Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The backpackers looks like it was refurbished from the historical building. The layout was a bit all over the place but it did add to its uniqueness. There are a few parking spaces down the driveway but there is a parking lot right outside the building. Just check the meter since it is a paid parking area.
We grabbed most of the beds in a 6 person room so it was private for us. I liked how each bed had a different sheet covering so it was easy to pick a bed based on design. I also liked how each bed had a wall socket and a small bedside cabinet to put stuff on. There was a cupboard in our room which got quite hot.
We were on the top floor and there were a few bathrooms scattered around. The one closest to us was quite small but did the job, particularly the amazing water pressure in the shower.
I wasn't there for check-in but you did have to give a deposit for keys. Check out was fairly easy. Make sure you strip the bed and bring the sheets down to the basket in reception. It was quite a cheap and nice place for a cheeky weekend away.

I stayed here for 2 nights in a 6 bed dorm. The beds were all separate singles (no bunks) and comfy. The hostel was clean and plenty of space in common areas (kitchen, tv room, lounge, garden with laundry area and picnic benches). Showers were decent and there was a hairdryer. The hostel didn’t have any lockers but everyone in my room was really friendly so it didn’t feel unsafe. It’s only a 5 min walk to the i-site and central bus stops. All in all very good for the price.

A very cosmopolitan crowd with guests from allover. A spa pool out back and good clean kitchen and fridges. Older style comfortable building with good carparking and Wifi. The hosts were very friendly

Reception friendly, sheets clean, beds comfy, showers spotless. Centrally located, parking right out front (free/paid depending on time of day). Carpets dirty, walls thin, kitchen not super clean or organized. The place overall feels run-down and not terribly well cared for. Locals watching TV in the common room (which is fine! Just heads-up depending what vibe you're looking for). I might be getting too old for backpacking hostels.

They did a late checkin for us when we arrived late at 9pm which was kind. Very polite and nice manager and night person. Clean kitchen. Very clean toilets and showers. Everything is old, but serviceable. Lovely and warm with lots of heating. Comfortable bed (we had a king). Not a lot of parking, but we found a space. Lots of on street parking too. Convinient to central shops. Good value. We'll be back. Thanks for a nice stay.

Stayed here 3 nights. It reminds me of an old house in England. Beds were comfy. There was unlimited Wi-Fi. Kitchen was perfect. The lounge was cosy with a tv. Atmosphere was great. Very happy. Close to everything. Supermarket is just down the road.

This place is in need of some renovation. The walls look freshly painted, but everything else is too old. Paper-thin walls, so bring your earplugs. The upstairs bathrooms have bath tubs, not showers, and this is not convenient considering the amount of people using them. Would not stay here again, and would not recommend to others.

The beds are comfortable and the dorms are well set up. There is lots of space in the rooms, big windows and heaters. Convenient location. A little bit dated but everything is clean. Fairly quiet, doesn't have too much of an atmosphere. I would stay again.

Smart 1930's building with many original features. Clean and well run, Neil is your host. Great location too, just off the main drag and a 10 minute walk to local eateries. Big sunny room, only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was no towel provided.

Our stay at this hostel was lovely. We had a double private room, which was so nice, spacious and the bed was very comfy! Shared bathrooms were fine, a bit run down but always clean. The kitchen has plenty of hobs and an oven. It's very well equipped. The Wi-Fi here was very good! There a a small hot tub which was nice. A few different areas to sit and hang out also. It's in a very good location. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. It felt very homely and safe at this hostel. I would definitely stay again and totally recommend it to others!
