We redeemed and stayed in a king room. Room is nicely renovated, very spacious and with many useful n practical features like shelvings and usb ports 👍 Then we met John Messiha when checking out. We told him our son is coming to stay the following week with his wife and baby, their first family trip. So we wanted to know if the king or twin room is a bit more spacious cos they need to add a cot. John smiled, checked and said he wants to do something for them ! They are there now, upgraded to a super spacious corner room …. almost a suite I think :D What a pleasant surprise ! Very kind indeed !

We chose this hotel just from the internet and I have to admit it exceeded all our expectations as a first hotel in Australia. The reception was friendly and helpful and staff opened the doors for air arrival and made us most welcome. Our first night in Australia saw us on the terrace enjoying a really excellent chicken cedar salad and local wine served by very attentive staff with a backdrop of His Majesties Theatre lit up in pink light😀. The corner room 1005 was excellently appointed and the 3 windows gave us an excellent view of Perth at night and when we woke. Breakfast was a self service but extremely nice and the option of omelet or eggs cooked to your choice of way was as good as anything I have ever tasted and a complement to the staff. Excellent coffee and happy staff made this the best breakfast place we have experienced so far in Australia as I write this some 10 days later. The outside restaurant tapas was a triumph and we really enjoyed the banter with the lovely staff. Overall I can’t fault this hotel and highly recommend you try it. Enjoy.

Good check in, we had booked a city view room which was a bit disappointing, just looking at other buildings as we were on a fairly low floor. Nice room but lacking a decent view. The only annoying thing about this hotel on check in this large room deposit / bond, which took serval weeks to be returned or cancelled, not so good when traveling around the country. We never tried the breakfast or evening meal, as it appeared very over priced compared to all the other restaurants close by. Really nice bar area with an outside balcony, but its under used, probably due to the drinks prices Loads of local bars with happy hour just up the street. We did try a sharing snack from the very over priced Spanish tapas restaurant, not great for the few bits we tried. Perth seems very quite compared to before COVID Great location.

This was my first time returning to the hotel since before the pandemic. As usual, the room was nice and well-appointed and the air conditioning worked well. However, there was an unsettling experience upon check-in and my dining experiences at Ascua and Heno and Rey were disappointing. Upon arriving at the hotel to check-in, I found that there was a gentleman sitting on one of the sofas in the lobby without a shirt on, rubbing his nipples, whilst making moaning sounds. Part way through assisting me to check-in, the reception staff member excused himself so he could go and offer the gentleman water and try and get him to leave (I assume he was not a guest of the hotel). I had to wait another couple of minutes for the staff member to return to complete the check-in process and give me my room key. There were not any other reception staff on duty at the time. I would have thought that the hotel would always roster at least two reception staff and also have a security guard on duty to deal with situations like this. Needless to say, this did not leave me with a good first impression of the hotel. I had breakfast at Ascua each day of my stay and the quality and variety of offerings has certainly deteriorated compared to before the pandemic. They are no longer using the wood-fired grill. Also, there were insects hovering on and around the food on the buffet. This is unhygienic and a health issue which I intend to report to the relevant authorities. Finally, they seem to be trying squeeze as many tables as possible into the restaurant. The tables are so close together it felt like I was sitting at the same table as my neighbours. This made me feel uncomfortable because I could not have a conversation with my dining partner without being overheard by my neighbours. There are shopping centre food courts which have a nicer ambience and more spacing between tables and privacy than this restaurant. When I offered feedback about this to one of the staff, they replied to the effect that they will not be changing the layout of the tables and that if I did not like it I should have booked a club room. I have actually stayed in the club rooms and had breakfast in the club lounge previously, which was wonderful. However, I would expect a premium experience in Ascua also, given that this is a restaurant in a 5 star hotel. I tried to have lunch at Heno and Rey one of the days, however, upon arriving, I was told that there would be a very long wait for food, so I decided to just order a drink. This took around 15 minutes to arrive. It would appear they are not rostering enough staff in Heno and Rey, because it was less than half full yet there were still long delays. Overall, this was a disappointing stay, and this hotel falls significantly short of the InterContinental standard so far as service and food and beverage offering are concerned. I would only consider returning to this hotel if I booked a club room. But I do not think I should be forced to book a club room, just to get an acceptable level of service and premium experience at a 5 star hotel. That should be provided to all guests regardless of what room type they are staying in.

Lovely welcoming hotel with top class facilities. Concierges were incredibly obliging and provided masses of helpful information. Breakfast was great quality and lots of variety. The Loft Bar was a lovely space, especially on the outdoor terrace. I had an executive room - was there 5 nights so a bath would have been a bonus but otherwise this was a great stay.

We stayed Christmas eve in a Club room. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The three staff who served us during our time in the Club were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Special mention though goes to Savas who took the experience to the next level. It was like returning home - he had a wonderful personality and you really felt welcomed. I also heard other guests talk about how fabulous he was. It's great to see such amazing staff - as they're one of the reasons you return (and this has been our third time). Rooms are clean, Club privileges are great - I love the addition of afternoon tea - it's such a treat. This hotel is up there with the best as far as Club Privileges go. Would I stay again.....in a heart beat.

Overall a good experience, front desk and front door staff are very friendly and always greeted us with a welcoming smiles. However, one of the Chef at the restaurant for breakfast buffet was very petty about us getting in the buffet breakfast one minute before the start time. We have already checked in at the buffet by the staff as the first customer. We were taking photo of the buffet area and the food, one of the chef saw us and told us they only starting in 1 minute, and they are not ready to serve, and that we need to checked in before we come in. (The way he told us is as if we did something very wrong) I understand he might not know we already checked in by the staff, but he could have been more polite when he approached us to ask if we already checked in instead of make us feel like we did something wrong and he sounds so petty about the 1 minute. Before the one chef approach us, we had took a few pictures of the food, another chef was standing in front of us and we were not told about the buffet was not yet started.

I was disappointed by the size of the room though I guess that's the trade off for being in the city centre. It's fine if you're not planning to spend much time in the hotel itself but otherwise you might feel cramped for comfort. Beds were big and comfortable though!
