John is a genuine guy who clearly cares about his guest and their experiences. I would highly recommend a stay at his wonderful home! He helped us organize our week and his insightful knowledge really informed how we spent our one week in NZ. I'd give him 6 stars if I could!

Everything that was written about this Bed and Breakfast on TA is absolutely the truth. The hosts are extremely friendly and you feel like at home in your family. After a hard day of visiting the city we were met by the hosts with vine and beer and had interesting discussions about life in New Zealand and Tonga. The place...

You are right, there is nothing else quite like Braemar, right in the centre of New Zealand's biggest city. Old fashioned hospitality might not be to everyone's liking but we are glad you enjoyed your time with us. All you can eat breakfast and unlimited high speed wifi, parking included and our warm welcome are what makes Braemar special. Thank...

Lovingly restored Edwardian B and B in quiet neighborhood near University but quick walk to downtown and harbor. The hosts could not be nicer and more accommodating from advice on sightseeing, calling cheap cabs, providing a lovely breakfast and even driving my husband out in the rain last night to pick up some ramen soup since I was feeling unwell.

I had a great 2 nights' stay here. Mel & John are two fantastic hosts that would go way beyond the extra mile to make you feel at home and provide you with as much care, love and good and helpful instructions as they can to make your stay in Auckland a lovely one! The charming house is located at...

Excellent location on edge of downtown Auckland. 10 min walk to Quay, Sky tower, Museum & Business sector. Quaint B&B in 1901 home with old fashioned charm run by Mel & John, delightful people. Helpful orientation to Auckland highlights. Home is furnished in early 20th century motif, large living room with small kitchen for guests. Breakfast to order served in...

The owners/hosts are gracious and welcoming. Their little toy poodle Tina was icing on the cake. While there is no elevator, the hosts whisked our luggage up and down the stairs. The location is in a beautiful area with lots of trees. It's perhaps a 15-minute amble to downtown. Breakfast was ample and delicious. We highly recommend a stay in...

We recently spent 2 nights here at the end of a month-long trip. We found the location very convenient to the waterfront and downtown. Many good restaurants are in easy walking distance. The house was built around 1902 and is beautiful without being fussy and overdone. The owners could not have been nicer, providing beer and wine and a nice...

A beautiful old house, lovingly renovated and furnished, just a few minutes from the waterfront in one direction and Albert Park in the other. A warm welcome from John and Mel and some useful tips about what to do made our short stopover in Auckland a good one.

Great location across the street from the high court and walking distance to downtown, university and the Sydney tower. The owners are extremely helpful and provide an authentic feel of earlier times in Sydney. Breakfasts are specially made for each guest and you are entertained with history of the mansion and New Zealand. I would stay there again.

Quite right! It's the Auckland Central Business District's only listed heritage home you can sleep in. "There's nothing else like it" Since I've been here, four similar old houses, just in this block, have been demolished and apartment buildings plonked on their sites. "We can't control the world, just our little corner of it" Saving this house has been my...

My friend and I only had a couple of days in Auckland before heading the South Island. We arrived to a fantastic reception and welcome from John and Mel. It felt like we had arrived home!
