John is a great host and has restored this home to its former glory and I commend him for saving it from being knocked down for a multi storey modern replacement. In the city's old quarter, it is five mins walk to Queen St and the University. A fantatsic place to stay for those that want genuine heritage.

My daughter & I always try to stay at the Braemar when we are in Auckland. NZ needs to know about this Hotel & the Hosts John & Mel. To begin with, they are the most wonderful hosts. The rooms beautiful & comfortable, my only problem, is the beds are so comfortable, I fall asleep trying to watch a movie on NetFlix, 10 minutes after getting into bed. Breakfast at the Braemar is an experience not to be missed, cereals, fresh fruit salad & yogurt, bacon & eggs cooked to perfection by John. I have never met such a welcoming couple as John & Mel. NZ you will never get to stay in such a beautiful hotel as the Braemar with such wonderful hosts as John & Mel.

I began my trip to NZ in Auckland, and John and Mel made me feel right at home! A lovely home, great breakfast, very quiet but very central location - within walking distance of every place I wanted to go! John is super knowledgeable and kind, with great advice. I couldn’t have asked for a better intro to NZ, and highly recommend Braemar. Thanks!!!

John & Mel are fantastic hosts in this lovingly restored grand home. Greeted with open arms (tea and coffee made for us on arrival) and made to feel like we were at home for our time there, unfortunately not long enough though. The communal lounge is perfect for complimentary afternoon wine or beer and chats with the owners or other guests and to cuddle their dog Tina. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful hosts gave us lots of recommendations for tourist spots for some excellent times. Highly recommend for couples or singles wanting a relaxed friendly break in Auckland, within reasonable walking distance to a range of shops and restaurants and attractions.

So beautifully said, I think I know which guest you are. We enjoyed your company too and with such an interesting mix of other guests staying too, the conversation was really fun. Tina misses you already. Bon voyage.

The home is centrally located with easy access to the downtown and to gardens if you want to stroll through. The house has an interesting history and the host is delighted to share it with you. They are the most accommodating hosts and made our trip to Auckland so much more delightful.
