Great location . Just an average hotel . Parking extra $30 per day. Didn’t eat in so can’t comment . Hotel was fully booked which is great but meant check in was very slow . Good location if you want to explore Welly city .
We had an excellent group rate for the stay associated with our meetings. The central location, friendly and helpful staff made the stay very comfortable. I like the lift access down to Lambton Quay (for busses and shopping).
Would I go back yes i would but i would want to double check what your bed arrangement is in the room you book. The food was good for breakfast and the general hotel staff was good. I did however not enjoy one of the staff attitude do to his stubbornness. ( but you should let one person ruin the rest of your experience )
The service was great from check-in to check-out. I was there for work, however I didn't experience any delays and the staff at reception were really helpful. The room was neat and tidy, really good. I'd definitely stay at James Cook again.
Great location. New upgraded rooms are big improvement on the old rooms. Beds are very comfortable and rooms very quiet. Downside is parking on arrival especially if loads of people arrive at the same time. It becomes a nightmare.
Our flight to Melbourne was delayed due to a technical. We used the online booking form so we were able to get ahead of the crowd. James Cook staff we brilliant in looking after a couple of frazzled passengers. Room service was very quick and we had a great nights sleep.
Enjoyed my stay here, food was good and rooms tidy and quite. Made trip easy with parking onsite and will use again. Restaurant meal was enjoyable with a reasonably priced buffet. And being right in city was close to everything I needed
Great location but for a shoe box sized room at almost $300 a night no way! Not worth it at all! God awful. I’d pay $150 per night because my room was no better than a hostel size. Food was incredibly amazing! Location great! Rooms god awful not worth money, noisy too
James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is a great place to stay in Wellington. It is central to everything, not far to walk to Parliament area, Te Papa and Cuba Street. So many great restaurants and bars to choose from in the area, it is quite relaxing sitting in the bar at James Cook for a nightcap. The bed is very comfortable with a good range of pillows to choose from.
Stayed two nights and will return again. So handy to town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was easy. Room was lovely and clean and warm. I had already booked the first night online and then rang them to amend my booking for the second night. The staff were so helpful and made it really easy.
