This hostel is clean and near a park with geothermal activity (e.g. boiling mud) that can be viewed for free. The hostel is self-catering (like almost all NZ YHA) and close to the bus station and the downtown shopping area. The dorm rooms are nice and the staff helpful

In a quiet tucked away area of Rotorua this hostel simply shines out. Well run by Hayley and her fellow staff colleagues. Spacious kitchen and dining area..what ALL youth hostels should aspire to. Came here two years ago..it's as good as it was previously. Well done! Go visit the walks and see the sulphur hot steam rising (behind the Moari...

This was so refreshing after staying in the manky base hostel down the road. For about the same price the quality was far more superior. Cleanliness was superb and showers worked well and there seemed to be enough for everyone. Staff were friendly and helpful and the shared facilities were excellent. People generally respect property in hostels if they feel...

I am really like the atmosphere in the YHA Rotoru, the staff was helpful and people stay in are friendly. The first day, while I arrived, I am getting lost but after getting help from front desk staff, I got used to things around, really appreciated. The Maori cultural tour was also recommended by other people stay in together, it...

i have travelled a fair bit in NZ and Abroad. This hostel was fair priced and clean and had great facilities. The activities aroubd were fun and easily accessible. BUT the thing that set it above most other places was the friendly, informative and helpful front desk staff. 5 stars guys! U earnt it.

We stayed for 2 nights in a private room with a bathroom. It’s a hard to write this, as the hostel itself was good value for money - clean, the rooms were a fine size, the noise level in the hostel itself was low and the wifi worked most of the time. It’s also in a great location, 10 minute...

This YHA was absolutely fine, the rooms basic but perfectly ok. Great free wi fi as we came to expect at YHA. Good space in the communal and kitchen areas. Convenient for bus to Hobbition and the cultural evenings. Enjoyed one night as part of Haka Tours trip.

Nice and comfortable, clean and modern. However, the walls are a little thin and you can hear your neighbours at times. But for the price, it is good value and couldn't have been happier. Location is quite convenient.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Took the ensuite room with two single beds. The room size is compact, like Japanese hotel but sufficient for two girls with backpacks. It's clean and minimal. Like the ample roadside parking. Kitchen is well stocked but need to queue during the mealtimes. Does not like the noise that is still going on after 12am...
