Our check-in was efficient and the receptionist polite. No traffic or guest noise could be heard from our 4th floor room which was appreciated. Our room was clean and comfortable with adequate bedding and storage for our suitcase/bags. There is no crockery apart from 2 cups and 2 teaspoons, so if you wish to eat anything which requires a plate, you need to contact the receptionist who will give you some dishes for breakfast cereal etc and some spoons. The fridge was noisy and kept making a burring noise off and on for the duration of our stay causing sleep disturbance. There was no information pack in our room which is most unusual for a hotel.

The bathroom was a problem. Firstly, the exhaust fan is on 24/7 with a constant noise which could be heard, even with the door shut. This was queried with the receptionist who said that its correct for the fan to be on all the time. The light switch to the bathroom is by the front door so it was a bit of a struggle to find the switch in the dark without turning the main light on and disturbing anyone else. There were no hand-towels, just one flannel and two very nice large towels and a bath mat. There was inadequate space to put anything in the bathroom, for example, the towel rail right under the sink was inadequate to put the large bath towels on. It would have been helpful if some hooks could have been placed on the wall to allow for towel hanging etc. There was only one hook in the bathroom on a very tight space next to the shower cubicle. Also, the water pressure for the hand-basin was extremely inadequate and it took an age to fill the basin with water.

On the plus side, Ibis is very near the town which makes a big difference for easy access to shops and restaurants.

The IBIS is next to a Novohotel, and they currently share a breakfast area that is terrific, worth the price. The rooms are typical IBIS design, maybe a bit bigger and with nicer baths. The staff was friendly and helpful, giving us directions into the town. The top quality, beyand depndable clean space, is the location, walking distance to the lake shore (next door) attractions (Maori hangi thing, also next door), restaurants in an two block strip close by.

We stayed during an incredibly busy long weekend. Appreciated an early check-in for no extra charge when off a 15 hour flight from Canada. Hotel is usually quiet at night and rooms well sound proofed. Guest laundry is free to use and includes washing powder automatically dispensed. Free off-street parking for several cars. House maids were hard pressed to service all the rooms - we waited until 5.00pm for ours. Breakfast an additional charge for a full buffet breakfast.

I only leave bad reviews if i an really disappointed and feel people need to know.. our experience: Small rooms, terrible service! Except the young lady at the desk, she was great, but under the pump!!!

Checked in after 4:30, room still wasn't ready! Not acceptable! Although the beds were clean and comfy enough and a nice view of the lake, No real toiletries, just a bottle of hand and body wash combined. Tiny bathroom, felt and looked dirty not worth what I was charged in the end which was about $240 for getting my dates wrong, an extra $104 to change the date, had to ring 3 times to have it changed and then charged that! I have stayed here numerous times pre covid, will not be returning after this visit!
I suggest you hire more staff, have rooms ready at advertised time of pm, add better toiletries. Clean your walls and toilet properly. Have attached photos of dirty walls and toilet wouldn't flush properly.

Average hotel, nothing fancy but good overall. Our room was ready and we arrived at 2 on the dot. Housekeeping was good, breakfast was yum and had a good selection (bread, eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans and then cereal, fruit and yoghurt with a coffee machine). Again, nothing fancy but decent. Wifi was good and location is good as well, about 4 minutes from "eat street" and a minute from the lake. Free parking.

Clean rooms - it’s an Ibis so there’s a standard set up. We were comfortable and had a good night’s sleep.

Lift situation a bit irritating. One not working and the other full of cleaning stuff at 6 at night with frustrated cleaning crew going up and down. Couldn’t get luggage into lift for ages.

Stupidly we had breakfast the next morning. They literally stop serving at 9 a.m. by removing the hot dishes. We found it denuded by coach party ahead of us and hot food was pretty soggy and unappetising- what was left.

The hotel initially makes a modern and well-kept impression in the entrance area. The rooms are small, so is the bathroom. Problematic is the lack of cleanliness: Hair in the bathroom, stains on the towel and a disgusting dining room. Coffee and juice dripped briskly next to it, puddles on the floor, sticky tables. Service personnel who merely stocked up on food and were unwilling to pick up a rag once.

Grab and go menu bland but all that seemed available at the hotel in the evening and lack of flavour, breakfast was lukewarm at best, well below recommended food temperatures, complained to staff they just went and checked the temperature set on the digital heaters, did not check the temperature of the food inside, apologised but did not offer any solution. Come on follow food regs use a food probe to check internal temperature.

On arrival no milk in room had to trudge back to reception to get it.

Expensive for toast

Room adequate but bed moved on its wheels every time you touched it ideal for skateboarding and probably for housekeeping staff but of a pain to have to keep pushing back against the wall.

The room I got had 2 queens which only had 1 foot between them. There was only enough room to fit a chair between the bed and desk. Had to use half the desk for the second suitcase as the table for the first suitcase only had room for one, there isn't enough room between the wall and bed to put in a suitcase table. Their rule is only 1 face cloth and 1 hand cloth even in rooms with 2 people. THERE WAS NO SAFE, not even behind reception. the shower was tiny, no tub. Only one hook in the bathroom. Had to watch tv from the bed as there was only 1 chair and it was in an awkward angle. Beds are on wheels so the beds move while sitting watching tv. Had to refill my own coffee supplies from reception as housekeeping never came for the 2 days we were there. However the place was clean and the staff polite.

Another stay in an accessible room by the Ibis Hotel (3rd one during my NZ trip). This time I was on the ground floor looking toward the parking lot so the curtains were closed most of the time when I was in the room for privately. The room was huge with a fridge, kettle, walled toiletries and a/c (hurray!). The staff was professional & friendly, always willing to give a new bottle of fresh milk (not boxed one in the fridge) for coffee/tea making in the room. Breakfast was the usual fare. There is no lobby to hang out in, just a couple of padded benches by the front door. Housekeeping came around 3:45 to check on the room the 2nd day of my stay.

Location of the hotel is perfect as it is close to everything, especially restaurants.
