The hotel was once (in the 1950's?) considered the height of luxury. Since then it has come down in the world. Nevertheless, it still has very interesting architectural detail. It now caters to a different clientele and suited us (including the price) fine. It is also in prime position for the station shuttle to the ferry. We were there overnight...

This is one of these combined hotels/backpacker hostels. We stayed at the hotel in a twin room which provided one single and one double bed. All perfectly clean, the bathroom a bit small though. So our room easily sleeps 3pax, additional matresses can be asked for an additional ca. NZD10. Perfect location (right accross from ferry terminal, close to everything...

We stayed here for one night in a twin room. Upon arrival at 10pm after travelling all day we were greeted by a very rude female on the reception desk who just demanded a key deposit. I had a few questions about the area and our onward travel the next day and asked if she could help and she basically...

For convenience we called in for a pub meal having just arrived off the Ferry. The service wasnt great and we did have to wait quite awhile for our meals. The food was worth the wait but I won't be chosing The Waterloo next time. It simply didn't have a nice atmosphere.

the location is awesome. Across the street is a grocery store and the train station. Around the corner is the parliament. you can walk everywhere! The room was nice, too! The kitchen sells food but you can also bring your own food and prepare it in a separate kitchen. It's huge and knives, forks, plates,..are provided. The toilet and shower were in...

My Wife and I stayed at Hotel Waterloo overnight on Monday 30 November 2015. We had travelled to Wellington from Auckland on the Northener Train. Excellent location due to being right across the road from Railway Station. The recently reburbished double ensuite room was spotlessly clean, and whilst small, was perfectly adequate for our needs. Staff at reception, bar and...

The hotel is well located to everything. Though the ensuit room was small it was clean and equipped with necessary requirements. The staff was helpful. I had confirmed an ensuit room months in advance for three night and also paid for it on arrival. However, having paid for the room I was told to vacate room on second day under...

We stayed here as part of a larger group all in Wellington for a concert. The proximity to the Westpac stadium was a huge bonus. Also we liked being able to walk across the road from getting off the ferry. A 15 min walk in to Te Papa and shops. The continental breakfast was cheap and adequate. The shower had...

Went to Wellington for a concert at Westpac Stadium (The Cake Tin). Location to get to the stadium was awesome. 10 minutes walk, maximum. Also handy to the waterfront restaurants, although both nights we went they were ALL fully booked. We ended up eating at the Waterloo instead. Menu was limited. Kitchen and bar were well understaffed. Many people ended...
