This review reflects my experience for both my stays in October and November 2024. To the management and staff at the Commodore in Christchurch, New Zealand, BRAVO! During both stays, your hotel was well maintained, and it's appearance was way more appealing than the traditional box hotels I typically travel with. The wood accents and abundant lighting made for a cheery ambiance. The gardens were well kept, and the enclosed pool area was well ventilated and did not have a lingering chlorine smell like so many do. Your restaurant was another standout. The warm, inviting fireplace and accompanying references to the Air National Guard unit supporting the Antarctica missions were a great addition to the food prepared with purpose and style, not just something produced and plated in a hurry. BRAVO especially to the staff. Mike the manager obviously led by example as he offered to help with my bags. Everyone was helpful and greeted me with a smile along with the typical New Zealand hospitality. For those considering a stay in Christchurch, don't let the location close to the airport sway you for fear of noise. Not once was I disturbed even when napping in the middle of the day. Amazing service from the Front desk Staff. They came all the way to the car park for taking my bags and were very personable with me and my family. Excellent Breakfast, very convenient location for heading off to the airport. The car park was very spacious and was impressed with the room size since it was larger than more expensive hotels in New Zealand during my staff. This is the best airport hotel I have stayed in and would highly recommend for anyone who requires to use Christchurch airport

Absolutely a class act and very close to the airport. Beautiful area. The manager/owner personally welcomed us and gave us great advice on transportation to downtown and nice places to visit. They also worked diligently to prepare a room for us, even though we arrived quite early from our cruise ship. The restaurant/bar was wonderful, the people so friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous, well stocked, and we had a cute private patio to enjoy the outdoors. We would absolutely recommend this hotel.

Had an excellent stay at the Commodore following a week in NZ...This is exactly the type of place where you want to stay after a vacation in NZ and before a long flight home. Owned by the same family for 50+ years, they have invested a lot, making this among the nicest airport hotels we have ever stated at... The rooms are freshly renovated with great decor and furnishings. Excellent shower (which is key on a long trip!) and the restaurant was exceptional. (At dinner I had very good house-made raviolis, and a great breakfast.). Big indoor pool and hot tub to relax in... And excellent service - very friendly and ready to serve. Free and easy airport shuttles (5 min to the terminal). I would value this hotel anywhere, but particularly appreciated at the airport after a long trip.

I cannot rate this hotel highly enough, the hotel is modern and in great shape, just off the airport their shuttle responds in less than five minutes. The staff are exceptionally polite and NOTHING is too much trouble. I have stayed in 10 hotels whilst I have stayed on the south island here in New Zealand and none of them has come close to measuring up to the Commodore. I stayed twice with the Scenic Hotel Group, you can read one of my reviews on that, but suffice to say there is absolutely no comparison! I lost a bag and I thought I may have left it at the Commodore. I called Michael the manager who checked this out for me and came straight back on the phone, if he had found it he would have had it delivered to me. As I say you cannot go wrong when booking here!

It's now our go to hotel for staying in the Christchurch airport precinct. Having on this occasion had our flight cancelled and then a substitute flight delayed we arrived in Christchurch almost 11 hours after planned, but the 24 hour pick up and reception service was excellent - friendly, welcoming and professional and all at about 2.30 am. The room on the second floor was very quiet, and nothing woke us up super early, so that was a bonus. On previous occasions we've dined at their restaurant but I cannot comment on this occasion.
We the stayed again three weeks later prior our flight back home, and once again, as good as always.

Quite simply one of the finest hotel experiences. Staff made puréed vegetable baby food unprompted, effortlessly delayed our checkout time, and found brought me coffee when I was up with an early waking infant.
And the rooms and gardens are magic.
It feels like everywhere stripped down services during the pandemic while charging higher prices but the Commodore defied this global trend.

I stayed at this hotel less than 10 minutes away from the airport, boasting a free on-demand shuttle service. The tranquil ambiance with beautiful grounds added to the appeal. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable, Elena and Nicole were just a couple of people from a great team. My "premium" room, situated on the first floor of a separate building, offered a comfortable stay. While the furniture showed signs of age, the excellent mattress and pillows more than compensated. For those seeking convenience, delightful staff, and a superb bed, this is the ideal choice. The option to easily take a bus downtown is a bonus, especially considering the pricey parking situation in the city center.

We stayed at the Commodore Hotel on the way home to the USA at the end of our trip to NZ. It was such a nice way to end the trip. Beautiful landscaping, pleasant staff, comfortable large rooms, excellent restaurant, and wonderful amenities. Rooms had great blackout curtains and were very quiet. Daughter and I enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and Badu jet for a long swim before heading out to the airport. We will absolutely look to stay at the Commodore again and would definitely dine there again. Delicious food, excellent service, preparation and value. Thank you Commodore!

From the minute we arrived, we were welcomed. Customer service was great- from ensuring we would be able to have food (even though it was just on closing time for the kitchen) to staff member who explained all of the facilities. Staff were really helpful and showed initiative. The premium room was long and well laid out with separate areas. The bathroom offered twin showers and a bath. There were Milo sachets in the coffee making facilities ( I am not sure when I last saw those). It was good to see 2 bins in the lounge area, one for recycling and one for rubbish. The huge bed was comfortable. Loved the pool in the morning. There was a lovely Christmas display. I only booked this place because of the shuttle and proximity to the airport, but I wouldn't hesitate to book it again, so I could enjoy another delicious Patterson's breakfast and enjoy the fire, the tennis courts, the relaxing gardens area. Well worth visit.

Hi I m booked in next week to stay at the Commodore . The hotel is being used as a quarantine hotel. The procedures used by the Hotel are that all people under quarantine will be housed in wings separate from regular guests. No contact will be permitted. The management of the Commodore set high standards and the staff are first class. I hope that you enjoy your stay
