We spent two nights here with another couple to celebrate a special birthday. The service with a smile from the time we arrived until we left could not be faulted. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate dinner on both nights in the restaurant and food was superb , as was the breakfast each morning. We would recommend this lovely...

Our stay in the Gertrude Room was amazing. We were met by a wonderful gentleman who showed us to our room and helped us with our suitcases. We had a wrap around balcony with a great view of the gardens. The turn of the century decor was beautiful! The meals were elegant and expertly served, though somewhat limited in choice. A breakfast...

Hello Terry, Gertrude is my favourite room due to the double aspect looking out to the garden. Norbert is the perfect host. Our restaurant is a new addition and we do try to balance the number of dishes available with ensuring fresh, local and seasonal ingredients are used. We will certainly look to expand a little once we are consistently...

Ormlie Lodge has a classic "Home" feeling about it. Good rooms, Great Food wonderful staff. This is a quiet peaceful place with beautiful gardens and summer outdoor dining. We were there for five days and wished we could stay longer. Book early as they only have six rooms and they are heavily booked during the busy season.

Our stay at Ormlie Lodge (Gertrude Mary Nelson room) was one of my favourite parts of our visit to New Zealand. The lodge is stunning, both outside and in, and whilst it is a grand place, it also felt very comfortable and homely. The rooms are beautifully done, the bathroom was very modern and it was lovely to sit on...

We spent two nights at Ormlie Lodge in February. Arriving slightly early, we had a nice welcome from the manager. We were served drinks on the terrace overlooking the very pretty garden while waiting for our room. The Ormlie Suite was a lovely bedroom with antique furniture, a modern shower room with underfloor heating, and a balcony with seating. There...

We had breakfast there and it was delicious sat in the sun admiring the beautiful garden The food was well presented and very tasty with a good variety of choices The service was fantastic friendly and efficient This place has had a bad reputation in the past and I wish these enthusiastic people all the best in restoring our faith...

Jenny, Your review means the world to us. We debated quite strongly, whether or not to keep the existing name. Ormlie is so well known in HB as an iconic property and despite the not so good reputation, we decided to take a leap of faith and keep the name. It is challenging shaking that old reputation but reviews like...

I took a couple of people from Art Deco celebration out and about the Hawke's Bay, we stopped for afternoon tea at Mangapapa Lodge they had coach in and were told you must book it 24hours before hand, they had free tables but the girl says no. So we went to ORMLIE Lodge book 24hours etc, but the man said...

Our daughter had arranged a surprise weekend in Napier for my wife and I for our 36th wedding anniversary. One of the surprises that she had organised was a high tea at the Ormlie Lodge. We unfortunately had a very tiny room ( the old nursery) which lacked a number of amenities, e.g. A fridge, a bedside lamp to read by on only one side of the bed, very limited space to move around. The noise of the plumbing from the neighbouring room was extremely loud, enough to wake me from sleep at 6 a.m...

Hello Jan, We are disappointed with your experience and it's certainly new feedback. As Ormlie was built as a private home in 1899, we have made a conscious decision not to add fridges to rooms as we feel this would detract from the original feel of the rooms. We are more than happy for food/drink items to be stored in...

This estate lodge provides an outstanding experience in all respects. The rooms are spacious and most comfortable and the staff was very friendly, helpful and flexible to accommodate our needs. Thank you very much for your review. One of the benefits of Andy being focused on true farm to table or lake to table in your case. Ormlie, being a former home is there to be enjoyed and so much better when it feels like a "home".
