Had an en-suite room. Stayed for one night in room two and the music was so loud we couldn't sleep. Bathroom window didn't shut so was also freezing! On the plus it was cheap, but now we know why!!! Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere!

Was a really good backpack! everybody was welcoming! Rooms correct! Staff was very helping! Easy to get on with people! Bathroom and toilets were really clean! The room was tidy and clean! a bit noisy because of the pub next to the backpack from thursday to saturday but only until 11 so that was ok

We usually stay in hotels however our trip was a spur of the moment decision, to get a piece of summer that was on offer in the HB, we then found not too much selection within our budget however Toad Hall was on offer and we decided to go for it. Best decision ever! Great place, being an older building...

The best part is the cool deck on the 3rd floor with good views overlooking the city. This is a fairly cheap hostel with options for other room types. Not as good a bargain as others in town, and the beds are mostly broken down. Peeling paint in many areas indicates that the place is past her time. Cool club...

Greeted by a lovely guy at reception who we had a good joke around with, made us feel very welcome. Only stayed one night, the beds were comfy but didn't look the prettiest (but it is a hostel after all!) there are cute little hammocks outside and a table tennis table downstairs which we had good fun on with an...

I have mixed feelings about this place. We had a good night sleep and a nice breakfast, facilities were fine. Good waterpressure in the showers. But the whole place feels a bit worn down and could use some TLC, I was afraid to sleep in the top bunk because the whole bed was shaking and squeeking so fiercely when climbing...

Stayed as part of a group, second time there, handy location next door to the Cabana where we were going to a gig. Standard backpacker setup but clean, no issues, just an easy stay in a good atmosphere. Parking would have been nice, but hey, its central.

This was my first time to visit Napier and my stay in the hostel was fantastic!! The service was great Ruthy really made us all feel at home! It has a great space on the roof top for BBQ and Beers, and is also really handy to nearby bars and shops! Thanks Toad hall :)

I was staying there for a couple of months. The owners are amazing and the location is really good. Nice place especially when youre working cause most of the dorms have only 2 beds - so you can rest properly! :-) shower pressure is really good as well! Ill definitely come back!

I stayed here two nights in a private room and was pleasantly impressed with everything compared with the past few hostels I'd stayed in. The room was big, clean, and had nice bed linen. There was nothing in it except a bed and sink, but that was all I needed. The shower room/toilets were clean and well maintained, with freshly...

“There's a pub with live music next to Toad Hall on Shakespeare road. They stop playing at about midnight, but if you really want to sleep early you might want to make sure you get a room on the east side of the building.”
