Academy Motor Lodge, Creyke Road, Christchurch, New Zealand
We’ve been travelling into ChCh for the past five years or so – renewing friendships, revisiting special places, etc. from the time when we once lived just outside the city - following the same routines each time...More
Close to Westfield Mall. What you would pretty much expect for 100.00 a night. The one thing that was not great was the bed in our room was hard as a rock, so a comfortable sleep was not an option. Shops & malls not far,...More
Wow we stayed in this complex 20 years ago and we know the owners very well. It was a pleasure to stay again. We had a terrible experience at Airport Gateway Motel and would never stay there again

Close to the University of Canterbury, nice area but few shops or eateries close by. Clean and well-maintained with good kitchen arrangements. We had a large group of young people living across the wall and were noisy.
For those on the way in or out from Christchurch on a road trip, this 2-storey motel is a good option. Situated near the airport, you can head to the Riccarton neighbourhood (especially the main street) nearby (say 5-10mins drive) for supermarkets, restaurants and other...More

LisaM, Search back and find my review of the motel from Jan16. You'll see that I too arrived on a JetStar flight at around the same time and did not get to the motel until 01.00. I'll be doing the same this coming week - another flight to ChCh - and the motel has arrangements for you to collect the key when you arrive. They also left the lights on in our room - so we could see where we were going. Some good plus points for management. It is, of course, essential that you make this kind of arrangement - by informing them of what you are doing, time of arrival and more. Enjoy your time in Godzone then. All good things.
