My honest opinion would be to research alternate hotels. We selected Capital View because we understood it to be convenient to the ferry and it offered free parking. The free parking was a benefit but convenient to the ferry was a stretch. Would not have wanted to stay beyond our two night reservation. Some of the rooms were being renovated...

There for the earthquake and couldn't leave the city for 2 days after that. The manager was excellent, efficient and kind and looked after us all well......no cleaning staff in for 2days. Not plush in any way but adequate and convenient for walking to the city and all attractions. Free parking for all of stay. All essentials in room for...

A no-frills but good value motel. Rooms are clean and tidy. The best point here is the parking and the location. Walking distance from the buzz of Cuba Street, the serenity of the War Memorial and the CBD. Capital value for a capital city :-)

Stayed in this motel for one night and wouldn't return. The room smelt grubby. The shower was very strange it had restricted entry and you need to be 5ft or less to be able to wash your hair without bending your knees! ! The lift only goes to the first floor out of reception hours so you have to carry...

Easy to find from the airport. Close to the War Memorial which was our reason for the booking. For the price it was just ok. Very clean but tired and in need of a bit of an update. Our host was very helpful and put right our 1 complaint immediately. The housekeeper had been in while we were out....we were...

Had a great stay at this hotel. Mark the owner was very pleasant and helpful. The room had been renovated and was comfortable and warm. Amazing value. The only issue was the complimentary wifi was a little temperamental.

They do have car parking which is tight and the place seems like an old timeshare which has seen better days. Short walk to Cuba street where there are lots of restaurants/cafes and not far from waterfront. Sizable rooms even if strangely furnished with pretty old furniture. Guy on front desk a little different and probably doesn't love his job....

Booked here to be close to family. Tidy rooms. 140/night for city view. Kitchenette was handy. A bit of a walk into the city but nothing unreasonable. Not noisy. Internet included in rate. Decor a little dated but functional. Will come again.

The owner was very helpful and friendly aside from when we arrived. Don't think he was please we turned up 15/30 mins after he closed which we didn't know about after travelling 4 and half ours down from Tongariro. We did email though when we set off. As I say, aside from this he gave us much help, looked after...

Clean but very dated. Stayed in penthouse 2 nights -old, stained carpets but plenty of space & nice view. 3 nights in a studio -again dated decor but comfortable. Staff left the door open to the deck despite us locking it before we went out, our friends room was left unlocked and staff made themselves coffee & left dishes in...
