Very high standard of accommodation - as detailed by other contributors. We particularly enjoyed the port/chocolates provided each evening. The breakfasts - fresh fruit salad, cereals, toast, muffins and juice/tea/coffee - were very good. We particularly recommend Donald's homemade bread and muffins. If he offers you some muffins to take with you when you leave, accept with alacrity - they...

We stayed at Sunderland House for four nights while we eloped from Australia to get married in Auckland and we could not have wished for a more perfect stay. Everything about the accommodation was beautiful. The house is in a gorgeous street filled with cute cottages, minutes away from funky cafes and boutiques. Our top-level room had an amazing view...

It is not everyday we have a couple who have eloped so you were special to us as well. We were privileged to be part of making your day. As it was a secret between you, little did we know until the last moment that it was your day so it is great that the Sunderland House decor and home...

I recently stayed for five nights in Sunderland House and I never regretted the decision even for a moment. I initially reserved the Red room but was told by its affable owner, Donald, that I have been upgraded to the Green room. This was of course a welcomed treat which apparently set the tone for the rest of my stay....

My husband and I were delighted to start our month-long NZ holiday at Sunderland House. This B&B deserves to be number 1 for so many reasons. We were made to feel very welcome and at home from the moment we entered, something you won't get in the big hotels. We stayed in the Premier suite and didn't want to leave....

We were so lucky to be able to stay at Sunderland House as our first stop on our journey Down Under! Arriving on a very early flight and with the advice from Donald on getting a shuttle, we arrived to a very warm welcome and fresh muffins and orange juice (we don't drink coffee but it was available). He had...

In a big city like Auckland, I never expected we would find such a quiet, cosy and beautiful place to stay, but Sunderland made it. When we made the booking, they only had the red room available, which was the smallest among the three. However it did not disappoint us. It was so well designed, from the colors, the furnitures,...

I'm not quite sure what to say. Donald and Kathy do a great job, and the results reflect this. It really did feel very comfortable staying with them, especially sitting around the fireplace talking late in the evening. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast very nice, and included home-made muesli, home-made muffins fresh every day, exotic fruits (at...
