5* McHardy Lodge is a beautifully restored 1896 residence situated in a quiet cul de sac on exclusive Napier Hill, close to all the attractions of Art Deco Napier and the wineries, golf and gannet colony of Cape Kidnappers and the award winning dining experiences of Hawkes Bay. The Lodge has a wealth of rich native Kauri timber and antique furnishings. The suites are dressed with fine furnishings and linens, with luxurious beds to sink into and relax. Spacious bathrooms feature claw foot or deep tub baths and large showers, making them the ideal place to relax and unwind. Relaxation is not confined to your suite. After a gourmet breakfast overlooking the Ocean you can lounge around the pool or on one of the extensive verandahs - the views of the blue Pacific Ocean and mountain ranges in the distance will beguile you. Enjoy a game on our full size billiards table in the billiard room, or snuggle up in the library in front of the fire. Whether it is merely a break from life’s pressures, a special holiday, a celebration you want to make so much more special, or you are planning the ideal start to married life together – we will ensure you have an experience you will treasure.

While out of town and a long walk into either side for food, the place is spectacular and Yvonne runs a very efficient and wonderful lodge. While our room was a bit on the small side, the furnishings were unique and the breakfast could not have been more enjoyable. A true

Thank you for your positive review. We are close to Napier town and Ahuriri but up on Napier Hill which does make for more than a casual stroll to the town centre or quayside but we are happy to book taxis or offer guidance on the more scenic walks into town through the Botanical Gardens. We do mainly cater for international visitors to New Zealand from thoughout the world which can make for interesting conversations between guests over welcoming refreshments on the deck or our complimentary pre dinner drinks. Guests often comment that they feel part of a 'house party" experience rather than a hotel and we do everything within our power to ensure guests enjoy their stay with us. We hope that next time you visit we can offer you one of our much larger super king deluxe suites to enhance your stay with us.

Thank you for posting such a glowing review. We do try to assist guests who book with us to make the most of their time in Napier and we try our best to find out exactly what guests want before their arrival - we know how disappointing it is to arrive and find that the best restaurant is fully booked. We know the area and what it has to offer well and can usually find exactly the best activity, event or restaurant to make our guests' stay extra special. We believe the personal touch we offer is what makes McHardy Lodge extra special.

Stayed for just one night and wished we had time to stay longer. The place is absolutely stunning and immaculately clean. The location was perfect as we could walk to Ahuriri port as well as the Art Deco district (mind there are hills). Yvonne was very knowledgeable about the

We had a wonderful 2 nights at the lodge in late winter. True to its historic roots our room was sumptuous in furnishings and size. The stay was memorable, learning about the place, its history, and enjoying the classic decor cleverly updated to accommodate contemporary needs.

Thank you for your glowing review - it is high praise indeed that you viewed McHardy Lodge as top in location and hospitality of all the places you stayed in North and South Island during your tour of New Zealand as I know you stayed in some wonderful locations and accommodation. McHardy Lodge has a fantastic place in Napier history and has beautiful features which we love to share with our guests - it is unique in so many ways and we hope you can return to enjoy our hospitality again some time in the future.
