With all the craziness and uncertainty of the last two years hospitality has been hit hard. Managing staff shortages and having to reduce services has been a reality. All of these challenges can result in a stay that does not meet expectations but the Wellesley managed to provide a wonderful experience through lovely staff, a gorgeously unique hotel and a willingness to be helpful. I have stayed in many hotels in Wellington while traveling but this is the first time in the Wellesley and they have shifted to the top of my list. I hope that we soon return to normality and more people will have the opportunity to stay.

From the outside, the lobby and the funny little lift this hotel looks a bit dated and unappealing but the room we had was fantastic. It was very spacious with everything you need. The bathroom too was very spacious with a wonderful large bath. It was all clean, very warm and with helpful staff. Much better value than other places I've stayed in Wellington.

The location is super handy to downtown, the waterfront and the train station, and the price was way better than the other options we considered. Rooms were really nice, plenty of space, comfy beds and great bathrooms that included a tub. They're also all a little different which is fun. I'd definitely stay there again.

The Wellesley offers true olde world charm with a warm and inviting ambience. I love the impregnated smell of wood and authentic touches that other ‘generic hotels’ don’t have. The lift is a showcase piece on its own. It is literally a 5 minute walk to waterfront restaurants and the lower part of Lambton Quay is around the block. All staff are super friendly and helpful and do a wonderful job in these difficult and challenging times.

Although I thought at first it was run down the hotel is surprisingly comfortable. Great sized rooms, quiet area so good sleep and sky TV which is added value. Liked the old lift and the sweeping staircase. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Cleanliness was also very good and very good Covid awareness of staff.

Our first time at Wellesley Boutique Hotel will definitely not be our last. We've found our favourite Wellington sanctuary. Where have you been all our lives? Personality plus, great central location we couldn't want for anything more.

Exquisite place to stay. Beautiful and so comfortable. The room was warm, spacious and had so much charm. It was central and easy to get everywhere. I will absolutely stay here again next time I am down here. By the way, book on their website rather than Boooking or another site. It is easy to book and actually cheaper. I was grateful to discover that and happy to pass that info on to others.
