Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a lovely hotel. Suite was very large and had everything needed from washing machine to dishwasher, cafetière, and spotlessly clean. What makes this hotel however is the staff who are without exception friendly and helpful. The hotel has a really nice vibe and would stay here again without hesitation.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Bolton. The premier bedroom was comfortable, clean and spacious. It also had a mini kitchen which was helpful to make light meals. Staff were helpful . I didn’t use any of the amenities or have breakfast there as there are lots of places to choose from in Wellington. It’s a 20 min to get in to the centre of the CBD and there will be some stairs to navigate to get up and down to the CBD if on foot. I stayed mid week as a leisure traveller, and it was more business traveller than tourist , which isn’t a bad thing, just an observation. I would definitely stay again if in Wellington.

Great location near the station and main shopping areas. The staff were very nice and helpful. The suite we had was ideal with a comfortable settee, nice kitchen area with a washer dryer, we also had a clothes airer and iron and ironing board, these were very useful after several weeks travelling. Lovely large and very comfortable bed,😊

Great rooms, view, service, and easy access to downtown and my work on the Beehive end of town. I have stayed there 30ish times over the last several years. From the smaller single rooms to the small suites, the rooms and beds are great, and service is always 101%

We stayed at the Bolton for 2 nights - we had one of the smaller rooms & there was not too much room - but adequate - bed was comfortable & everywhere was spotlessly clean - we didn’t use the pool (very small) or gym - lifts were a bit slow at times - we didn’t eat there but enjoyed the near by Old Bailey …. Was about 15-20 minutes walk to waterfront & Te Papa museum which was fantastic.

Stayed here during our trip to New Zealand. Located near the parliament building it is in a good location to access the waterfront. Staff were all very helpful, particularly on at reception and friendly, quickly resolving one problem we had. The room was spacious and very comfortable with full kitchen facilities including a washing machine. Breakfast was ok. Happy to recommend.

My husband and I stayed at the Bolton Hotel for 2 nights in January. The room was amazing-so much more space than I was expecting! Loved the separate sitting area and large bathroom. We weren’t in need of a full kitchen and washer/dryer, but great to know they were available. The only meal we had at the property was one breakfast, which was fine. They seemed understaffed but we received excellent service regardless. Some guests would say it’s not a “walkable hotel”, but It’s an easy walk to the cable car and just a little further to the waterfront. We also walked to the Sky Stadium easily. The only time we used an Uber was to the museum and to Cuba St. Everyone we encountered on staff was exceptional.

Very nice stay. Booked a King room, on arrival took the upgrade to a suite; only there 1 night but really nice to have the extra room. Car park a bit of a dog but concierge handles it well. Dining opens early, good when you’re on an early departure for a ferry. Good location.

We had a fantastic stay here and loved the location near the cemetery. The view from that side of the hotel is the best. Our 1 bedroom suite was very comfortable and refined with plush carpet and a well appointed bathroom with NZ made toiletries. We had a large kitchen and I used the oven a few times to heat up things we had bought in the nearby Countdown supermarket. The staff were all lovely and helpful. The pool, hot tub and sauna were great too. Only small comment is no saf ein room. We would definitely stay again.
