Rooms and building deserve a refresh. The staff is so kind and helpful. Position OK for city center. Breakfast in the other hotel on the other side of the block (ok for a young couple but potentially a problem for impaired people)

I had the opportunity to visit Wellington during a short trip and I must say Hotel Grand Mercure was very convenient and comfortable. The hotel is very well located in the city centre, close to most of the local attractions, restaurants and bar. My bedroom was conveniently equipped for my short trip. The front of house staff was very helpful...

I stayed here on business for 4 nights, in a first floor unit. I cannot fault either the accommodation or service. The room was spacious and serviced daily to a high standard. Even though this establishment doesn't have a bar or restaurant they have a sister hotel just around the corner that does. The front counter staff were efficient, the...

Hotel has had a superficial uplift to modernize the interiors. Though there are some things that some things they obviously missed e.g. Exhaust fan and balconies, these did not detract from the experience. The rooms are well sized and have plenty of space for relaxing or working. The rooms are serviced thoroughly everyday. Kitchen has everything you need for cooking...

The room was very pokey, Windows difficult to shut so typical wind hounded all night. Would have been ok if the tiny room had air conditioning. Very tired building which should be knocked over and start again. Front desk staff pleasant and close to restaurants which is good because this place has nothing. Do yourselves a favour and stay elsewhere,...

We had our usual high expectations as this is an Accor property, and in summary, we were disappointed: Very noisy at night - and as there is no air conditioning it is either keep the windows closed (which only helps a little) or put up with the noise of loud bar patrons, fighting and rubbish removal at 5am. There is...

Bed was ugh. Wardrobe was falling off the hinges. Audible sexy time coming from the neighbours room. The iron was full of gunk and ruined the right arm on my white shirt when I went to push the spray iron thing (just as well it was a windy day so I had my suit jacket on) The shower pressure was...

This is a very old tall skinny building that has had a bit of a makeover -- with an emphasis on the word 'bit'. The entrance lobby is OK and the staff are nice - and the location was convenient for what we needed with easy access to Te Papa Museum, the restaurant-laden Cuba Street, and the waterfront area. But...
