Our stay in the Gertrude Room was amazing. We were met by a wonderful gentleman who showed us to our room and helped us with our suitcases. We had a wrap around balcony with a great view of the gardens. The turn of the century decor was beautiful! The meals were elegant and expertly served, though somewhat limited in choice. A breakfast...

Ormlie Lodge has a classic "Home" feeling about it. Good rooms, Great Food wonderful staff. This is a quiet peaceful place with beautiful gardens and summer outdoor dining. We were there for five days and wished we could stay longer. Book early as they only have six rooms and they are heavily booked during the busy season.

Our stay at Ormlie Lodge (Gertrude Mary Nelson room) was one of my favourite parts of our visit to New Zealand. The lodge is stunning, both outside and in, and whilst it is a grand place, it also felt very comfortable and homely. The rooms are beautifully done, the bathroom was very modern and it was lovely to sit on...

We spent two nights at Ormlie Lodge in February. Arriving slightly early, we had a nice welcome from the manager. We were served drinks on the terrace overlooking the very pretty garden while waiting for our room. The Ormlie Suite was a lovely bedroom with antique furniture, a modern shower room with underfloor heating, and a balcony with seating. There...

I took a couple of people from Art Deco celebration out and about the Hawke's Bay, we stopped for afternoon tea at Mangapapa Lodge they had coach in and were told you must book it 24hours before hand, they had free tables but the girl says no. So we went to ORMLIE Lodge book 24hours etc, but the man said...

Our daughter had arranged a surprise weekend in Napier for my wife and I for our 36th wedding anniversary. One of the surprises that she had organised was a high tea at the Ormlie Lodge. Jill and I have had high teas at other venues throughout the country and daughter was well aware of this hence she knew we would...

We unfortunately had a very tiny room ( the old nursery) which lacked a number of amenities, e.g. A fridge, a bedside lamp to read by on only one side of the bed, very limited space to move around. The noise of the plumbing from the neighbouring room was extremely loud, enough to wake me from sleep at 6 a.m...

This estate lodge provides an outstanding experience in all respects. The rooms are spacious and most comfortable and the staff was very friendly, helpful and flexible to accommodate our needs. The master chef, Andy, prepared an unbelievable dinner for us with the trout we had caught in Taupo lake that day. This was clearly one of the best accommodations we...

Thank you very much for your review. One of the benefits of Andy being focused on true farm to table or lake to table in your case. Ormlie, being a former home is there to be enjoyed and so much better when it feels like a "home".

The food we ordered was excellent. The French Maître was very knowledgeable about wine and wine regions. The service was excellent and the setting very elegant. The only negative was the menu, which I did not find very interesting and there wasn't a large selection. Unfortunately the dessert menu wasn't much better, none were to our liking - one particularly...

Dear Rob, Appreciate your balanced review. Our menu is designed in such a way we can balance offering a selection of dishes to ensure the very best and freshest ingredients can be used. Too often we prep and food may not be used based on smaller numbers of guests in our restaurant, given our focus is on quality not quantity....
