My girlfriend and I were completely enamored by this B&B. As soon as we arrived, we were treated to wine, great hors d'oeuvres and even better company on the patio overlooking Phillip's and Rayma's impressive garden. Over the next 2 days, we explored the surrounding wine country, armed with the local knowledge supplied by our hosts. We had many questions...

Phillip and Rayma, who will be your hosts, at the Cobden Garden Homestay are amazing people. I was traveling alone and they made me feel like a good friend or member of the family. I was in Napier to search for information about my Grandfather, who was born there about 143 years ago. Phillip and Rayma were so supportive and...

We did so enjoy your visit Tana and thank you for taking the time to write the review. It was exciting that you did find the mention of your Grandfather in the official files held at the library. It was also great that I was able to share some of the highlights of Hawke's Bay, like Te Mata Peak with you....

Treated as good friends rather than just guests. Stayed in Napier to have a relaxed few days holiday and were not disappointed. Our upstairs room was very spacious and the king size bed was large and comfortable. Almost needed a GPS to find my wife. Stairs were steep probably in keeping with the colonial era of the house. Not a...

It has been a challenge for us this week, fitting into our normal routine, after such a luxurious weekend at the fantastic Cobden Garden Homestay. We have been discussing our stay and we both agree that we were mostly impressed with the many extra special touches provided. Being welcomed with delicious home baking and the offer of a cuppa; the...

We were made so welcome by the hosts, invited to wine tasting and nibbles each evening. Breakfast was very filling and the room was very spacious and well equipped. The garden was beautiful and sitting on the verandah in the evening was a highlight of our visit to Napier. We only stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed...

It is so gratifying when guests mention that they wished they could have stayed longer. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the verandah. Presently, even though it is winter, we are enjoying sitting there at lunch time as fortunately it has been bathed in sunshine. Long may it last. Thank you for your review.

This was simply one the best B&Bs we stayed in during our 6 week trip around NZ. The accommodation is a superbly comfortable colonial style grand house, but the best assets are Phillip and Rayma who offer every possible assistance from doing the laundry, making tea on arrival, to cleaning my windscreen on departure and every thing in between! The...

We arrived early (11 am instead of late afternoon, senior moment on my part), Rayma was upto her eyes with work having had friends to stay as well as guests. Not to be phased, and in spite of protestations from me, she down-tooled and set about making a welcome pot of tea, offered with a chat. That was the beginning...
