads of places to eat) except didn't have own shower in room just bath. Nice hospitality though and friendly staff had no issues

We stayed in the newer apartments just for the one night on match day, AB's v Wales. Lovely apartment, clean and warm, great friendly service and a reasonable cost just for the one night. Just wanna say thanks Sahara for not ripping us off, as so many do when there's a match on and high demand!!! 😃😃😃

The Sahara is close to the centre, has lovely hospitality, and a choice of motel or guesthouse. We stayed in the guesthouse on the first floor. The building is old (looks great from the outside) and while the decor is a bit old fashioned, the beds were comfortable, extra pillows were available, and it was very quiet. Shared bathrooms and... I was arriving in the wee small hours on a flight from Brisbane, the hotel upgraded me to a self-contained apartment at the rear so I could access the room more easily. The next morning I was up at 6am and on the road to attend a sporting event, so I was not able to check-in formally until about 7pm... More

We chose the Sahara for its North Dunedin location, just 5-10 or so from Dunedin's Northern Motorway (for a quick start next day). We had booked a family motel unit and whilst clean and comfortable, looked like it was past its Use By date. Not a great view or aspect outside either. The owner was very helpful.

The Sahara is a great option for Dunedin. It's close to everything, has lovely Kiwi hospitality, and a range of room options from motel to guesthouse. I stayed in the guesthouse. The building is old and the decor a tad dated but it was a delight. My room was upstairs, close to the shared bathrooms (I never had to wait)... More

We needed a place to crash for 2 nights while we celebrated a daughter's graduation. Sahara is in an excellent location for walking around Dunedin, especially for a graduate event. We were in a room that opened directly to the reception hall, which I expected to be noisy, and it wasn't, despite the "No Vacancy" sign on the door. As... More

I loved this place! Nothing was too much trouble for the owner and being greeted by the gorgeous Labrador was a great start to our stay. :) Shared bathroom facilities but close by to our first floor room. I love the older furniture and décor, so this made me smile. If you want fancy and new, I suggest the actual... More

the room was very outdated in serious need of an upgrade. I stayed there in mid November so not exactly cold but due to the age/insulation of the building the only form of heating, an old heatpump, struggled to heat the room. Pricing was reasonably expensive for the standard of accommodation. I have stayed in numerous accommodation in Dunedin but... More
