Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Nestled in a former bank building, the Ramada by Wyndham Hamilton City Center captivates many guests with its distinctive ambiance and notably large, tranquil rooms. Despite some criticism of dated decor, the hotel's cleanliness and attentive staff earn praise.
Its prime location is a hit for being close to local eateries and attractions, although the trade-off can be noise and parking challenges. While the amenities, including secure parking, are generally appreciated, opinions on the value proposition vary, with some guests finding parking fees perplexing and room quality inconsistent.

Detailed Reviews
I'm so glad we're only here for one night. Lift is broken, room is horrible, ugly decor, bathroom is a broom closet it's so small with a big step into the shower but no railing. The bathroom door needs to go back to the 1960's (see photo).Non existent security, doors don't have locks and you can hear other doors slamming all down the prison-like hallways. Rowdy guests started yelling and bumping into the doors and walls for the last hour, called reception and initally told there's nothing they can do about the disruptive guests despite it being part of their code of conduct but they offered to move US at 10pm after we unpacked hours before these drunk idiots arrived? Second time we called someone was apparently sorting them out but nothing much has changed. The reception area is minimal, bit of a maze to get from the carpark. First in first served for parking aswell but its free and secure which along with location of the hotel are really the only positives. Oh and the receptionist was lovely too (Maori male?) and the room is clean (if you can ignore the stained toilet and stray hairs around the bathroom). But I wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Maybe only as a last resort.

Was here on business, paid for by work so am unsure of the cost (value for money). Good central location with easy check in and out. I recommend taking advantage of the $15 a night bookable parking as there is none in town. No kitchen facilities except tea/instant coffee/cups/glasses/teaspoons. Fridge was somehow set to 'freezer' which I didn't realise until the following morning. The heat pump works though which was good for my winter stay. I guess there wasn't much the hotel could do about the partygoers outside my bedroom door in the wee hours of both nights of my stay (perhaps that is the central location for you??)...

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
The reception area was all shiny and well presented, we then moved on to our booked rooms (paid for by our employer), and it was shocking to say the least. The rooms had a distinctive mouldy/sewage smell, the bedding did not fit properly on the beds. The heatpump worked but was noisy.
The supposed bathroom is a death trap... You have to climb a step to get into the 1m wide cubicle, with a toilet against the outside wall. The shower is yet another step to get into, with slippery tiles and a shower door that cant open properly all the way, cause it is bumping against the wash basin....
No soundproofing as I could hear the person next door snoring 😂. I understand that some rooms are better, but this wing really sucks.
Positives was the onsite parking, and the location.

For $160.00 a night I wasn't expecting a 5 star treatment- just somewhere clean and quiet to lay my head for the evening. Boy was I wrong. Cleanliness and quiet were no where to be seen for our nights stay.
Our first room stunk of cigarette smoke, so asked to change rooms (which wasn't a problem with staff). Second room there were stray hairs everywhere, mould in the shower, dirty handprints on the doors. Toilet button was broken/missing broken and shower head was also broken and spay everywhere but down. Was not clean in the slightest. People in the room next door were very noisy and kept us awake half of the night.
I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for accomodation.

Excellent hotel with excellent location located at the city center, extremely clean & comfortable . Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly reception staff Jayden who explained everything very clearly about the hotel facilities, Restaurant and the car park.
Room amenities were great and room lighting looked very welcoming.
Housekeeping team rested us when we were on the floor and the girls guided us to the car park with a smile.
Sisterfields Restaurant dinner prepared by the chef in the shift was very delicious. Service team were very attentive during dinner service.
Would highly recommend to try the amazing food.
Would definetely recommend this hotel and the restaurant to everybody! It's a true sample of excellent hospitality. Thank you again every team member for going just that little step extra for the guests.

Really a terrible hotel. Being run-down and tired is one thing, but the whole place gives a very distinct impression that management just really doesn't care. Everything is furnished as cheaply as humanly possible and seemingly without care for the comfort of their guests. I've not slept on a less comfortable bed in my life. The street noise is horrific, not helped by the fact the curtains aren't attached properly so impossible to close completely, as well as there being gaps in the windows. There are a variety of unpleasant smells around the hotel.
I'm generally fairly easily pleased, especially when someone else is paying for the accommodation, but in this case j feel compelled to let others know about the experience.
Would not recommend.

Late check out was approved however the cleaners were not informed so they barged in at 10.10am asking us when we would leave. They barged in twice, did not knock or apologise. Very unprofessional.
A note that the walls are thin and can hear the noise in the hallway.
The light switch on the window side did not work and the step to the shower is not a standard step and can be high risk for health and safety.
The pros are that it's in the city and close walk to all restaurants and activities. The bed was great to sleep in and they had free parking in their designated fenced area.

I've just stayed 2 nights at Ramada Hotel in Hamilton whilst celebrating a birthday, with 2 friends.
I stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with 2 Queen beds, and requested a rollaway as well, so everyone had their own beds.
The apartment was perfect for 3 of us girls, with plenty of space to relax in, 2 balconies, and perfect location to restaurants and shops.
They had the most comfortable beds and loved that both rooms had a TV in each room.
The staff were very kind and friendly and liked that there were a team of 3 cleaning the apartment, seemed to be most efficient and effective.
Sisterfields is next to the hotel, I had a delicious big breakfast and there is a wonderful selection of cabinet food as well.

We recently stayed at the Ramada by Wyndham and felt really let down by the whole experience.
The photos on the website are very misleading. The rooms have had a feature wallpaper wall done as a part of their recent renovation which is what the website photos show, but the rest of the room and the entire hotel is in terrible condition. Doors and windows that don’t close properly (including the main entrance door to the room that we stayed in), mould on the walls and roof, a terribly unsafe bathroom with a high step into the shower and so small that the shower door hits the vanity when you open it, what looks like the original (filthy) carpet and the hallways smelt like urine. Hard beds, not even remotely soundproof walls and it felt like we were staying in a concrete bunker.
If I could describe the staff in one word, it would be ‘bored’. From our first interaction with the front desk staff when we arrived, it felt like everything was an effort and that we were such an inconvenience. No welcoming smiles, not even instructions on how to get from the car park to our room.
Free car parking on site which is great, but it is minimal, tight and also used by the staff so definitely don’t count on it being available.
Good location right in the city centre, but that’s about all it had going for it.
My advice would be to give it a miss. There are far better options available.

My room had two double beds, but the bathroom was badly designed with a large step up into it and another into the shower. Those doors intruded into standing space, making entry to the bathroom and the shower difficult. the cafe downstairs looked handy, but I did not use it. I looked for the guests laundry and eventually found it. Just use coins for washing and drying. The room offered a local guide, not often seen these days, but very handy.
