During a road trip around the North Island we were fortunate to have a night at the beautiful Charlemagne Lodge which, although primarily a function venue, does offer bed and breakfast to travellers provided it doesn't clash with function bookings. We visited mid-week and were lucky enough to have the whole house to ourselves. The tariff was very reasonable and...

We spent a night on the weekend staying at this stunning venue - wow! The place has such a beautiful old word feel about it, and was immaculate inside and out. The bed was comfortable, the room clean, the hosts were exceptional and we wanted for nothing. Highly recommend!

It has taken me awhile to review the Charlemagne, however in November of 2014 we had our work function here. The venue is beautiful with lush gardens and a great outdoor setting. Bar staff were on hand to pour our drinks and were courteous and the catered food was delicious. The function room was large and suited our small team...

Fantastic venue, beautiful lodge setting. However, very over priced and the people running the place(one lady in particular) are very money hungry and not the nicest of people to work with. They charge $9 corkage per bottle and charge you for broken glasses (you would think that would be included in the $3000 hirage fee!) Tried to charge extra for...

i attended a wedding here in February. it was so beautiful. the house was so charming. the gazebo area for the ceremony was lovely. although the ceremony was very long winded and standing in the hot sun was not a lot of fun. the rest was great after that. reception area decorated wonderfully.

I just love these old restored places such charm such architecture with its beautiful plaster ceilings and all the antiquated light fittings just awesome and for such a place to be run by such lovely folk seems only fair, was only there for one night but was very impressed with everything , such charm the love and the good service...

We attended our niece's wedding at the Charlemagne on 4th Feb and absolutely loved the setting, it was so romantic. The small gazebo is lovely for the ceremony but we were disappointed that the celebrant did not hold the microphone high enough to be able to hear properly. It was extremely hot so many of the guests were trying to...

We stayed at the lodge for the first few days of our honeymoon. We were jetlagged after traveling from Boston, MA, USA and were so grateful to have such a lovely place to relax after our journey. We were the only guests and were bumped up from a smaller room to the largest room. Since we were the only guests...

Ever wanted to stay in a Victorian mansion, but don't want to pay too much? Then Charlemagne lodge could be for you. It's a bit of an odd "hotel" or B&B as the locale is clearly more of a venue for weddings (so I'm guessing trying to get a room on the weekends would be very difficult), but if you...

“We didn't stay in the lodge- we only attended the wedding. The bride and groom stayed in the lodge and we were able to go in and see the rooms etc. which were beautiful.”
