I am not one to write a review but due to the amount of bad reviews on this apartment. I thought it would deserve a review.
It is not a five star apartment, but is priced appropriately, rooms are clean, Staff were all welcoming and friendly. In particular the lady on the front desk, who was lovely on the phone and in person. Car parks are tight, you would want to be a good driver as the spaces are tight. Most the parks are taken by what looks like permanent residents. We always found a park but we all had to get out of the car first, so it could be parked as the parks are that tight in a med size car that you can't open the doors and my husband struggle to get out of the drivers side. Yes we got the apartment with the person upstairs that must be watering plants, soaking you down below, but we just didn't use the patio. We read there was there was no dryers, they are actually washer/driers in one :)

Decided to stay in city for 2 nights picked this apartment photos online looked really nice & comfortable after a busy 9 days prior, walked into to apartment felt very disappointed nothing like online that’s for sure walls dirty, kitchen benches slimy, the whole place actually needs a revamp. The bathroom was horride did some washing the clothes airer was completely broken so was hard to dry clothes , got plates out of cupboard they were absolutely disgusting dirty as the cutlery was filthy you couldn’t use it. The hall ways smelt it was not worth the money we paid for. We went to the roof top pool as hot day to find there were no deck chairs to sit on just the ground. Will never come back very disappointed

We booked this to be within walking distance of a particular car rental office. Sadly we found it second rate from first to last….. brusque reception, broken washing machine (“I’ll send someone” - nope). One bedroom had no windows and only one light switch outside the room, strange smell in the hall of Floor 1 ……

You can do better than this place.

Unsafe and Unacceptable Experience

My family and I stayed at Mont Clare Boutique Apartments on the night of 10th-11th November, and our experience was absolutely unacceptable. At 2:00 a.m., the overnight manager allowed three intoxicated strangers access to our room. This was not only a shocking breach of security but also an incredibly distressing experience, especially as we had our two-year-old daughter with us.

What made the situation worse was the manager’s indifference. Instead of addressing the issue or prioritizing our safety, they merely questioned the trespassers about how they entered the building and walked away, leaving us feeling completely vulnerable. We were unable to sleep for the rest of the night and felt unsafe throughout our stay.

I have since reached out to the hotel to address this matter and request compensation, but they have failed to respond. This lack of accountability and care is extremely disappointing.

I cannot recommend Mont Clare Boutique Apartments to anyone, especially families. Security and guest safety should be a priority, and our experience made it clear that it is not.

I booked this hotel on booking.com as the photos showed a beautiful view of the two bedroom/two-bathroom apartment I was looking for. I organised the rooms, one for myself and my sister and her husband and another room for my brother and his wife as a 60th birthday treat. When we got out of the lift the hallway stunk of cigarette, the room smelt of cigarette and dampness, the ensuite didn't have a shower only a bath meaning my sister and her husband had to shower in our bathroom, the bathroom spelt like there had been a water leak (dampness smell), the washing machine didn't work properly, when the water was turned on for the bath it was yellow, the curtains in the main area had been stabled together, the dining chairs were all different and material dirty, found clothes under our bed, only two wine glasses and our view was of the car park. My sister had a car and as we could look into the car park we noticed that they didn't put the security door down during the day and early in the morning. My brother-in-law had to watch some unruly people coming into the car park looking to see if cars were open. My brothers room: fire alarms kept going off when lights were turned on, TV wasn't working properly and the overall room was quite dirty. The area we found out was quite a rough area and not advisable to walk around by yourself at night or anytime really. We paid good money for 5 nights and it was definitely not worth the money. Very disappointed and lucky we had to have a good laugh about it otherwise you would cry. I felt sorry for reception as when we were complaining there were other people there complaining as well. The owner needs to put money into his apartment and photos on booking.com need to be updated.

Upon arrival and entering the 3rd floor where our room was located, there was a strong stale cigarette/mould smell. When entering our room, the smell was still there. The room, at first glance, was nothing like the photos on the website (had not aged well, patch marks everywhere, and the smell did not make us feel like the place was well looked after or well cleaned, but we dropped our bags off and headed out to already planned activities. That night when we returned and rolled out the sofa bed for the kids to sleep on, it was unusable due to 3/4 of the springs missing and held together with wire? so it was lopsided, and the mattress looked like it had been picked up from the streets. So the kids had to squeeze in and, as a family of 6, had to share two beds. We enquired with staff regarding the bedding, showed them the attached photos, and asked if we could change rooms because of the state of the room and the mattress. Also, the internet cable was missing and had been pulled out of the wall, so there was no Internet as well. He stated he couldn't facilitate anything because the Manager was not back until Tuesday after the Easter long weekend. We also asked about a refund because we were charged for two extra kids to use the sofa bed, which again was unusable. We checked out on Monday, so I was unable to speak to the Manager directly but had sent an email expressing my concerns to be told, " we didn't say anything when checking out" so basically too bad (the reason being we were told the Manager was not back until Tuesday) All in all the way the Manager and staff have handled everything is very disappointing. Now they have our money; they couldn't care less about at least giving us a partial refund due to the sleeping conditions, no internet, false advertising and cleanliness of the property. Again, if you are reading this, my advice would be to spend a little extra and stay somewhere comfortable and clean or spend less and book across the road at Alderney on the Hay, which is cheaper and I've had a lot better experience there than the Monte Clare.

We stayed three nights and were a group of five ladies. We all felt that we had gone to another city yet it was a staycation at home. The location lends itself to beautiful walks and scenery, good food all around and the beds were comfortable. There's no place like home but for a home away from home it was suitable. It is self catering so take everything you think you will need, including dish detergent, tea, milk. They provide a minimal starter pack of toiletries and tea/coffee/sugar sachets but we needed more! Enough toilet paper though, don't pack that! The front desk were very helpful the few times I called on them. No request was ignored or fobbed off. If you want five star go somewhere else. If you want affordable, comfortable, homely and handy, you can't go wrong with Mont Clare. We had a three room, two bathroom suite on the fifth floor.

Poor service - i understand that there is a policy for cancellations, but when the cancellation is out of the control of the person booking, there should be some consideration to why the sudden cancellation and work with the customer to come to an agreement for some sort of refund (just not a refund at all).
The room could of been booked out again and we were considering rebooking, but because of the service we well not be using this accommodation again. Partial refund should of been considered at the least, considering the situation that was given.
Do not book this hotel if you have to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances.

Stayed in a three bedroom apartment on 5th floor for 10 nights with two other couples.

The pros: It's in a great spot, close to restaurants, shops and CAT bus services. You can park your car on site if need be. The washer and dryer provided were new and worked well. The pool was lovely and clean and the gym had adequate equipment (although not enough alcohol wipes etc. to clean after). The staff were all very friendly before and during our stay. The price is fair for what you get (worked out to about $100pn per couple).

The cons: Make no mistake, this place is in need of an upgrade. The bathrooms were old and looked a bit grubby and could do with a good scrub. The ensuite bathroom in bedroom one had a handheld shower in a bath with nowhere to hang it, inconvenient and could be dangerous stepping into and out of a bath for less mobile/older people. The second bathroom/laundry was located in bedroom three, meaning bedroom two occupants had to walk through bedroom three to get to the shower/toilet. Luckily we stayed with close friends so this wasn't an issue for us but it could be if you were less friendly with your housemates! There was no hanging space in bedroom three and nowhere to store suitcases so we felt like we were living in an obstacle course. There were only five chairs for the dining table, some of the crockery had only five pieces, the fridge wasn't very cold so our milk went off within a couple of days. No pan for dustbrush. You could hear noise from above and below with doors closing and people walking around. The place has the feel of a privately owned apartment that is rented out as an investment and the owners clearly don't want to spend any money on it. As per the title of this review, it was very reasonably priced and well located so if you are looking for a little luxury then perhaps pay a bit more and stay elsewhere.

These apartments are an absolute disgrace. Not anything like the pictures, dirty, stink of smoke, cockroaches, filthy benches. After walking in we left to seek alternative accommodation. After 2 months of trying to receive a refund with at least 20 phone calls to Sharon, who is the most useless and unhelpful person I have ever dealt with in my life, no refund and we are out of pocket for 2 accommodation expenses. Listen to the reviews and save your money and DO NOT book here, I hope they are closed down by the health department.
