Lovely spot right on the beach. Had room 14, 2 bedrooms upstairs. Great views not only from the balcony, but also the bedrooms. Had private staircase to the beach. Nice kitchen facility as well. Our top spot we stayed on our New Zealand trip.

we needed to stay an extra night in Gisborne due to the storm and couldn't have had to stay in a better spot. The owners are very welcoming and allowed us to check in early. the room was No.8, upstairs with a fantastic view of the beach. The room was really well equipped, good quality well stocked kitchen ware in...

Comfortable night in a roomy motel. Unlike some other noisy Gisborne motels this motel is quite. The only noise was the surf. Motel breakfast was also very good value. Look forward to my next stay at Whispering Sands.

Very easy to find and a very friendly greeting. The motel is as near to the beach as you can get. Lovely to lie in bed and hear the sound of the ocean. Very clean, two large bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, toilet and separate shower with lashings of hot water. Room cleaned impeccably every day with all towels etc changed...

We have just returned from 5 wonderful days at Whispering Sands where we had a great time. Very comfortable bed from which we could see and hear the sea. Well equipped with everything you could need, well serviced, and Judith & Peter were great hosts and so obliging with help and advice. We are sad to be back home and...

A very clean, comfortable and spacious motel, situated next to the beach. Lovely views for sunset photos. Well equipped for self catering if you don't want to eat out. Close to the town centre, only a short walk to some good restaurants and bars near the harbour.

We booked this not quite sure what type of room we were getting? Don't worry, the design of this motel, is excellent. All rooms have beach and sea views. First floor have balcony and better view. Layout of rooms is very clever, with walk through kitchen and bathroom, making the most of the space. Recommended

We stayed in Unit 8, upstairs, with a balcony overlooking Poverty Bay and the boardwalk. Considering that this town is where New Zealand's history began (at least to some), the town is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed walking the boardwalk and relaxing after the hairpin turns of Hy. 2 (from Okotiki to Gisborne). The unit had everything we could...

We were not sure about the motel's location-proximity to the beach. The location could not have been much better - less than 30 seconds from the sandy beach. The boardwalk is right there too if you want to go for a stroll or jog. Lots of choices for food also within walking distance. Would stay here again and for longer.

The Whispering Sands Beachfront Motel provides the very best location to enjoy easy access to the beach and close access to Gisborne shopping. The annual cricket match is a unique feature of the motel, and an example of the rare generosity provided by Judith and Peter in their hosting of the post game BBQ as well as game refreshments. The...
