In the past we have frequently stayed at the Sky City Grand, nearby - which we like. The recently opened Horizon is one block away and there is undercover access between the three hotels: Sky City Grand, Sky City Hotel and the new Horizon. Horizon is expensive and very similar to the Grand, but the rooms are newer. Like the Grand, Horizon rooms are quiet and luxurious. Enough space for a couple. The bathrooms are slightly bigger than those in the standard rooms of the Grand. There is a gym, although not as well equipped as the gym at the Grand. The only drawback is the location (not helped by the disruptive ongoing street works in the area) Horizon’s Grill restaurant and bar are lovely, & there are some restaurants in Federal street. Otherwise it’s quite a long walk down to the central business area and the harbour front where most of the restaurants, shops are located. The service at Horizon was outstanding, in spite of the hotel being full - due to the Coldplay concert. There is an underground car park if you need it. We will likely stay here again.

My stay was fantastic, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful, I stayed for my 50th birthday, they gave me a birthday card and jar of the best popcorn I'd ever had which was a lovely gesture.

I'm a bit of a tech geek so I appreciated the TV having a Chromecast built in, was no trouble casting my favourite content controlled from my mobile. The touch panels for lighting (3 brightness levels), privacy, and another touch screen for the air conditioning were great.
I like it colder than most people and the air conditioning had absolutely no problems cooling my room to my preferred temperature (which is quite an achievement!), and it was very quiet even on maximum fan setting.

We had high expectations and hopes for our stay at Horizon…it had been hyped up and marketed well, being branded as something extra special and new by the Skycity brand. What we came away with was an Underwhelming and disappointing Hotel Experience. The staff were not very friendly, the rooms were beautifully decorated and were functional, but quite small, no decent view, and beds were not very comfortable. The hotel facilities were basic, no pool or spa facilities and we were like??? Hotels like The Skycity Grand and The Cordis has more to offer and definitely better choices for a high end hotel stay. Don’t stay here if you are looking for something me pampered 5 star luxury…perhaps the only thing going for it is the location? But then-why wouldn’t you just stay at the Grand? We came away wondering what all the hype had been about and feeling duped. Would we stay here again? Consensus is no.

My husband and I had a very pleasant overnight staycation here for his birthday yesterday. The service from the front desk at check-in to breakfast at The Grill this morning was outstanding. They clearly want their visitors to be happy and comfortable. Speaking of comfort, I have to say we were blown away by the room, which offered partial views of the harbour. It was beautifully decorated and the two features I’m particularly fussy about were absolutely dreamy - the bed and the shower. I will definitely recommend this hotel, not only for the superlative customer service, but also for its easy access via its sky bridge to the restaurants and Sky Tower in the Sky City complex across the street.

The Horizon by SkyCity is an exceptional hotel. We were there for 3 nights and the service is first class. The staff is helpful and attentive. The head concierge, Shaun (sorry if misspelled) was lovely and helpful. He made my birthday celebration very special. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms so comfortable and elegant. Highly recommend. The person I would like to really thank for making our stay exceptional is Mr Kent Gumapac. He is one of the senior concierge team members and he made us feel as if we were the most important guests at the hotel. He went beyond what I would expect from any 5 star hotel. We have stayed at many luxurious and beautiful places during our travels. The service provided by the concierge team elevated our experience beyond expectation. I would not stay anywhere else in Auckland. Thank you Kent and team!

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The facilities are new and functional. Senior Concierge Kent was exceptional. He always goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience the moment you walk into the hotel. Every single staff in this hotel is professional, caring and friendly. Breakfast was amazing too!

This is definitely the best hotel with top service in Auckland. We were on a group tour and stayed in several hotels all over the country, Horizon stood out as the most accommodating, comfortable, and friendly. It's just a few minutes walk from Weta, the neighborhood is clean, modern and convenient, surrounded by convenient stores and restaurants. I carelessly left my spare phone in a hotel in Wellington, and I am super grateful that the Concierge at Horizon went out of their way to help get it back... (it was a slightly complicated situation as I left New Zealand before the phone reached Horizon).

This was our 3rd stay at The Horizon and it was absolutely awesome from the time we checked in until our departure. Staff were so helpful, chatty, efficient and friendly. Bottles of water were given on arrival as it was a scorching hot day outside!!. The rooms were lovely and cool and well presented. Had breakfast on our last morning of our 2 night stay and there was a good variety to choose from. This is becoming our hotel of choice when in the AKL CBD. The pre-arrival email detailing our stay is a good touch too. It has definitely improved since our first stay!!.
