Cordis, Auckland, operated by Langham Hospitality Group, garners compliments for its spotless rooms and commendable cleanliness. While some guests have had issues with the shuttle service, the hotel's location remains a hit for its ease of access to local attractions. The luxurious amenities, including the spa, heated pool, and the lavish breakfast spread at Eight, are popular among guests, though opinions on value vary.
Room experiences are mixed, with the newer tower rooms receiving praise, but some find the older sections lacking. Service feedback is also divided, with commendable staff encounters alongside reports of service delays.

Detailed Reviews
We had booked another Hotel in Auckland, but with changes because of the COVID-19 we got notified that we were not able to stay at our Booked Hotel, and they had relocated us to the Cordis.
Well, what a bonus! The reception, the rooms, the Hotel facilities, the service staff, the food surpassed our expectations. We planned on having a couple of days exploring the area in our car, but felt instantly relaxed in the lovely atmosphere of the Hotel. This meant that we didn't want to leave, and we just relaxed at the facilities of the Hotel, the swimming and spa pool were very welcoming. When the reception knew that this break was for our 40th Wedding Anniversary we were delivered a bottle of wine and some delicious little petite fours. I cannot over emphasise how amazing the staff were, in all departments. Our family came to visit with their little 5 year old twins, the staff offered them some robes and slippers to use when they came up to the pool with us. The restaurant staff gave them some candy floss and marshmallows with fruit and chocolate dip, which was totally unexpected as we were awaiting a meal in the lobby area. Everyone was so accomodating, our stay was practically perfect in every way!
We definitely were the winner on this Hotel change, and will consider this as a first option now that we know what delights are in store at Cordis. Thank you.

We asked to change rooms as our first room was very dark and dingy; we were offered a much better room - in fact an upgrade, which was a nice surprise; this second room was obviously quite recently refurbished and so much better than the first!
Breakfast was good. Staff were helpful and professional, especially the concierges.
A good end to our NZ trip!

My husband and I visited this hotel twice in less than 2 weeks, the first time for 2 nights and the second time for 1 night, however we actual experienced three different rooms due to an issue with our AC. The AC in our room on the first night was producing 28C despite being set to 18C. We were given a portal AC, however it was quite noisy and seemed to be competing with the faulty AC. Suffice it to say, our first nights sleep wasn't the best. The hotel staff managed this complaint well, and they did move us to a new room and offered us a complimentary breakfast to compensate us for the worst night sleep we had during our honeymoon.
Top tip: go to the breakfast early, we went towards the end & the buffet was relatively limited.
Facilities were good, room was well stocked, pool and spa facilities were excellent. We had highlighted that we were celebrating our honeymoon so feel that something small could have been done to celebrate this. Overall, would stop again or recommend to people stopping in Auckland.
We didn't use the valet parking at $45 a night, instead we opted to self park nearby (practically over road) at $16.50 for a 24 hour period using the parkmate app.

When I book a five star hotel my expectations are raised, if I book a Club Lounge level room they are even higher. Unfortunately the Cordis Auckland failed to meet my expectations.
A little history. I have been coming to this location for about thirty years, firstly when it was a Sheraton, then a couple of times as the Langham and this time as the Cordis, so my expectations were partly set by previous experiences of the Club Lounge on level ten in the original building. There were butlers to check you in and show you to your room and generally take care of you.
Firstly the check in:
When I arrived there were a lot of people queuing in the reception area, but no problem I had booked a Club room so had private check in at the Club Lounge.
Wrong. I asked the concierge how to get to the Club Lounge check in only to be told it was not open for check in but a friendly concierge lady took me to another desk where I could check in with the duty manager. Unfortunately her good intentions backfired because the manager was delayed about twenty minutes sorting out a previous guest so we might as well joined the que.
The Room:
On the sixteenth floor, it was large but minimalistic in décor and furnishing. No slippers and minimal bathroom amenities. There were fixed containers of body wash/shampoo and conditioner in the shower just like a two star motel. (I know Cordis you are saving the planet) For a new building I was surprised it was not double glassed to keep out the city noises at night. Although I turned up the air conditioning it never got above eighteen degrees room temperature. Not what I would expect from a five star Club level room.
The Club Lounge:
The name Club Lounge evokes a world of quiet exclusive luxury but unfortunately the décor and atmosphere was more up market cafeteria in style. On the upside the staff were friendly and efficient and the food and drink choices for afternoon tea and evening drinks were very good. One of the advantages of booking a Club Lounge room was to be able to have breakfast in quiet and relaxed surroundings. But no Club Lounge breakfasts available only the crowded main restaurant buffet surrounded by crying babies and children running everywhere.
Sorry Cordis you failed to meet my expectations, or am I expecting too much and pining for the old level ten style of lounge and service?

I have never had a nicer stay at a hotel. It was very professional, friendly, and accommodating. The rooms were absolutely stunning, the staff were very friendly and helpful right down to noticing the small details like it was raining and I might like an umbrella while I went for a morning stroll, and to offer free drinks because it was my birthday. My friends who come here often recommend this hotel highly, and I can totally see why.
The bar not only looks beautiful, but the drinks were stunningly made and we were very well looked after. The spa and pool area are spotless, and felt like I was stepping into a completely different space. It was peaceful and smelled divine.
Very affordable for a high-end hotel, and I will definitely be returning and recommending this to my friends and family.

Celebrating my husbands 68th birthday and our first venture out since lockdown we were a bit nervous but the Cordis Hotel did it all to ensure our safety, to show us a good time and to take great care of us. There was hand sanitiser through out the Hotel and staff were busily wiping surfaces and cleaning. Although Club was not the normal, service was excellent, the food was exceptional and the drinks aplenty washed our fears away. Rebecca, Club Butler was most attentive, we were warmly welcomed and fondly farewelled, thank you Cordis for our a very happy birthday!!!

This hotel is perfectly located for those coming in from the airport and taking the Skybus - the stop is right outside the hotel. Also great location to the city/Britomart/Ponsonby etc. Staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms clean and very comfortable beds. I always enjoy eating in the Lobby Lounge - the food is excellent and the pricing is in line with restaurants in the city. We were make to feel special by the outstanding service received in the Lobby Lounge and I'm looking forward to a return visit in a couple of months. If not staying with friends, this is my hotel of choice in Auckland. Try it - you won't be disappointed!

We just love this place. We have now stayed here 4-5 times and every trip has been wonderful. We always get a room that allows us access to the Club Lounge as it is such a treat to eat such great food, drink lovely wines and all with such excellent service. We pretty much have our three meals a day there in the lounge, which makes the whole experience a lot more affordable. i.e. sure the rooms are really expensive, but when you are not spending so much out on meals/drinks then it all becomes quite reasonable. We will certainly be back.

Stayed for New Years given reviews online and pictures. Other reviewers must have stayed at a different hotel or have never been to a good hotel. The room was outdated and musty. Ground level was extremely loud from both cars idling from the valet and the street (no rooms should be on this level). The noise on NYE kept us up until 5am. Heard a whole shouting match and fight go on right outside our window for 30 minutes without hotel staff intervening. My girlfriend would get sick with a runny nose and sore throat everytime she set foot into the room (did not happen at any of the other 4 hotels on the trip). Bathroom was poorly ventilated and outdated. The WiFi barely worked. Creating a hotspot from my phone on 2G was better WiFi. It’s 2020 and your WiFi needs to work. I had to do work and had to walk to the lobby of another hotel to do it (that should not happen). Finally, all this would be acceptable if it was half the price, but it was not, so pretty poor value.

Booked a room for three as part of a spa break.....on arrival the room was prepared for two only and despite contacting front desk to request arrangements for the third person...nothing materialised. After speaking with a manager we left to enjoy the spa (which I would rate as 5* thanks to staff and treatments). On return to the room a blanket in a plastic bag and a pillow had been left on a chair? Not sure what they wanted us to do with this? We again spoke to a manager and arranged to move rooms although this was after we were told the hotel was fully booked (clearly it wasn’t!). We moved rooms at 1030pm and this resolved the issue however after checking in at 3 and raising the issues I feel 7 hours to provide the service we had paid for was inadequate. Having stayed in numerous 5* hotels in many different countries I felt this was nowhere near what I expected. Breakfast experience was more positive and checkout problem free. Noting the manager did try and recompense by way of a bottle of wine and free parking; the fact we were only there for 1 night and the whole day was fraught I am unable to offer more than 2 stars which reflects the poor experience. I have stayed at the Langham previously and had a good experience hence revisiting but am not able to recommend this hotel nor would I plan to return.

Thank you for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us for a spa break and we are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the treatments at Chuan Spa, it is certainly a special place. We are disappointed to hear that you experienced issues with the room configuration, as we aim to deliver a 5-star experience to all of our guests and value that you have stayed with us prior to the rebrand to Cordis. We are truly sorry that the room move was resolved long after you have raised the issue with the team, as accommodation cancellations are sometimes received on arrival days which would have allowed for a room move. Thank you again for taking the time to share this with us and we do hope that you will allow us the opportunity to create a more memorable experience for you in the future. I agree with Tanea, you would have to book that day if you want access to the room before the afternoon. Contact the hotel and ask them what is the earliest you can check in, they might let you at 1 or 2pm. In that case leave your bags with them and spend the morning exploring Auckland. This will help you adjust to local time better than sleeping all morning in the room will.
Hi Curly, that'd be a question for the hotel and I strongly recommend that you save all the emails as their internal systems are a mess. What the reservation team tells you could be totally different to what the front desk will tell you.
My husband uses the gym at the hotel all the time when he goes there but he has never seen any yoga mats. Cordis Auckland do have a Facebook page that you can message through, though. Fab place for a stay!
