The owner and other staff couldn't have been more helpful and the unit was spotlessly clean and very efficient. The location was also very good. The two suggestions that we have to make the stay 5 star for travelers are 1) a glass or other shelf in the bathroom for guests to put their toiletries and 2) a small dresser...

This place is amazing. Awesome friendly owners meet and greet. The rooms whether in the Manor or the studio units are luxurious. Relaxing and quiet place to hide away. We were allowed have a poke around in the large Te Wepu room which is suitable for a couple of couples or a family and it was fantastic. The grounds are...

We spent Christmas (and a couple other nights) in the Te Wepu Suite. The old house is beautiful. It is updated, but still has its charm. Bridget and Brian were so accommodating and helpful. I emailed before we arrived with a lot of questions and received quick responses every time. We were traveling as a family of five for two...

Our group of 23 people of 5 families with 10 adults and 13 children (age 4 to 12), stayed at 5 3-bedroom apartments for 3 nights in December 2016. The apartments are on the opposite side of the road from the Merivale Manor and its reception. The apartments were great for our group. Quiet and had everything that we needed...

We stayed a night at the Merivale Manor on Christmas Day in 2016. It is a lovely place with spacious rooms. It is a much more interesting option than staying at a large chain hotel in the city center. The location is good -- only about a 15 minute walk to the city center area and the large botanic gardens...

We had the unit closest to the road, and had road traffic until midnight, starting again about 5.30am. The queen size bed was so soft, it was like sleeping in a double hammock. Single occupancy by someone deaf might have been better. The staff were very efficient and friendly, and knew that road noise was a problem. Our friends had...

We stayed at Merivale Manor for 3 days in early January 2017. In post-earthquake Christchurch, until the rebuild, unfortunately visitors are most likely better off staying in the suburbs and Merivale Manor fits this bill well. There are restaurants and other amenities within a few hundred metres and the CBD is about a 25 minute walk. Merivale Manor has a...

We stayed here twice during our trip to NZ. First was for 2 nights over Christmas, then we returned for one night a week later after visiting further south! We stayed in two different rooms within the house and both were lovely. A real sense of history was felt - especially when sitting on the upstairs balcony as the sun...

We stayed in the 'Te Wepu' suite which was much more luxurious than we were expecting for the price. Excellent self-catering facilities, very friendly staff (even whilst working on New Years' Eve). Rooms were large with great showers in the en-suite to each room, spacious hallway and lounge. Enjoyed having a drink on the large veranda. Direct bus route into...
