We stayed in many and varied places during our 3 weeks in New Zealand, but none surpassed Breckenridge Lodge. Malcolm and Ellie were wonderfully welcoming, the location is peaceful with a beautiful garden and Malcolm's cooking was absolutely outstanding. I particularly enjoyed my demonstration in the kitchen! Thank you both

We had a fantastic experience at Breckenridge Lodge, and Ellie and Malcolm were wonderful hosts. The setting is beautiful and very unique. We were greeted warmly by Malcolm, who brought us glasses of wine to enjoy on our private terrace. Our room was comfortable and nicely furnished, with a stunning vineyard view out large windows. We took a walk around...

I notice that one reviewer here feels that Breckenridge Lodge is over priced. Well, yes, it is expensive, but in my opinion, worth every penny, (or cent!) From the time we arrived, both Ellie and Malcolm made us very welcome. Our room looked out over the vineyards and as soon as we were settled in our room, Malcolm appeared with...

Lovely accommodation made special by Ellie who has added those extra touches in the rooms. Nothing is too much trouble and both Ellie and Malcolm are very helpful with directions, arranging tours and suggestions. Malcolm is an acclaimed chef. Dinner is a gourmet delight of flavours matched by excellent wine and the company of other guests. A relaxing idyll after...

Lodges in New Zealand are VERY expensive but most give some reasonable value for money. This one at nearly $1000 per night fell VERY short. No TV in room, no full length mirror, no shower cap. VERY dreary decor and only mediocre food. The owners try to make up for its shortcomings by being very welcoming but they should instead...

We stayed in the lodge as part of a bicycle tour of Hawkes Bay. The room has an expansive view of vineyards and the surrounding hills and was very comfortable. Ellie and Malcolm are gracious hosts and Malcolm is a talented chef. The surrounding gardens are a credit to Ellie and Malcolm. The plastic bags placed over our bicycle seats...

We spent two great nights with Malcolm and Ellie. Quite apart from the great food, the warmth and genuineness of their welcome was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were always trying to ensure we were taken care of. This is the way it should be done!

If you are doing a tour of New Zealand's North Island you must put Breckenridge Lodge on your list of places to stay. We only had time to spend 1 night here but it will remain in our memory as the highlight of our 3 week trip. The place is truly very special. Ellie and Malcolm are wonderful hosts and...

If you are the area you must stay at the Breckenridge Lodge and join them for dinner with full wine pairing. We have travelled the world and we haven't found a better meal thus far. Malcom and Ellie are amazing hosts, the super clean accommodations and the ambience of the lodge and grounds truly make this special place. Dinners are...
