Great customer service and excellent value if looking for a stay of value. Have onsite parking subject to availability, central to Auckland University, The Viaduct and Parnell. Bar, Breakfast Buffet and In Room dining. The hotel itself is rather aged and tired but its specs are still on the cusp of modern standard, and the hygeine, care and cleanliness of the hotel and common areas especially conference and meeting rooms is excellent.
For the price, the location, service and bed comfort are quite appropriate. It's not a luxury product, but it ticks boxes for an easy city accommodation. Nothing amazing, but definitely nothing bad. Staff were lovely, and the coffee was nice too.
We spent 2 nights to celebrate 31st night and new year 2022. The AC was not working, they offered me fan. It was scorching hot in Auckland and much better was expected. Will think twice before booking again at this hotel. Booked simple joys from 31st Dec 21- 2nd Jan 22.
The Front of House made me feel that we were not welcome. Very strange experience. The Restaurant food and service was like amatuer hour. The dinner service was slow and the food was poor quality and slow. We were the only table restaurant. The next morning was just the pits. The restaurant had food items missing again like the last night. So we ordered what was available only to be told they didn't have enough eggs. What kind of Restaurant runs out of eggs.So I got my breakfast which minus the bacon I ordered. My wife hot cakes which turned up stone cold. We gave up at this point and left restaurant. We checked out and mentioned the problems. They took $20 off my whole hotel bill. No apology. Was going to return for a couple of nights in January. Maybe Not!
Room was Clean and comfortable shower head was low. Staff very nice. Location good a short walk down the hill to the waterfront. Restaurant was good For Auckland the price of the room was very reasonable.
The barista was excellent & the breakfast buffet was good value for money. The compact room was spotlessly clean and a reasonable doze given the location. But, I will never stay there again in winter because the room was freezing. We did call the front desk about it but there was no improvement.
Disappointed as this is a case of doesn’t look like the photos online when you arrive! Booked 2 nights as we were flying in early hours so wanted a room to go straight into. No issue with this but hotel is old and run down.. breakfast only one toaster worked, simple selection of food very basic and ran out of items that people had to constantly ask to be replaced. Parking $20 a night yet they have only about 10-15 bays first come/first serve basis. Then if they are full you have to go park off site somewhere down the road.. not secure parking either so bit pricey and should just be included for the price they charge. Rooms are old, old furniture, bathroom shower moldy, no water bottles provided. Fridge and tea/coffee provided with a kettle Bleach/moldy/ musty smell to rooms. In all we were due to stay here again on the way back but have cancelled this and booked a modern apartment close to the Quay for $80 less. About 1km from Queen street shops & quay can walk unless raining then a short Uber drive away. Staff were friendly but hotel needs an upgrade for the prices they charge as there is much better out there.…
My daughter flew in to Auckland on Friday to stay 2 nights. The purpose was to meet family members and go to The Lion king. Upon arrival about 8:45 pm she paid and was given her key. Problem: room not serviced. Took 20mins to sort. Next day family arrived, checked in, booked for 5 for dinner at 5:30pm. Arrived for dinner on time, ordered drinks and mains. 30 mins later, no drinks, no dinner. Order had not reached the kitchen.or bar! Time now 6.20pm! Left restaurant and walked to the Spark Arena. No Dinner😢 Fabulous Show! Would not stay again!
I stayed here for one night in July 2021. The hotel is easy to reach, just off the motorway. If you're visiting the university, the hotel is very well located. The room was quite basic and spartan. There was no desk. There was also some sort of smell in the room - not sure whether it was because someone had been smoking, but it was something similar. When I turned the shower on the plumbing made a noise. The rooms really need a refurbishment. I was awakened by the sound of people talking in the room next door. They weren't shouting. It sounded just like a normal conversation. I paid extra for the breakfast buffet ($20). That was ok - not the best buffet in the world, but it had all the usual buffet items. Service at the hotel was very good. Staff members were polite. I won't stay here again as I don't want to hear people in the next room.…
We stayed for two nights, the hotel is comfortable, good beds, well located and has off street parking on site, easy to get to. What really stood out was the hotel staff, friendly and helpful, from our first contact at reception, through room service, bar, restaurant and kitchen, they were all great, we saw a lot of multi tasking an obvious sign of a well run establishment. We would definitely stay again at this hotel.
