We found Merivale Manor on a walk about and from the moment we first met Warren Peat, the manager, we knew we had found very special accommodation. We stayed upstairs in the manor house, in the Farr Suite, with a two-sided view through extra large windows of the Merivale environs. We relaxed in the afternoons on a semi-private balcony, drinking...

We booked a room on their homepage that was free. The booking went through with a booking confirmation sent to me. After that did we hit the road again (without WiFi and no access to mail). When we arrived was we told by the manager that they had a glitch in their system for 6 months(!!!) that caused the system...

The apartment was across the street from the main residence but this wasn't a big issue. Good location near city and walking from good shops. Managing was helpful and friendly . Certainly recommend it for a Christchurch stopover. The three story apartments were comfortable , breakfast provisions were a nice addition. Beds and showers were comfortable and hot.

This place was great! Modern, clean, comfortable accommodations in a convenient location. The light breakfast they provided was also appreciated! We stayed in an apartment across the street from the main Manor. Our unit was 3 stories. There was a master bedroom with en suite bathroom on the first floor. The second floor featured a cozy sitting area, kitchenette, and...

We stayed 2 nights in the manor house in a studio apartment. The actual building is beautiful but is marred by the truly ugly motel style rooms that are situated either side of the drive. I did not notice this when I booked online. The hotel is situated on a very busy street amongst many other motels. The bed was...

Stayed here for a few nights as we wanted to explore Christchurch for a couple of days before picking up the campervan we had booked for our holiday. The owners were absolutely wonderful, probably the most friendly owners or managers of any place I have stayed!! They were really helpful with tips about where to go and what to see...

The guest house is comprised of a 1800's manor house with motel units adjoining. We have a very small studio in the manor house overlooking the street. The hosts Warren and Gweneth are very welcoming and relaxed. The studio is spotlessly clean and comfortable. Every thing you need is supplied including provisions for breakfast such as bread, butter, cereal jams...

Just superb peaceful place to stay. Slight far from city centre but it's very well connected. The property is very well maintained and owners are very helpful. Superb hosts to stay with. The shopping mall with all restaurants is within 200 Mtrs

We love this place! We stayed in a unit of three storey apartment (townhouse) opposite from the manor. Very clean. Everything is in very good condition and neatly stashed. Beds are super comfy with heater/electric blankets on it, too. They give us bread and milk and butter and jam for breakfast in the fridge. Coffee, tea and cereals are available...

We stayed for one night on the way to Greymouth. The hosts were lovely. We stayed in one of the smaller villa type rooms along the side but it was great - spacious and 'homey'. We had the best night's sleep also! Great to stay somewhere with genuine and kind hosts. Definitely recommend!!
