This property was booked as a result of other hotels being currently as MIQs. It was one of the only ones available also because of America's Cup. This property while I regard this less than average, does have some okay qualities, i.e., king-size very comfy bed, nice sized 1-bed suite. Halfway thru my 2-night stay, the A/C went on the fritz and the weather was humid and 25 C. I was told that no one was available at 5 pm to fix it, a poor excuse. Parking is extremely limited (no more than 15 small car spaces). I was given a voucher and told to park in Wilson's garage down Anzac St. There was no room safe and lifts are not security tagged. These are things to be aware of. I was given a couple of drink vouchers due to limited room-cleaning staff. I would rate this a rather inconvenient stay and would think twice about returning.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Staff are great, location is central, rooms comfortable with the added bonus of a balcony. Yes, I agree with other reviews that the hotel is a little run down. But the price reflects this.

Booked this hotel knowing we were doing a whirlwind up and back overnighter on the Northern Explorer. Prior to arriving - booked a late check-in which was not an issue (good start). Arrived at The Strand station and noticed the hotel was super close but caught a taxi anyway and no regrets about it. Hotel staff knew it was us straight away and reminded me I booked breakfast (because the train leaves earlier than the restaurant opens) so they offered to organise a breakfast to go for us (super kind and they had no obligation to). Front counter staff super friendly and had lots of suggestions available if we were roaming - took our dinner order straight down and took it into the kitchen so we wouldn’t miss the dinner sitting. Lovely bar staff to with lots of knowledge. To top it off - had just requested an average room but ended up given a junior suite which was beautifully appointed with fab views. Perfect one night we in Auckland and couldn’t be happier. Won me over hands down Team Copthorne!

A little dated but outstanding value for money. Friendly and helpful staff, location is a little away from the main street making for a quieter stay. Only disappointment was that the restaurant closed at 8.00pm due to Covid restrictions.

Stopped by for a few days, and found the hotel to be solid Copthorne experience. Hotel in central Auckland, easy walking distance to lower city Good rooms, without any bells and whistles. Fantastic breakfast selection from the buffet. Good bar prices. Would like to see the evening's menu's selection improved. Seamless checking in,and out. Always a reliable place to stay.
