Wonil Hotel Perth is an intimate and stylish boutique hotel and the first opening of Accor’s Handwritten Collection brand. Wonil, a word used by the First Nations Noongar translates to ‘Peppermint Tree’ and plays an important role in First Nations culture. These trees generously populate the banks of the Swan River surrounding the hotel and have traditionally provided medicinal value to the community, a rich natural habitat for birds and animals, and shade for Noongar communities to gather under, rest and share knowledge. The wonil is a symbol of learning that inspires the hotel’s position in the community. Wonil Hotel Perth fosters a sense of belonging where guests and locals come together to live, learn, work and play with sustainable and locally sourced dining, multifunctional spaces and stunning outdoor areas with panoramic views of the Swan River. The hotel is located on the campus of the University of Western Australia (UWA) and has a unique operating model where all profits go to supporting medical and scientific research at the five surrounding universities. This hotel does not accept cash as a payment method. Credit, debit and prepaid cards are accepted to buy goods and services.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for 3 nights on level 3 with a Swan River view early in January and later in January stayed for 3 nights on level 4, again with a Swan River view. It is the view that makes this hotel a winning destination - it feeds the soul. And the hotel itself has a very relaxed vibe. Room has all the amenities you could need including a microwave. There's a flywire screen if you want to leave the sliding doors open to take advantage of the breeze. You can turn the air con on and off. The room balcony was my favourite spot to hang out. Staff were great. Good breakfast options, though with the first stay they ran out of yoghurt and smoked salmon for a couple of days. Can not comment on dinner as I did not dine in during either stay, however comments were positive from those around me as I enjoyed a nightly gin and tonic on the deck.

We can’t rate the Wonil more highly. By far our favourite Perth hotel for a staycay. The views, architecture and aesthetics are beyond compare for a hotel in this price category. Above all, the service and hospitality are faultless. All the staff from housekeeping to management work tirelessly to help to make one’s stay all the more enjoyable. We’ve stayed before and will definitely be back. Sincere thanks to K and his team 🤩

I loved this hotel the moment I stepped in; this is my second time staying at Wonil :) I had booked it on the whim after reading the good reviews before my first stay there, and they were right! The hotel is so luxurious and has a great vibe, the best thing about it though are the staff who are extremely attentive and ready to help whenever I needed it. This time I booked for a whole week and got a room facing the river - it totally relaxed me having a beautiful view to wake up to each morning. It's a short walk to Matilda Bay where I regularly went to sit and watch the iconic Perth black swans swimming in the river - what a peaceful view. You can use the gym at nearby UWA too, but do note about the parking in the hotel- you need to pre-book in advance and there is a charge. The breakfasts were delicious, especially the Avo smash with goat cheese and poached egg, topped with pistachios! A special thank you to the manager Khalid for taking care of me throughout my stay, Fernando (you make the best coffee!), Bron from Housekeeping for your lovely smiles, and Jennifer the chef for the yummy breakfasts. Thank you for making my stay very pleasant, I'll be back for sure :) First class service!

Stayed at the Wonil Perth for several weeks before Christmas. Amazing place, tastefully designed hotel with good-sized rooms. Nice lobby, good restaurant, and a beautiful terrace overlooking the Swan river, perfect for having a meal or just hanging out. Serene and vibrant atmosphere. Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Location is great for talking walks along the Swan river or exploring the University of Western Australia campus. Driving into Perth CBD takes only a few minutes by car or 10 minutes by bus. Last but not least, like it that hotel profits go to supporting medical and scientific research.

Had a warm welcome by the general manager and his team. Room was clean and tidy. Reception was always helpful with suggestions. If the internet speed can be quicker, it would be so much better. Beautiful view of the lake in the room I stayed. Will be back in two weeks cheers!!

As soon as you arrive the staff rush to attend you and make sure you are treated well. Hotel terrace is a great place to either enjoy breakfast or a drink in the evening. The hotel has started the dinner service and the food is delicious, I highly recommend to try Oxtail Croquettes.
