I like Ridges, I really do. It's a nice tidy generic "corporate" hotel, which I have visited before. I like the rooms and the little lap pool, and it's in a good spot. On this occasion I was staying with my family, and it seemed the hotel had underestimated the number of people visiting this long weekend. Check in was...

Hi John, Thank you for your review. Despite unfortunately having a disappointing experience during breakfast, we do appreciate your feedback so we can work to correct any issues. Our breakfast buffet has become very popular, and thus can sometimes get quite busy. As you witnessed for yourself, this does have it's downsides. We are currently working on various solutions to...

A warm welcome and speedy service at reception, prearranged requests were verified also. We stayed in a superior king room on the 5th floor. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated. There was a balcony which gave us city views. I personally do not like air conditioning and was grateful for the personalised unit that I could turn off, keeping...

We live an hour out of Wellington and frequently catch a 6:30 am flight to Sydney (and beyond!). Rydges has become our "go to" hotel because of its proximity to Wellington Railway Station. We can then travel to Wellington the afternoon before by train and make the short walk to Rydges. As members of Rydges' loyalty programme we each get...

Regarding your stay, we're so glad you had an enjoyable time, and made use of our convenient proximity to the Railway Station. We hope you had a good trip to Sydney, and thanks...

This is a well located hotel in Wellington with friendly staff. The concierge was particularly helpful with bookings for a local trip we wanted to do. Because of the position of the hotel I would request for a Harbour View room as there is a rather old NZ Post building on one side that is not particularly beautiful. The view...

Hi petitmonde, Thank you for your thoughts! We're very happy to read that you enjoyed the view from your room, and the comfy chair to snooze in! It's also nice to hear that, once set, the air con was to your liking. Regarding our buffet breakfast - what a great way to describe it! We do hope you indulged a...

Handy Location near to the Waterfront. Really happy for the kettle for tea and it was useful to have the fridge available. Enjoyed the balcony facing over to the city and really got a lot of sun - lovely to watch the sunrise from in fact. Good spacious bathroom and the anti steam section on the mirror again was a...

We're pleased to read that you enjoyed various room facilities such as the kettle and anti-fog mirror - both are super handy indeed! First and foremost the bedding was extra comfortable. Add to it a great location, excellent staff, extensive and well prepared buffet breakfast, and yummy and decently priced dinner choices at The Portlander. Only thing our room was lacking was a city view. Would definitely recommend. Stayed four nights.

Reading 'Would definitely recommend' is definitely one of our favourite things to see in a TripAdvisor review. :) If you have a spare moment, please consider leaving a review over on Portlander's separate TripAdvisor page too - we'd very much appreciate it! After meetings all day I walked back to the hotel in the freezing wind. I opened my door and the room was heated to a crispy warm temp and my bag was in there. Such a lovely way to end the day. Hi Ramari, Wow - what a lovely review! Thank you so much for your kind words, we really do appreciate them. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile for our guests, so making sure you're not coming home to a cold room is the least we can do (especially considering Wellington's notorious weather)! Honestly I only have one compliant and it's the heater unit. It has no thermostat or any way to adjust it. Plus it's really noisy. Room and all was just ok,nothing good or bad to say about it. The rooms are very comfortable, the only complaint is the air conditioning makes the room a bit hot and stuffy through the night, but is preferable to no air con at all. The staff are very courteous and helpful.

Having stayed at all the other 'named' hotels in Wellington over recent times, we'll always come back to Rydges on Featherstone as our first choice. Excellent location, close to the best restaurants, harbor and Westpac Stadium - and a very impressive restaurant and bar.
