Nestled in a prime spot by the harbor, Park Hyatt Auckland is celebrated for its immaculate cleanliness and sophisticated ambiance, with modern rooms offering stunning views that guests adore. The luxurious spa and hydrotherapy facilities stand out among its praised amenities. While the service garners accolades for staff friendliness and professionalism, some visitors have experienced slow breakfast service. Despite the high praise, noise disturbances and mixed opinions on value suggest that not every aspect of the stay is consistently tranquil or perceived as cost-effective.

We were at the Park Hyatt during Auckland Anniversary weekend and the area around the Hyatt was booming. It was truly a great location with harbor attractions and great restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk.

The rooms were well designed and little digital pads near the bed and doors controlled lighting and outside blinds (in a balcony room). Room tip - the balcony rooms not facing the water don't have any kind of view, so I would probably opt for a cheaper room without the balcony.

Friendly staff.

The Park Hyatt Auckland is by far the best place to stay while in the City. The hotel, location and service levels cannot be beat. Our Harbor View room was comfortable, spacious and well appointed. A very early morning arrival prompted the staff to provide us with Spa shower/locker access while our room was prepared. The restaurants and bar were all superb and fairly priced. Definitely take advantage of breakfast at Onemata which offered a large selection of buffet and hot (made to order) items. The hotel is located in the heart of the very walkable harbor area. Our cruise ship docked two blocks away from the hotel. A highlight for us was the easy rental of Lime scooters to tour the nearby (but not walkable) Mission Bay coastline. Finally, don’t forget to pet Beau - the front desk black lab dog to complete your welcome to this fantastic hotel property. We wish all hotels could rise to this standard! Booking thru a Hyatt Prive agent can provide status like benefits if you don’t actually have World of Hyatt status.

Kia Ora charlesc176, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful review. We are delighted to hear that your experience at Park Hyatt Auckland was exceptional. It is wonderful to know that you found your Harbor View room to be both comfortable and spacious, and that our team was able to accommodate your early arrival with the spa shower and locker access. We are pleased that you enjoyed the dining options, particularly the breakfast at Onemata, as well as the hotel's prime location within Auckland’s vibrant harbor area. It is also great to hear that the Lime scooter rentals provided a convenient way to explore the nearby Mission Bay coastline. We are especially grateful for your kind mention of Beau, our front desk dog, who certainly enjoys greeting our guests. It is always a pleasure to add that personal touch to the guest experience. Your recommendation of booking through a Hyatt Prive agent is greatly appreciated, and we thank you for your thoughtful endorsement. It was a true pleasure to host you, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Park Hyatt Auckland in the future. Best Regards Brett Sweetman - General Manager

Park Hyatt Hotel Auckland

Stayed here two times now and absolutely adore this property! From the outside, it’s hard to grasp how amazing this rather unassuming building is made in the inside. On my first trip, they upgraded me to a huge room which was bigger than the suites in most hotels but apparently wasn’t even a proper “suite”. Coming back recently to celebrate my partner’s 40th birthday, we were given an even bigger, proper suite and it was absolutely massive. All the rooms are modern while not overly plush and reflect the theme of sailing and the traditional Maori people very well, something that’s evident in the beautiful lobby and other parts of the hotel too. Staff was generally friendly and city is easily reachable via a pedestrian bridge but there are various food and entertainment options in the immediate vicinity as well.

Status recognition as a Hyatt Globalist was perfect, not only the upgrades but also the warm welcome, various in room amenities and also of course the free breakfast. Breakfast is a rather lavish affair though we noted the restaurant manager to be a bit aggressive to his hard working staff members which is always a bit off putting.

Finally the only real disappointment is the pool which simply doesn’t really work, seems like an afterthought which is a real shame: While I had beautiful views and afternoon sunshine on my terrace during the first stay (it would easily fit 20 people so way bigger than a “balcony”), the pool is on level 2 and faces the windy and shady side of the hotel. It has an infinity edge with views of the brewpub and the top of the ugly silos opposite of it. They’ve planted trees there so that you don’t have to see the brewpub and silos, hence the view from the infinity edge is… Trees! Awesome idea, must have been the same architect that designed the Hilton pool in Surfer’s Paradise which happens to sit in the shadow of its own hotel building all day.

Used 29k points to stay in room 240. Bad redemption. Not worth it. Disembarked from a cruise mid-morning and had booked a king balcony room. Staff were gracious in getting us into a room early as we were catching a midnight flight and just needed a place to rest before the 12 hour flight home.

I would NOT recommend this room and I wouldn't stay at the Park Hyatt Auckland again because of it.

The king non-balcony room had a window that whistled loudly ALL DAY from the outside wind. We double- and triple-checked the window to ensure it was securely closed and locked. As the front desk staff told us the hotel was booked solid and we were happy to just be in a room early, we did not complain or request a different room. It was constant and incredibly loud.

After our flight was delayed until the morning, we went to bed. After 10pm, there was a loud "vacuum cleaner" noise coming from (what sounded like) directly outside our room. Not sure where the vacuuming/noise was coming from as the halls are tile - not carpet, but this was incredibly disturbing during what should have been "quiet hours."

I felt this room was kind of a "bottom of the barrel" room assignmen, which didn't make me feel valued except for the early check-in.

The spa was definitely a high-quality experience. I was not a guest at the hotel, but popped in for a 60-min Swedish Massage on my birthday. Just a warning: spa customers are not allowed to use the facilities unless they have a 90-min treatment or longer. Because it was a slow day, the staff were extremely generous and allowed me to check out the hydrotherapy room before my treatment! I would not expect this to be a normal occurrence, however. Overall, I would say the facilities were nice but not the most luxurious I have seen.

The hydrotherapy area contains many different fun buttons to press for bubbles, jets, and cold plunge faucets. There's also your standard sauna and steam room. I would say that the facilities could benefit from some upkeep.

When I went in Dec 2024, the door for the steam room dragged along the ground, making a loud scraping or banging noise when opened. Although I spent a good 30 minutes inside, it also did not get as hot or steamy as would be expected. Another guest commented on the heat and the door as well, so I knew it was noticed by other guests.

My massage was excellent, and I enjoyed relaxing afterwards with some tea in the post-treatment area. It was definitely worth the cost and I felt there was a lot of attention paid to me. The vibe was definitely a little corporate, but that's ok. I would recommend a visit!

Kia Ora MarissabU1919QC, Thank you for taking the time to review our SPA following your recent experience. We appreciate all feedback provided, and I am thrilled to hear you enjoyed your overall experience. Despite not having a 90 minute treatment, I pleased to hear the team were able to extend an offer of using our full facilities on this occasion. It is always our aim to exceed our guest’s expectations, and despite the issues you experienced with the steam room, I am pleased we were still able to do this during your visit. I appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention, I can assure you the issue you faced with the steam room and door has since been rectified. However, I would like to apologise for the inconvenience you had experienced at the time. I trust we will see you again at the SPA, we look forward to welcoming you back in the not-so-distant future. This modern hotel on the harbour was ideally situated for bars, restaurants, shops and the ferries. Our very slick minimalist king harbour view room was spakling clean and well appointed with a large furnished balcony, marble bathroom with tub and shower, walk-in wardrobe and separate wc and wash hand basin. Beautiful wood flooring and fittings and overall felt light, airy and comfortable - albeit the built in L shaped bench seating isnt as comfy as it looks and the controls for the many lighting options took us a little while to master! The only word of caution is that despite the shielding the balcony gets pretty windy and unless the doors to the balcony tightly shut, there is a fair amount of wind noise.
The breakfast offered lovely buffet options and a la carte - all was delicious and pretty good value. We dined in the hotel on one evening and had a most enjoyable meal with helpful attentive service.
There is also an attractive spacious lounge area with a fireplace and more casual dining options but while we were there, it took quite a while to get served.
Overall, a beautifully appointed modern luxury hotel with great dining and very good levels of service.

This is the 4th Park Hyatt I’ve stayed in and it lived up to my very high expectations.

Location is perfect as you’re right on the water and have bars, restaurants, cafes, and the Maritime museum all within a 5 minute walk.

Service is very high quality - friendly, professional, and they get things done! We had a (user error) mix up on our reservation and they sorted it out for us quickly. They were nice enough to introduce our kids to the hotel dog, Beau, and give them coloring books while we waited to check in.

Rooms are on the large side (if you can get a room with a balcony those are large too although ours only had two small chairs and no table).

Food is great (we only ate at The Pantry but the other restaurants looked good too).

There’s a wonderful gym on the second floor along with a family-friendly outdoor infinity pool that was big and just heated enough to enjoy (it’s covered so you’re not directly able to lay in the sun) and the hot tub, cold plunge, steam room, and sauna are all indoors and 16+.

The hotel, opened in September 2020, still seems brand new, with modern decor and plumbing and high-tech lighting. Yet it doesn't seem too edgy for us traditionalists.

The harbor-view room provided for a standard free night award was really a suite, with a dressing room; large bathroom holding shower, tub, and two sinks; a separate "powder room"; a good-sized dining table; and a huge, comfortable bed at least 8 ft. (2.5 m) wide.

The entire staff was uniformly friendly, respectful, smiling, and helpful---and this is in NZ, with a no-tipping culture.

Food in room-service dinner and buffet breakfasts was excellent, varied, plentiful, and reasonably priced.

All in all, a great value if you pay in cash, and even greater in points.

The Hyatt is very well located, room/bathroom spacious, but cleanliness and service are not 5*!
When we arrived, the room was only partially clean, sugar residue from the previous guest, toilet not clean, hole in the bathrobe, no body lotion, toilet paper and tissues were not replenished, room service not done/that's not possible at 5*!
Apparently they haven't learned anything from COVID: buffet in the morning everything open, dirty forks and spoons, butter was presented in one piece - really ugly and the wall behind the buffet hasn't seen a rag in a long time!
A shame for a hotel in the Park Hyatt group!

Perfect location, hotel facilities and very pleasant staff. Very poor breakfast service at Onemata with long waits for coffee, empty plates and delays to replenish continental food. Pasties are usually a specialty of Hyatt hotels but this one produced burnt poor offerings. If looking for fresh food suggest breakfast at the pantry as their offering was so much nicer and no delays in service.

We had an issue paying a huge nightly fee for a room that was not serviced until 4.30pm which is not accepted when you pay for a full days rate but can’t utilise the room for the entire day. Turn down service was around 5.20pm which was pointless when room had only just been serviced. Housekeeping staff were very friendly and doing a great job. Have stayed at this hotel a number of times but have to say this visit was disappointing and certainly not the 5 star service we were expecting.

We do place high expectations on our service and product, and we have taken your comments on board. Your additional point regarding your room being serviced late has also been noted. Our guest rooms are usually serviced between 9am and 4pm daily, however, we did experience delays during your stay due to the high occupancy. I apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused. Hi there My daughter and I stayed in a beautiful room overlooking the water. We had a bathroom each one with a bath in it and one with a shower in it. The toilet was in a room by itself, it was like a throne room! I hope this is helpful?

The swimming pool is outdoors but covered and heated all year round. They also have a wonderful indoor spa area open to guests that has a large warm hot tub/spa pool and a plunge pool (along with a steam room and sauna which are lovely!)
