we didn't stay at the hostel, we just went to the bar which is inside the hostel. it was pretty good, prices were reasonable and full of travelers as well. the bar has its own pool table, and also tables outside of you are a smoker. it's in the city center so the location is perfect.

I didn't got a locker for me until my toommate gave hers; receptionist told that they are repairing them and suggested that I bring all the valuables to the reception. And wifi which I paid (1day); did work less than hour. Bed was horrible; unstable and mattress was a joke. Reception guy was friendly but it doesn't make up for...

Second time at the fat camel, great location. 24hr reception is a nice plus, as is the free 'snack meal' they give you. The no-alcohol in the rooms rule is SUPER ANNOYING, but they want you to use their bar downstairs instead. Kind of feels like an old student halls where they've turned the bedrooms into dorms? You're almost staying...

Worst hostel i've been in so far. The kitchen was horrible, with one stove for 6 dorms, filthy fridges (that barely worked) and almost no cutlery available. Although this was a "dry" hostel, the long term guests were always drinking, yelling in the middle of the night, doing drugs and running around naked in the corridor. Would not recommend this...

Stayed for 4 nights and couldn't wait to leave. So disgusted with the outdated filthy common rooms. There are NO facilities. 1 toilet on my floor and the first night there, there was no toilet paper. Would not recommend this place. Pay the little bit extra to up grade

When i read the reviews I was concerned about staying here, but i had no problem. Yes it was small and outdated but when you pay budget what do you expect? It was safe and clean, and when I pay for cheap that's all I can ask for.

We stayed here after 3 months of travelling and loved it! The double room we stayed in was clean, the bed was huge and the kitchen, shower and toilet were cleaned daily. The staff were so friendly and the free food was cheap and cheerful. Night life can get abit loud but what do you expect you're in a hostel...

Do not stay at fat camel - worst hostel I have ever stayed at. We were in a 'female sanctuary' which was fine. It had its own communal room with kitchen which was used by at least 4 dorms. However, the kitchen had no ventilation whatsoever. Someone burnt their food and the smell didn't clear at all. No air vents...

Booked a 4 girls dorm for a couple of nights. Beds were hard and the noice of the pub was loud at night. Kept on until late. Loved that we had private kitchen and living room for a couple of rooms in a time. Staff was very friendly and place was kept clean. The fact that we could upgrade our...

This is the cheapest rate that you can get in Auckland. The room was okay, but the staffs at the reception are very unwelcoming. I booked through booking.com where they stated their checked in time as 1 pm and it turned out as 2 pm in reality. + side - Cheapest price - Free smallsize dinner from 7-8pm - Good...
