Stayed here for about three weeks, great kitchen with an oven and cleaned often. Activities such as film nights and bbq’s which was great for us towards the end of our trip when funds were running low. The mattresses aren’t the best but it’s cheap and friendly so I highly recommend to any traveller/backpacker

This hostel is very basic. Staff quite rude and disinterested. In the week I stayed there only saw a maximum of 4 spoons in the draw. Nothing washed up correctly. Only bonus is quite a few laundry machines and it's not too loud. There were a lot of long term people smoking weed on a daily basis on the roof and outside the hostel. Would not return

Rooms were very dirty and messy. When I got my bed there were hairs all over it so I asked if it had been changed and the staff were defensive immediately and quite rude. Pillows were like cotton wool and the kitchen still haunts me! So dirty! I felt like I was crawling with dirt leaving this place!

As we were attending a concert we decided to book a double room with shared bathroom for one night... The Gents section of the toilet/showers were very clean, the Women section not.. it looked only a few guys where sleeping in same floor, but a lot of females... The room was spartan but clean and at night all was quiet... We could store our gear during the day before checking in.. for free. Location is good, only 5 min walk from the busstation, near shops and restaurants.. BUT: when checking in we had to pay a key deposit (no problem ), as we were leaving next day at 7 to catch a bus, we asked if reception was open at that time.. No worries was the answer " we open at 7". At 7 next morning nobody was there , at 7.15 still nobody was there.. we were forced to leave to catch our bus without deposit back.. And we were not the only one... DO WHAT YOUR PROMISE...…

Me and my partner stayed here in February at the end of our travels in New Zealand. We were meant to have spent two nights in Frienz Hostel however we couldn’t bare being there after the first night. The whole room felt like it was rotting! The floors were dirty, the wallpaper was hanging off the walls and ceiling, the bed sheets looked like they hadn’t be cleaned etc. We asked for a refund when checking out which the extremely rude receptionist said had to be organised through booking.com then got declined. Would never recommend to anyone staying here.
