Staff were very welcoming.
The room was ok , no room service or dishwasher.
We did have to walk abit for the carpark as hotel couldn't cater for a medium size SuV.
We got charged $200 by the hotel because they cleaned a hot chocolate spill.
If you do stay make sure you don't spill anything and for a self contained room you can't wash your cloths and no dishwasher.

Unfortunately I hadn’t read the reviews when booking confirmed through a travel agent. Firstly there is no car park to speak of so the nearest car park will cost around 35$ for 24 hrs. It is particularly tight and not easy to manoeuvre your car around, the lift and stairs not pleasant.
The reception staff were all very helpful and friendly. The apartment is a good size, very dated but very clean and comfortable, towels fluffy and plenty toiletries and loo roll. Bed was comfortable but the windows are not sound proofed and although the hotel is in a convenient location for tourist attractions it also has loads of bars restaurants and nightlife nearby. We were kept awake for both nights by drunken revellers going home. Not a restful stay unfortunately and not a recommendation for anyone!

I am not sure where some of those photos have been taken, but it certainly was not in the room that I stayed in! Out dated, only 2 power points worked in the entire 2 bedroom apartment, the TV didn't work in the bedroom, connection to internet did not exist, shower is one of those potable cabins where you feel you are taking a shower in a urinal and belongs more in an Ibis than a Mercure. Hair dryer didn't work and neither did the heaters. So portable heaters had been bought into each of the rooms- you know the ones that you are nervous to leave on while you sleep in case they start a fire and you die in your sleep- yep those ones. Pilows hard as a rock. Towels were once upon a time white but now a lovely shade of grey. But hey at least the location is good. Spend your money somewhere else. I am a member of Accor and can hand on heart say I will never stay here again.

+1

Very disappointed and shocked at how filthy the room was. We checked into Room Number 201. This should have been set up for 4 adults (2 x separate couples) in a 2 bedroom apartment with a harbour view.
Upon entering the room we were astounded that at a time when Covid-19 is still prevalent and hygiene should be at the forefront of everyone's mind we immediately noted the following:
the floor was filthy
the bench top had not been cleaned
the phone was grimy
the walls were dirty with paint peeling
light switches grimy
the cooktop was filthy
the switches to the oven and cooktop were filthy
there weren't any curtain sheers in the 2nd bedroom
insufficient towels (only 2) - set up for 2
no mattress protector on the bed
dust and mould on the walls next to the bed
broken fridge
TV missing from bedroom, holes in the wall
missing towel rail from bathroom
dirty and mouldy carpets
only 2 chairs in dining area
blackout curtains falling off rails
dirty skirting boards by entrance door and mould
mould around windows
no hangers in wardrobe
ceiling and wall panels in the bathroom falling down
We could continue to list many more issues. This room is definitely not fit for purpose and should be condemned and reported to Environmental Health.
We are Accor Members and well travelled. This is the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in and I am sure that if Accor knew of these issues, this accommodation would be shut down.
I have attached a few photos for your information.
The receptionist was amazing and fully understood the issues. She was shown the photos and could not believe how dirty this room has become. She was not able to offer any alternative as the place was full. Fortunately for us we were leaving early the following morning.
The receptionist provided us with a bottle of spray and wipe, a face cloth and tea towel to clean up the worst areas. She also provided us with a double duvet to use as a mattress protector and 2 additional towels.
The car park is too small to fit a large suv, which is what we hired and we were not warned that our car would not fit. We then became stuck and the receptionist tried to assist by getting other guests to move their cars so we could get out of the car park. We then moved our car to Wilson Car Park.

Family of 3 stayed 3 nights and the room wasn’t serviced once (even after requesting it to be done) we ran out of toilet paper, soap and clean towels. Location is handy to city, if travelling by car consider parking is an extra $35 per day. Reception staff are lovely and no doubt doing their best. Obviously need more cleaners.

Right from check in where we were told no housekeeping services unless you requested it to the restaurant / bar being closed on weekends except for breakfast to the very tried rooms this was not a pleasant stay. The high point was a lovely lady called Heather in the restaurant on Saturday morning. The rest of the staff could take lessons from her on customer service. She was just great. When we did request housekeeping (fresh towels etc..) service it did not happen. As for the complimentary drink on arrival could not be used over the weekend and when I went to use it on our last night (Monday) we were told the bar & restaurant were closed. As an Accor Platinum member I was expecting more than this - appreciate it that it is a Mercure but others in the Mercure range deliver more. Overall very disappointing and unlikely we will be back. Thank you Heather for your energy, welcoming service - you are a star

I accept that this a budget priced hotel, although if you need to park the car it will cost you a further $30nz a day (this is clearly indicated when booking so not a surprise)
The room is certainly to a standard I would expect for the price, with large bed, good bathroom, microwave, kettle, toaster and crockery. Good sized wardrobe and dining table. Also has a great range of TV channels, Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube.
What let's it down is what's missing, if you are going to supply crockery and microwave you need to supply some way of washing up and drying stuff.
Also issue with cleanliness of the room. In the bedside drawer I found half a bar of chocolate and 3 face masks. The crockery area of the room was thick with dust and probably not cleaned for weeks.
I appreciate that the hospitality industry, worldwide, is suffer staffing issues, but these are the basics
To finish on a positive note, the staff are so friendly and more importantly cheerful. The onsite self service laundry was also really useful.

Not at all up to Accor standards
I am generally not a person to complain unless it is necessary, and after our stay at the Mercure Wellington Central City Hotel & Apartments
I feel the need to complain. We stayed for eight nights, and if I could have moved us, I would have but there was not availability in town close enough to the conference my husband was attending.
I am a Dimond member and an Accor Plus member and this was not recognized at all throughout the stay.
Cleanliness of Room
The room was in a poor condition, paint chips dirty marks and scruff marks on walls in the room and in the hallway. We found a bottle top on the floor in our room and it was still there when we left. It was under a glass table so not hard to miss. The windows were dirty, no air conditioning and no extractor fan in the bathroom, we had to open the window which made the bathroom very cold. The chairs at the table were dirty and stained, I would not sit on them. Kitchen had dirty marks everywhere.
Elevators
One elevator was out of order and then we were told the other elevator would be out of order from 10pm to 7am on the Sunday and Monday evening. This meant we had to change our plans for the Sunday evening or walk up 14 flights of stairs. The noise during the night when the elevator was being worked on made it difficult to sleep.
Parking
This was a five minute walk from the hotel, while in general I don’t have an issue with this what I do have an issue with was feeling unsafe when entering the car park and the smell and sticky floor in the elevator each time we went in.
Breakfast
Breakfast was included in our room, and if it was not, I certainly would not have been paying for it. It was located off site at the other Mercure hotel a block away and was very average at best. We ate on the Sunday morning at around 8.30am and seemed to be only a couple of tables eating at that time. Food was cold, eggs over cooked. Chef came out to check the buffet and it looked like he just rolled out of bed, was very untied and dirty looking.
Staff
We cam down from our room several times to find staff gossiping loudly at the front desk and eating dinner. Not a good look at all.

Some reviews are very low, but to me they are mostly moaners who want the Hilton experience for a budget or backpackers price. We like the Mercure apartment and we book this whenever we are in Wellington . It's the best location you can dream of. The best eating places are just around the corner, so is the Te Papa museum and Courtney Place.
The staff at the Mercure are wonderful, better than many other hotels. The apartment is comfortable, clean and serviced daily. The breakfast nook is very small though. You fill the water kettle in the bathroom for a cuppa. There is no toaster, but there is a good and powerful microwave oven. We have no complaints, but of course don't use a magnifying glass if you really want to find any dust, of course you will find some. Just get over it and enjoy all the good things this place and the environment has to offer. Moaners should just stay away from New Zealand anyway.

Don’t believe the photos, the place is very tired and dilapidated. Definitely don’t pay extra for a Harbour View room, the adjoining property is under development, the scaffolding and building wrap obscures the view, not to mention the construction noise - all of which was never mentioned when booking or checking in.
We booked two rooms, specifying in writing that one to be a twin. This wasn’t done and upon asking for it to be fixed, the very grumpy house manager tried to make it seem like it was our fault. The resulting beds were worse made up than our teenagers manage. To cap it off one of the kids had to sleep on a bed propped up with the bible and a telephone book to stop it collapsing. We also heard from another couple staying they were without hot water.
The receptionist was friendly but having the manager unlock and walk into our room while I was changing was unprofessional, done without apology and pretty much summed up the expensive experience. Avoid if possible.

We had a one bedroom unit but the door to our balcony was locked and it was covered in pigeon poo. I would check with the hotel if yours is accessible. Cheers Steve
We found and booked the apartment through general booking site (not through Accor). What we found and booked for was what we got so we were happy with accomodation.
Hi Tessa Lee, we stayed in a one bedder - great view. Like mousey84 we got free Wi-Fi as Accor members, but we didn't have a car so can't help re parking.
Dear Angie,
WIFI is free for Accor Le Club Members. Available at a cost with various plans for non members, starting from $10 for 1GB data.

Saurabh
