Wow, love this Hotel, and now its got even better.
We attended a conference there last year and it was great, a couple of things were a let down, but not this time.
Could not fault, check in a breeze, nice room, with a view of the lake, dinner was superb, mouth watering, whoever your chef is, keep him/her!
Breakfast service was way better than last year, and it was all hot..
Pool is having a make over so was closed, but were offered complimentary entry to De Bretts Thermal Pools next door.. Fabulous.
Can not fault this Hotel. Thank you Shubham for what you have achieved in the past year with the running of the restaurant. 10/10! We will be back1

We stayed for one night in a one bedroom apartment, which was very pleasant, spacious and clean.

Pros
View over lake Taupo was lovely. Great bathroom. Pool and hot spa were fabulous. Washing machine was a bonus after a week of hiking.

Cons
Booked through Qantas hotels. Price comparable to booking with Hilton directly, so opted for Qantas double points offer at the time of booking vs measly Hilton honors points. When I was asked for all of my details at check-in, I asked if I could provide my Hilton honours number to save the hassle of filling out the check-in form. I was brusquely advised that I would not get points, to which I responded that I know, I would just like to check in. Other front desk staff, however, were very polite and helpful.

Gym was tiny and had limited equipment.

Steam room was a joke... turn on instructions said red button, but there was only a green button! When heated, it smelt like old fish.

Room service for dinner... food arrived in cardboard boxes and plastic dishes for sauces etc. How on earth is that environmentally friendly?

Bathroom - small plastic containers for shampoo etc was a shock...everywhere else we stayed at in NZ had refillable dispensers for shampoo, soap etc.

Only powdered coffee available in the room, ridiculous given the price.

Absolutely loved our recent one night stay at the Hilton Taupo. We cannot fault the place one bit... from the receptionist, Anne’s lovely welcome and sweet talk about the hotel to the stunning clean room(definitely recommend Room 336) which is so spacious and has a big bathroom with two hand basins, a full bath and seperate shower. The large deck overlooking the stunning lake and mountains is worth that little bit extra for the plus rooms. Me and my partner made the most of the hotel facilities with the big heated pool, spa, gym, sauna and steam room. The bed and pillows are great quality and felt like we were sleeping on clouds. Breakfast in the morning was included and was so delicious, I like the option of the buffet or a cooked meal... we chose eggs Benedict from the cooked menu and it was fast and tasty. All staff we came across were so sweet and said hi. Will definitely be returning next time but for a longer stay 😁 Until next time Hilton Taupo!

My partner and I made a road trip up from Wellington on a week’s leave. I made a booking online in the morning to stay overnight, undecided as to where we would stay the next. It was my first trip to Taupo and first stay at a Hilton, so I was looking forward to it after reading reviews and looking at photos.

However, we were assigned a room on the ground floor looking out onto the main path to other rooms and the hedge of the pool area, with not a lot of natural light. People walking up and down to their rooms or the pool area looking at us if we sat on the small patio felt not particularly private either. Photos somehow had made the room type look larger; in reality, although adequate, it was a small room with a shower-only bathroom.

So disappointing. But, because we got a discounted deal online, I felt like I shouldn’t complain and maybe this was our penance for that. The night before we had stayed in Palmy and got a huge room with a spa in it for less, so it just all went abit meh for me after we walked into the room.

It was midweek and due to COVID Lvl 2 obviously not a full hotel, so to be assigned that room just felt like there was not a lot of thought or care taken.

Accordingly we checked out quite early and chose to stay at one of the lake front hotels for the remainder of our stay in Taupo, which was magical.

Positives;

The reception staff member that checked us in also checked up on us via text in the evening at around 7.30pm, which was nice. We felt like complaining at that time of the night was pointless though and just asked for firmer pillows which were delivered promptly.

The room was very clean. The housekeeping staff obviously work very hard and to a very high standard.

The gymn is big & modern with lots of natural light; my partner enjoyed that. The heated pool and spa were great for a cold late winters day. There were also steam and sauna rooms (shut due to Lvl 2 restrictions).

The older part of the hotel has been restored beautifully so adds a lot to the overall ambience of the hotel.

Booked the Junior suite for a weeks break. It was advertised with a private balcony, so we took this option to allow us to sit outside and enjoy the extra space. However, it was not very private! The balcony has large double windows which are viewed from the adjacent rooms. So they have full viewing of the balcony from the lobby. Certainly not private and not as advertised. Meals from room service were terrible. In other basic motels where I have had room service, the meals are the same as those served in the restaurant, but delivered to the room. If this was what was served in the restaurant, I would have walked out! They were also cold and there was no option of heating facilities in the room. Bread and Dips, is actually bread and Dip (not plural), just one small avocado aiola...and the cheese platter was, well I'll just say, not a platter I have ever received anywhere else! We did call and complain on some of the food as it was of very low standards. I was advised that this would be deducted from my final bill.
On checkout, I did let them know that I was dissatisfied of my whole experience. They said it was their obligation to ensure that this would be compensated. They offered me a 10% discount . They then said this would be $11! How they got $11 I don't know, as the room cost $1000. They then said the 10% was to be taken off room service and as a good will they would increase this to $18. The $18 they offered was actually one of the meals we had complained about previously and was going to be deducted anyway...so there was no further discount actually offered to me. I told them I was extremely disappointed, and insulted with an $18 offer to make me satisfied with my visit. You would expect more from the Hilton, but the accommodation and the staff do no credit to it's name. They are quite happy to look at local support "Holiday in your own backyard", but do nothing to make this enjoyable. We were so looking forward to a break and some normality through the Covid restrictions, however we were let down badly. I was going to add some pictures of the food we received, but wouldn't embarrass myself further.

I stayed just last week at the Hilton Lake Taupoand absolutely loved every minute of our stay. The service was impeccable. The staff coped very well as they had recently reopened after COVID shutdown and were fully booked.
We were warmly greeted by the reception staff, treated with kindness and politeness by all staff in food and beverage area as well as housekeeping. We were also bid farewell by the same staff as we checked out. Every request and question I had was warmly answered and everyone was most helpful.
I would highly recommend the Hilton for your next stay in Taupo! Thank you so much for treating us so very well.

Have stayed in a few Hilton hotel and this one is certainly not what I would say to the Hilton standard. Room was comfortable, no mini bar, no lift to room which I found a real problem as I have great difficultly walking same as the car park was some distance from hotel with a real steep walk to hotel, also no velvet parking so again was a big problem for me. Room was so so clean food (crushed biscuit I think on floor by bed which I forgot to take photo of but did take photo of furniture in room and a section of the balcony. Breakfast was included in my roomrate, but no coffee offered, only if you pay an extra $5 and to have fried eggs an extra $10. As I said comfortable room . For $450 a nite which is good for a Hilton but no where near up to Hilton standard

I spent a night at the Hilton and it was nice, the hotel was easy to find, the service was quite good, I just had to wait 10 minutes for my room to get ready. The staff were really friendly at reception. I really enjoyed the rooms, with a view of Taupo. The room was tidy and spacious and the beds were comfy. I would've liked the rooms to have more privacy because the next room next to mine shared the same balcony with me.

The pool was great, right temperature and clean however the spa was extremely warm it was the hottest spa I've ever been to.

The restaurant looked quite elegant and tidy, great variety on the menu, I ordered the fish and chips for dinner and it was tasty but the service wasn't efficient enough, I could see that it was a busy night and it was quite hard to assist all the tables in a quick manner.

I would recommend this hotel, really good to relax.

Last week we stayed with our 3 teenage children In a 3 bedroom apartment.

The hotel is really well designed. We paid $15 per night for a car park in the basement rather than the larger outdoor car park further away (it rained a lot so we were pleased we did). There are multiple lifts positioned every 10 metres along the long basement so there is never a wait for the lifts, really easy.

The apartment itself was fantastic with a balcony at the front and the back. 3 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

If I had to pick holes I’d say the soft furnishings like the sofa cushions etc are starting to look tired and a wee bit dirty but aside from that the room was great.

The dryer didn’t work which was a pain but the staff were very eager to help and took our washing to their commercial dryer and did it for us. Really nice that they ‘owned’ the problem and found a solution.

We had a dinner in the restaurant which was quite nice but nothing special. Definitely nicer restaurants in town, Vine wonderful.

Would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the Hilton Lake Taupo for one night after hiking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing (an hour's drive away). Our room was large and lovely, and included a balcony with a view of Lake Taupo in the distance. The huge tub (and excellent water pressure in the shower) was much appreciated to soak our aching muscles. The staff was among the friendliest and most professional we encountered at any place we stayed in New Zealand. The breakfast area was large and light-drenched, and the staff attentive and efficient. Everything was clean, new, spacious, and light -- would enthusiastically recommend.
