Very friendly and warm welcome. Rooms perfectly adequate for a short stay. Would have liked an extra blanket available in room. Bathrooms clean and tidy. Breakfast buffet style and plentiful. Location perfect, we found no problem with road noise. Very accommodating in regards to parking, in fact felt nothing would have been a problem. If we asked we got and... More

We booked via AirBNB - our first experience with them. Lots of pre-trip comms to ensure everything was good and an early check-in was offered if required. We arrived on a slightly unprepossessing street at this cool building and the landlord was there within seconds to let us in, give a quick induction and show us to our room -... More

Gourmet Stay does have some negatives. The noise from Taranaki St. does make it through the walls; the bathroom is shared with 2-3 other rooms. The compressor on the mini-fridge in our room was loud enough to wake me once in the night. The positives, though, make those unimportant. The hotel is bright, personal and welcoming, and so are the... More

I booked last minute as a single female traveller. This place is such an awesome find. Clean comfortable room. The breakfast set up is great. Was so impressed by the friendly host and how welcome I was made to feel. Handy to the CBD. Highly recommended.

Nice set-up-- somewhere between an upscale hostel and B&B. Very friendly, free wifi, continental breakfast. Just a few blocks from Cuba St and other restaurants. Great value for the price. The side street it's on is a little dark but quiet at night.

I can't begin to explain how excellent my stay here was. The staff, in addition to being so friendly, helped me book a ferry and rental car, dried my laundry for me (!) and recommended nearby restaurants and a wine bar. I'm thinking about rearranging my itinerary so that I can come back!

Overall a pleasant stay based on the price we paid for a family consisting of two adults and three children. The managers, Dwayne and Haley, were very hospitable and offered plenty suggestions in regards to local activities/ attractions. Location was good with close access to Te Papa and many excellent restaurants/bars/cafès. We do feel that attention to detail is lacking... More
