Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Abaco is at reasonable distance from Auckland downtown, restaurants and supermarket. There was a problem with the wifi, but the manager fixed it promptly. We had a unit at the groundfloor and it was not so sunny: the two bedrooms (but we used only one) receive light only indirectly.Probably the unit at middle and uppere levels dont have this problem, but this is our experience. All in all I think that is not completely worthwhile and that it is a little bit too expensive for what offers.

This place is well located in an inner suburb of Auckland. Good restaurants and stores are within walking distance. We had to change our reservation at the last minute due to flight disruptions and the hotel was very accommodating. The room was quiet , clean and comfortable with good beds , shower and air conditioning. The hosts were very pleasant . I would stay again...

We would never stay there again. The place was dirty, no one in the office most of the time, rooms not serviced even though we were there for 3 nights, we had to ask for fresh towels. lighting terrible hard to see in the kitchenette. the bed was average. Car parking was terrible and very confusing with how you get in and out of the place by car. Arrows showing way out, but you couldn't get out that way, had to go out the way you came in.

Stayed here about 8 years ago on a trip to Auckland so thought we’d try again as it was a nice stay. This time we stayed in a 2 bedroom unit which had a small lounge area, table and chairs and a kitchenette. Once again a pleasant enough stay but there have been little improvements so it is getting a little aged. The beds especially were too soft and definitely need replacing. It was however a nice enough stay. Quiet room and a very friendly and helpful gentleman who was at front desk. He was even kind enough to try to find us a nice recommendation for dinner and allowed us to use his computer and printer to do our online check in for the airport.

This is very comfortable, clean, and modern accommodation for such a great price. It is very central and handy to restaurants, supermarket and, Ponsonby shops. Our family enjoyed staying in such a quiet location but very convenient. It's very hard to find a motel so close to the city centre especially for the price. We strongly recommend Abaco and our family intend on returning fir another visit.

Centrally located apartment with all basic amenities like burner, appliances and cutlery. At a walking distance from major attractions nearby and from quick bites. The lady at the reception is very helpful and courteous.

We arrived in the early hours and already had advice on how to get into our room. We were given an upstairs room which we had requested. It was a good size with a small table and 2 chairs as well as the bed and large TV with sky box. There was no air movement through the room so we needed the ac. The bathroom was large with a jet tub and shower over it, plenty of towels and manuka honey toiletries. The kitchen area had a box with a selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolate, there was an oven, microwave, kettle etc, plenty of options for catering in if necessary. The staff was friendly and helpful, they even let us stay an extra hour when our motor home was not going to be ready as early as we wanted. It is in a good location for eateries in the Ponsonby area and took us about 40 mins to walk into the city centre along a very interesting route, mostly downhill. As this was our first accommodation at the start of our one month trip to New Zealand it was a reassuring start.

Stayed before boarding cruise ship. Was convenient to get to port as well as close to restaurants and some shopping if you wanted. Places of interest within walking distance as well. Rooms fairly good size. Beds were fairly comfy. Staff very helpful. All you need for a comfy stay. Would stay again.

We stayed at the Abaco on Jervois on the last night of our short holiday on the North Island. The room was clean and spacious with ample facilities for cooking. Okay it was a suite but we have stayed in suites where you would have given a cat brain damage if you had swung it. This room would be ideal for someone staying for an extended period. There was plenty of free parking which is a bonus in Auckland. The Abaco is ideally located close to restaurants and bars so getting a meal was not an issue. It is an expensive area though so some online research is in order if you are counting the pennies. The room was also quiet which was a surprise given that it is on a major road. There room needs a little TLC as there were a couple of minor cosmetic issues that need attention. I really am at a loss as to the lack of respect people show for hotel rooms. You are renting the room, not buying it. Still, the room was super comfortable and we would stay at Abaco again if we return to Auckland.
